I started seeing a chiropractor who specializes in prenatal care and it was the first thing she told me to get when I started seeing her at 26 weeks. This was the specific belt she had me get: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0113WE0QS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_BV55R1VP215C6M0C1KDP?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
TBH I use it mostly when I’m working from home but she advised wearing it as much as possible. It’s fairly thin so you could easily wear it underneath clothes. The other thing she said that’s important is the placement. The belt should be low (not high on your belly). She said how the model is wearing it in the product photo is wrong, it should be lower. Hope that helps!
https://www.amazon.com/AZMED-Maternity-Breathable-Abdominal-Support/dp/B0113WE0QS this is what I’ve been using since week 15. I’m showing but it’s not huge. I’m 5’5” about 135 pounds at this point I guess (haven’t been weighed in a few weeks) Maybe there’s something better but it works for me.
I am 24 weeks today and just bought a belly band off of amazon. I work in a school and am on my feet for most of the day. On monday i had to go home early cause was I was so uncomfortable. Now that i have one, i cant imagine going through the day without it! it just feels like extra support and im in much less pain by the end of the day.
this is the one i got: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0113WE0QS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I had SI pain, then sciatica pain and now just lower back pain in general. I started wearing my belt at 12 ish weeks when I wasn't even showing. I bought this one from Amazon AZMED Maternity Belt, Breathable Abdominal Binder, Back Support, One Size, Beige https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0113WE0QS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_Xm7XBbSEJEZSK (Sorry I'm on mobile). My pain never disappear but it felt way worse when I skipped a day of wearing it so I recommend it.
I used this one, it's around $25 .. helped a bit for walking around during the day (I was averaging 3miles ish a day,.working up until t3 days before I had my son) , but I still couldn't step to the side or more of a shuffle step at all without terrible pain. But did take a lot of pressure off so i didn't have to "hold myself" lol
Weirdly, Every once in a while I'd hear and feel a pop from my I guess my pubic bone. That was SO painfu, but followed by maybe 20-30 minutes of no pain at all. I just tried really hard to not walk at any angle just forward and small steps towards the end. Easier said than done. Getting up from sitting or laying down was always the worst
I hope it helps you, or you find a thing that does!
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0113WE0QS?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
So I was not sure I would like it - this is a support one and for me it’s great cause all of my weight gain is in my abdomen. Bought a bigger size to accommodate end of term!
I like that it’s not high, it’s a lil thick so not sure how I would feel in the summer!
I did go running today and was pleasantly surprised that wearing my belly band helped a lot. I bought one off Amazon: AZMED Maternity Belt - Belly Band... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0113WE0QS?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Also wanted to clarify what I said about working your core. Some core exercises, i.e. those that work the trans abdominal muscles are fine! But traditional ab work, like crunches, bicycles, anything with twisting can stress your abs too much. Like other posters I’ve also been told to “hug my baby in” and subtly engage my deep abdominal muscles. Hope this helps ❤️
I got this one!
AZMED Maternity Belt, Belly Band for Pregnant Women! To Support Abdomen/Waist/Back - For Different Stages Breathable & Adjustable https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0113WE0QS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_E1W23WH2VBS2AKS39MR3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
My obgyn is a fan of pregnancy cradles, which look a little intense. I’m using this belt, recommended by my doula. Not sure I’m feeling much of a difference but am also trying to take it really easy so haven’t used it much https://www.amazon.com/AZMED-Maternity-Breathable-Abdominal-Support/dp/B0113WE0QS/ref=sr_1_5?crid=1G3TQ9CEHR9WT&dchild=1&keywords=azmed+maternity+belt&qid=1605737448&sprefix=azmed%2Caps%2C159&sr=8-5
You will likely be slower and need more breaks. Like you said - lots of snacks and water. Even though you might not have much of a belly by then, I would recommend taking a support band or belt like this one. It can help with the round ligament pain (which sidelined me around that time). https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0113WE0QS/ref=cm\_sw\_em\_r\_mt\_dp\_YKYM6XW7A44W17C3ZNZC?\_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
A pregnancy pillow helped me. I wouldn’t suggest the one I got because it started falling apart and looking ugly right away 😅
Don’t skimp on maternity clothes, you will really want to feel comfortable and can wear your third trimester clothes the few weeks after giving birth, if not longer.
A back brace if you plan on doing any kind of work/cleaning that involves bending AZMED Maternity Belt - Belly Band for Pregnant Women to Support Back/Waist/Abdomen With Belly Brace - Breathable & Adjustable For Different Stages https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0113WE0QS/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_navT_a_WXRF7GG6ZC3N0MG80FF7
I bought this AZMED Maternity Belt from Amazon a month or two ago and it’s been amazing! I have extreme pelvis pain this time around and can’t walk very long without it. Not sure if it’s the best out there - I got upset because I couldn’t find any consistent/solid recommendations from old Reddit posts, but it definitely has worked for me!
I don't know abbout best as I've only tried one, but I had this one and I liked it and it's not too expensive. I think someone else here recommended it at some point and that's how I ended up with it. I used it mostly for running, and then later for walking, and didn't find it too constricting. I never really sat in it though.
I got one and wear it when I run, starting around 22w. I definitely wouldn't still be running (31+2 now) without it, as it really does help relieve bladder pressure (though some is still present) and provides needed support. I have this one and find it to be comfortable.
this is the one I got off Amazon. I mostly wear it when I’m exercising or going to be walking around a lot. I think it helps but it doesn’t eliminate the pain I have.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0113WE0QS/ref=cm_sw_r_u_apa_glt_fabc_6K80PXG3GH5CGX69423T
They're just supportive bands, some are just like a stretchy sleeve that go over your jeans so you don't have to button them lol. But the one I linked I actually bought for more back support. I am on my feet all day and that slight bend forward kills my lower back. Hoping this will help once I'm further along!
It's worked wonders. I love wearing it around the house, cleaning, walking dog, etc. It's relieved a lot of my pain that used to plague me right before bed. I recently recommended it to another Redditor, as she was having a lot of hip pain. Definitely worth it!
I got this one Amazon maternity belt
It definitely didn’t cover me like it does the model haha seemed a LOT thinner when I put it on. It provided just enough support, but if I were to need another one, I would try the wider one with the extra band on top.

I have this one, and I call it my wrestling belt. Yeah, it’s huge but helped so much with back pain during the second/third trimester.
I will. FYI, I ordered this one AZMED Maternity Belt, Breathable Pregnancy Back Support, Premium Belly Band, More Than 1.3M Happy Mothers, Lightweight Abdominal Binder, One-Size, Beige https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0113WE0QS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_xeJ-FbAVB4A9K
I got this one on Amazon. It had the highest and most ratings, and it’s not as huge as the other styles.
It’s conveniently kept my leggings up all day so they stopped sliding under my bump.
I am so sorry that you’re suffering from pgp. I did an online yoga therapy session with my friend who went over a bunch of exercises that can help stabilizing and strengthening your pelvis which has helped me tremendously (but it took about 2-3 weeks of everyday exercises to feel result). I also went to my first chiropractor appointment last week (thank goodness she is seeing clients face to face). I had excruciating pain when rolling over in bed and after my first session the pain reduced with 10-15 percent.
Icing where you feel pain for 5-10 minutes 3-5 times/day might help relieve any swelling.
Have you tried a pregnancy belt? I bought this one from amazon and has helped a little bit - but I know some people feel relief from using one! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0113WE0QS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I had a couple of weeks of this (around was 34-35) and then one of my midwives suggested getting a support belt. I ended up with this one https://www.amazon.com/AZMED-Maternity-Breathable-Abdominal-Support/dp/B0113WE0QS/ref=sr_1_4?crid=PP8Z15Y0KEFO&dchild=1&keywords=azmed+maternity+belt&qid=1584705568&sprefix=Azmed%2Caps%2C163&sr=8-4 from Amazon. It’s important to get something really supportive and not just a stretchy band. I’ve worn this for just a few hours during the day and when I’m on my feet a lot. Now I’m pretty much pain free (37w3d). Saved me from having to go to PT and got me back to my Expecting and Empowered workouts and yoga.
I hear you on the new feelings - that's why I was in denial for like 2 months before I bought a band, I figured this new pain was just part of the package. It also helped with my SI joint pain from running/walking, which was a related but totally different kind of pain.
I got this one on Amazon simply because it was cheap and uncomplicated and don't have any complaints (except when my husband catches me getting dressed and I feel that much less sexy strapping this thing on).
Yes I got mine off of amazon. I’ll link the one I got
Before this one I got another on off of amazon but I ended up returning it. It wasn’t wide enough, and it scratched my skin when I was wearing it. I had to wear it over clothes so it wouldn’t bother me. But that was difficult to hide when I wanted to wear it out.
But the azmed belt has been very awesome. I can wear it under my clothes (so on skin) and go out with it on, it’s not detectable at all. And it’s comfortable. It really provides the support for me and makes a huge difference in back pain. I wear it when I go out and I also wear it at home sometimes while cooking and cleaning. Also it’s very wide, so it provides a good surface area of support. I highly recommend.
Hope it works out for you as well. Good luck.
I work on my feet and lately I've been having really bad problems with round ligament pain. This has been helping me tremendously. Not completely, but it's making my shift a little bit more tolerable.
Maternity Belt, Breathable Abdominal Binder, Back Support, One Size, Beige https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0113WE0QS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_LwMEAb2AYC92M
I bought this one about two months ago to help with my already existing back issues. I like how wide the band is, it closes with velcro in the back (wish it was in the side, or front). I wear it pretty regularly.
AZMED Maternity Belt, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0113WE0QS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_E4-7zb1CHCBJE
Yes, the heavier it gets the more I feel like I should be wearing support to help my back with the added weight. I bought this one on Amazon awhile back when my back was killing me.
My only gripe is that the velcro is in the back. But otherwise it's been great.
AZMED Maternity Belt https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0113WE0QS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_OSm7zb6SC1QS4
Hi!! Sorry this is so late! I finally got the link to the belt yesterday! Here it is: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0113WE0QS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_js6CRNNHtlSvj
I have no idea how great it is yet, I should get it today. But, the other pregnant lady at my PT office said she's tried out a few of the really expensive belts which were crap for her and this one is just amazing. IMO for $25 it's worth a shot.
[https://www.amazon.com/AZMED-Maternity-Breathable-Abdominal-Support/dp/B0113WE0QS/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?_encoding=UTF8&keywords=azmed%20maternity%20belt&qid=1485403258&ref_=mp_s_a_1_1_a_it&sr=8-1](This one!). It's pretty ugly but is amazing! Once I started wearing it I could run longer without having to pee and overall I felt more comfortable.
I've been using this one from Amazon, and it's really helped with my round ligament pain. One with straps over the shoulders would provide more support, but this has been enough for me.
Protip: If you have a flex spending account (FSA), a belly support band is eligible for reimbursement. Just don't buy it with an Amazon gift card.
This is what I got. It was highly rated and has been doing a good job. Doesn't eliminate 100% of the soreness, but helps a LOT
What a great idea! I kept running up until about 36 weeks, though it was more of a hobble by then. A few items were crucial for me: a belly support band, a very supportive sports bra, and larger shoes with a wide toe box. I almost exclusively trail run, so I opted for Altras. Good luck with fatherhood!
I have an apron belly and find that wearing a support belt, it lifts up the apron, as well as shapewear really helps with my belly as well as making sure I wear a full panel maternity pants.
My favorite pieces: support Shorts
I got this one off Amazon. I'm up walking 3-5 miles a day for work, and it's helped a ton. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0113WE0QS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_JCRTWCAHJMJCWGQ6B6CN?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I got this one from Amazon and I’ve been loving it!!
AZMED Maternity Belt, Breathable Abdominal Binder, Back Support, One Size, Beige https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0113WE0QS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_.nf1Cb21J1YVQ
I am 36.5 weeks and also have a herniation in the same spot.
Buy yourself THIS maternity belt (highly reviewed on amazon). You'll thank yourself as you get bigger. I wear it every day and if I ever forget I can tell immediately in the difference in pain. Before my bump was super big I just wore it when doing a lot of walking/standing, now I wear it all the time.
I have been going to physical therapy throughout the pregnancy and that has helped a lot. My therapist is actually a prenatal/pelvic floor PT specialist, too. I have pregnancy approved excercises that I do to strengthen my back and hip muscles, which help a lot but don't get me wrong - you're in for some pain and discomfort that will likely be worse than the average pregnant person's because of your situation. My physical therapist also recommended I get this Sacroiliac joint belt as because of my herniation my pelvis is misaligned (or maybe my pelvis misaligned caused my herniation, who knows) and therefore she said I was at extra risk for SPD. Lo and behold, I started getting SPD symptoms as early as 11 weeks!
So now, I wear the SI joint belt and the maternity belly brace daily. Before the past month or so, I just wore them when I was walking/standing a lot (my husband and I refer to the combo as my 'sausage casing,' it's hilarious).
I bought this one from Amazon
My husband bought me on early on from Amazon after it was suggested by my doctor. It's a simple wrap with a velcro closure in the back. It's one size fits all and I felt it was a bit snug initially, but it's stretched and definitely helped, particularly on days where I have been out and about and more active. I ordered a breast pump through my insurance with the help of aeroflow and also applied through them for a belly band that my insurance covered (I'm in the US). The one they sent is Motif brand and definitely higher quality and easier to put on (esp now at 32 weeks). I'll include links to both below.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0113WE0QS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_D3V.FbNV8WJ68?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I just ordered the top one on Amazon since I'd like relief as soon as I can get it.

This one saved me in the last month or so of my last pregnancy. Helped a lot with back pain.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0113WE0QS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I used this simple one. It managed to hold everything up and it didn't get super sweaty and gross, plus it was easy to put on by myself
I just bought this one: AZMED Maternity Belly Band for... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0113WE0QS?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I just used a maternity belly support band I got from Amazon for my PP belly. It's short in height so it was perfect for my shorter torso. It's helpful to have a second set of hands to help you pull it tight. I really only needed support around my lower abdomen where the loose skin was gathering, so this was perfect.
I'm a big fan of old navy leggings for lounging around. They come in petite sizes and different rises (they're on sale right now). I bought these compression leggings in my usual pre-pregnancy size which I easily fit into right after birth. I still wear them now!
Congrats! Coach here, and I had a baby a little over a year ago. Coached and worked out up until I had him. I think it’s perfectly fine to do everything that you were already doing up until something is uncomfortable for you. As your belly gets bigger you just have to use other exercises in place of certain things, and you’ll obviously slow down a lot. I did a lot of trx rollouts, birddogs, plank exercises with hands on the bench (leg lifts or toe taps), squat to a oblique knee to elbow. The TRX is a lifesaver. I was mostly ok rowing until the very end, but it made me feel kinda queasy so I’d do the bike instead. Had to stop running around 7 months because my back started to hurt.
I didn’t realize I was pregnant for about four or five weeks, and I was going SO HARD in workouts, like heart rate waaaay up, doing infinity and super intense stuff - my baby was and is fine. So I’d listen to your Dr. with their recommendation of keeping heart rate down but even after I found out I still went moderately hard (kept under 170 I believe, and it’s not like I’d go over 160 that often for that long anyway). We have had so many pregnant women at our studio who were still running up to 8mph at 8-9 months pregnant, which is super impressive. If your body allows for it keep doing your thing as long as possible, you’ll be thankful you did.
Definitely let your coaches know as soon as you are comfortable to, I have had many women confide in me early which is good to know — I have a few members who haven’t mentioned being pregnant to me but I know that they are but I can’t be like HEY ARE YOU PREGNANT?! And I wish they’d mention so I could help them more. But obviously it’s at that person’s discretion if they’d like to tell.
Honestly I never found any maternity leggings I liked, they all seemed to somehow fall down even though you’d think the belly would hold them up, but mine seemed to push them down. I just wore regular ones the entire time, I found having an extra layer of material over my entire torso was too hot.
I would 100% invest in a belly band for your workouts. As you get farther along it just helps you feel and stay more secure. AZMED Maternity Belt, Breathable Pregnancy Back Support, Premium Belly Band, More Than 1.3M Happy Mothers, Lightweight Abdominal Binder, One-Size https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0113WE0QS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_2TS656YGYZXM3NCQADH8?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Also my feet did not fit into ANY of my workout shoes so just be prepared to possibly have to buy a bigger size.
And lastly don’t get down on yourself when you come back from time off. You’ll probably be slower and weaker than you were, but you’ll get it back fast. I remember being in the red zone at what would normally be a very easy pace for me, but I just gradually kept increasing my base/push/AO. I am now faster and stronger than I was before I was pregnant - I have the strength of a grown woman AND a little baby!
You’re doing the BEST thing by continuing your fitness journey while preg, congrats again and keep gettin after it for yourself and your babe!
No problem! I got this one and it works great
I'm currently 29 weeks pregnant and have used two different support bands. I was having issues with pelvic pain while standing for long periods of time or while walking for short periods. Once I started using belly support bands, that pain has been greatly reduced.
1) AZMED Maternity Belt - This one velcros in the back so it is sometimes a struggle to get it adjusted how I want, but it is still the one I grab when both are clean. It feels supportive while still being something I can wear all day regardless of if I'm sitting, standing, or whatever. It's easy to move without unhooking it when I need to pee (which is all the time) so I don't feel like I'm fighting with it.
2) Motif Medical Pregnancy Support Band - This one velcros in the front and feels more firm in its support, but I don't gravitate toward it. My biggest issue has been that it works great when I'm standing/walking, then rides up any time I bend over or sit down. It's also a pain to take it off when I need to pee.
I've also seen people recommend the style with a strap that goes over the bump, but I haven't tried that style.

I ended up ordering this maternity belt from Amazon. I’ll let you know if it helps.
Thank you for sharing! What kind of suppose belt do you use? I have this one but am not quite sure it does anything.
This one has been amazing! AZMED Maternity Belt, Breathable... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0113WE0QS?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I bought this one, on the recommendation of some others here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0113WE0QS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_X2DT1FVFYW8PZVWFST03?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I have this one!
I have both the BaoBei Support Band and this (less expensive) belt from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/AZMED-Maternity-Breathable-Abdominal-Support/dp/B0113WE0QS?ref_=ast_sto_dp
I actually find the Amazon belt is better for curbing round ligament pain and specifically seems to support the lowest part of my belly better. The BaoBei gives me better overall support (it almost seems like compression wear and really keeps everything in place) but I still get round ligament pain when running. So, I'm more inclined to wear the cheaper belt while out running and the BaoBei for just normal everyday activity (walking, cleaning, cooking, taking care of the dog). But since these things get sweaty and I sometimes slack on washing them, I do like having two and I'll grab whichever one is clean in a pinch.
I got this one. It has been great!
I got this one a few weeks ago. I haven't tried any other ones to compare, but so far this one is helping a lot with lower back pain. I wear it every day!

I was looking at that one, too! I ordered this one off Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0113WE0QS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
If it's not enough support, I'll return it for the one you linked. Thanks so much

Get the belt!! I started wearing one at 16 weeks and it's been AMAZING. Here's the one I have. I own two. One for my bike commute and one for my run!
I have this support belt and it has helped with both my back and hips. It's also not too bulky under clothes, which is a plus.
