There are some really good resources that can help you figure out the best time to read to her, and what books might be able to grab her attention. One that I've had recommended to me is Babies Need Books - my mum used an earlier edition of this for me, back in the 80's. Unlike a lot of the other childhood book guides, it has a great section on HOW to introduce books (at a range of ages), not just what books are good and appropriate. The only downside is that it was last updated about 10 years ago, so that there are some newer books that are fantastic, but have been omitted from the list.
