It's hard to overstate how hard Amazon sucks for guiding customers to terrible offers. Meaningless reviews, ridiculous "choice" and "pick" promotions. For the Mr. and Mrs., may I suggest Kiss My Face moisture shave in grapefruit-pomegranate. I had a good shave with my Schmidt R10 razor today, and still prefer that light handle on other razors, like https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LZBCC1L.
Cant really help you with a carrying case, but as for what I think would be a decent entry setup (without really knowing your experience):
Razor:. Baili 191
Baili apparently makes decent razors, but I've only used this one and REALLY like it (it's also sold as the Viking Godfather, if you wanna check reviews).
I use the Omega Pro 48 (link above), but compared to other brushes, that thing is a MONSTER size-wise (still works great though, but can be a little messy). Omega sells smaller/regular sized brushes as well!
Soap/Cream: Proraso Shave Soap
I linked to the Proraso Amazon store because they have three main choices: green (regular), white (sensitive), and red (Sandalwood). It's up to you which to grab, but I really dig the red (although Sandalwood can sometimes disagree with people's skin, so might wanna maybe try one of the others first).
Blades: TryABlade Sampler
Not Amazon, and while the Baili I recommended comes with some, they might not be the best for you (I personally think they're usable). I'd recommend grabbing the Top 10 Sampler from the TryABlade link above for a small pack of some of the better options available.
I'm sure others can make different (better?) recommendations, but I figured I'd throw in my two cents to get you started!

Completely agree! And it really doesn't even have to be an investment. There are plenty of cheap ones on amazon that get the job done. I have this one, plus this pack of razors, and love it!
So, try a double edge razor... I have a blackened Viking Godfather. It cost about $35... It's a copy of a cheaper razor mass produced in India. You can get the same razor with 5 blades for a much better price:
The other huge hint is to use a "pre-shave" oil before you put on shaving cream. This lubricates your blade as you shave, making everything much smoother and reducing the change of nicks and scrapes.
They sell a bunch of high priced "Manly" pre-shave oils, but again, going to a women's product turns out to be much cheaper and just as good. Look for "Tree Hut bare moisturizing oil" and pick a scent you prefer. Most men's oils gouge you for about $10-$15 per ounce, but the Tree Hut products go for about $1.30 per ounce (about $10 per bottle, which last quite a while).
splash a few rounds of warm water on your face... Apply some oil... rinse your hands with some soap (cause the oil is slippery, and makes holding a razor extra fun)... apply shaving cream... and then shave away! Lot's of guys like to make three passes, so you could apply a new layer of cream before each pass, but you'll only need to oil once.
Nahh I’m still new to I just got a cheaper one off amazon (still quality though) link to see if I even liked it.
The Baili might be your best bet, then.
Also, as long as you're not a shower shaver, you may want to consider another Baili. This one is rebranded by Viking as the "Godfather" and people buy it for $40. But you can have it for $8-12.
I think it is a better shaver. It holds the blade in great alignment (most other razors you have to verify alignment any time you load a new blade). I think it looks better too. Sure the handle is chrome, but I never had any problems with it slipping in my hand, even when wet. And I think this one could have a place in your cabinet, even a year or two down the road. Just read the Amazon reviews for the Viking Godfather if you think it might be a candidate. I've had both in my hands at the same time. And they're the same exact razor.
