That’s correct. When I go direct from Xbox with an HDMI, to the adapter, to the projector, it’s fine. But when I go Xbox to receiver, then receiver to adapter/projector, no go. The adapter I have is this one.

I wanted to hook mine up to either play on my TV or computer monitor in case I wanted to watch the TV. And come to find out my monitor doesn't have HDMI!
I was able to use something like this
I believe they have one the does HDMI to DVI as well. So you could try that. and it works amazingly. Just connected an aux cable from this adapter to my speaker. Kinda of pricy but work REALLY well.
On another thread in this forum there is a link to a cheap, passive, VGA male to HDMI female suggesting that it would be fine. This is the item that was linked (no affiliation)

Our desktop only has a spare VGA so I am here wondering if it is okay with VGA and USB.
I think that something like this could help (but with a DVI out, not VGA).
But we need to wait and see if Nintendo will give us the option to use Bluetooth.
