Hmm, has anyone tried to make a detroit pizza in one of those all corners pan?
You wouldn't want non-stick I guess, but the idea is interesting.
So what I'm envisioning you proposing is something like the all edges brownie pan but for a pot?
If that's the case, it would have to be directly affixed to the rest of the pot and made from something with a really efficient thermal conductivity. Just floating some extra iron spheres in the pot wouldn't work, as they would never get hotter than the medium they're in (pesky thermodynamics)
Heh, it definitely violates Heterogeneity, that's for sure. Everyone's got a right to their opinion. 🙂
They actually make these weird, zigzaggy pans for all-edge brownies! It's what inspired me to think of a way to make a no-edge brownie in defense of fudgey centers.
I'm an edge lover and I recommend buying this pan for maximum crust
I know it's terrible of me and someone may burn down my house for saying this, but these edges make me realize that I would try an all edges pan (e.g., warning Amazon link) on a pizza. The side of the crust looks amazing to me and the darkness of those pepperonis!
No, for real, many people think this crispy edge (because it contrasts with the rest of the chewy brownie) is the best part.
There are even specially designed pans made to provide more edges to your brownies.
> everyone gets 2 edges and 2 not, no matter the orientation of them
But that's not true. Two people will get brownies with 3 edges and 1 not, because those are the brownies at the very ends of the snake shape. Here's the pan on Amazon. (I didn't realize it was so long, so actually there are six corner pieces and four straight pieces.)
So the CO will have to deal with the marines who want extra edges.
I know a guy who liked edge brownies enough to make an all-edge brownie pan. (<- note: link to amazon page.) That's kinda funny I think.
Qotd: I love all brownies, but I absolutely love edge pieces! I've seen a brownie pan that's all edges! Not that I would buy it though, I don't make brownies enough.
I'm still exhausted from yesterday/the week. I've worked 6 days in a row, for a total of 52 hours and I am wiped! But we have a family BBQ today to go to, and I'm trying to decide if I want to go or just stay home and veg. I have 1 hour to decide. I'm drinking an energy drink but that's fake energy, it'll wear off.
Hope everyone's having a great day!
You meanthis one?
They are a special type of pan that make crisp edges on every brownie baked in the pan.
Like this. https://www.amazon.ca/Bakers-Edge-Brownie-Pan/dp/B000MMK448
Some people prefer their brownies and blondies very moist and almost fudge like. This is not the pan for them.
Others, like myself, enjoy a chewy-caramel-like edge and that is what this pan does. It works particularly well for the Caramel Macadamia Blondies and the Maple Pecan Bondlies.
You can still get the brownie version on Amazon! Unless you're actually 5+ people, it'll be more than adequate!
That's all very interesting and I couldn't have guessed. I wonder if there could be a tank designed in the spirit of that brownie pan where every piece is an edge piece. Maybe something to the same effect (different implementation of course) in beer tanks could eliminate some of those differentials and other factors.
Oh yes. It's on my wishlist, so someday, someday...
Anyway yeah I just made a batch yesterday (and it's already almost gone) and it's my favourite recipe. I'm not even typically that into chocolate or brownies but they're so good, and the top/side crusting is addictive. Just make sure to give it lots of time to cool. I hate waiting so I end up just diving in with a fork sometimes but it stays cohesive better if you wait.
CDN$137.02 for the one pictured
Cheaper ones available on Amazon.com for like $15-$25

Your brownies look delicious, btw!
The Great Barstool Brownie Debate - Center Pieces vs. Corner Pieces
Pretty heavy CW in the article. > Now over the years I’ve had my fair share of disputes over arbitrary opinions such as this, but this one is disappointing and flat out scary. I cant believe we live in world where people want corner brownies with burnt, crunchy edges.
and
>The center brownie embodies everything that makes a brownie a fucking brownie. And thats why its superior.
and
>And dont you dare…DONT YOU DARE…bring pizza into this.
The cultural homogeneity on this is becoming really scary. The center culture has captured the mainstream. Here's Buzzfeed with So, Brownies On The Edge Of The Pan Are Trash And I'll Tell You Exactly Why. Here's Delish.com with 5 Reasons You Should Never Eat The Edges Of Brownies. And more, and more, and more. Everywhere - you - look, the center culture reigns supreme.
I work at a large technology company, and in office discussions center culture is just automatically assumed. I'd love to be able to talk about what I like, but I'm afraid that any deviation from the center line will get me branded an edgelord. It seems that just five years ago or so, it was OK to cautiously admit that edges aren't that bad, but nowadays the best I can do is to try to quickly change the topic.
For now, Edge Culture can still use technology, but now that the Overton window has shifted away from it, I worry this solution won't last. These devices already have to carry cancer warnings in California, and I think the state legislature is mulling over an outright ban.
I can only hope that some of the IDW members will adopt Edge Culture and help counterbalance the relentless drive to the center… although I doubt even that will help, at this point.
Hence the creation of this lil' beauty.
Unless you have an all edge brownie pan?
edit: After reading the title again, my statement doesn't make sense. Still, check out that pan.
this opinion is popular enough that all "all corner" brownie pan has been invented. you might want to look into it

Have you tried using a Z-Pan, btw? They are AWESOME. Basically, it's a brownie pan with 2 ridges, making the inside look like the letter Z. Every piece is an edge and all have at least one crispy side! I love mine. :D Mine is no longer sold, but I've heard good things about this one. https://www.amazon.com/Bakers-Edge-Nonstick-Brownie-Pan/dp/B000MMK448
They will need some of these

Nah, the edges is where it’s at with brownies. That’s why this exists:
Baker's Edge Nonstick Edge Brownie Pan https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B000MMK448/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabc_Y5SVFb1E6BG4W
At least unpopular enough that they created a pan to cook only edge pieces. I have to agree though, center pieces are by far the best.

Here's the Amazon product page for the brownie pan..
$35 USD hrm
Maybe one brownie tray per person?
Edit: To make it fully legit the $13 spatula probably needs to be bought also
I know you can order that lasagna pan on Amazon
Baker's Edge Nonstick Edge Brownie Pan https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000MMK448/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_u5E-AbA7H0R5N
The edge is the best part - that is why this exists
Totally agree, give me some of that crust!
Well, if you really want to maximize the burnt cheese on the crust, there's always these:

Extreme crusts aside, you really don't want cast iron for Detroit. Cast iron will take too long to heat up and mess with the bottom/side browning. For Detroit, you want either steel or aluminum.
These are popular:
https://detroitstylepizza.com/products/10-x-14-steel-dsp-pan
But I've heard stories about them sticking
The other favorite pan is this:
https://lloydpans.com/detroit-style-pizza-pans.html
If you were dead set on the two, I'd probably lean toward the Lloyd, but, while the Lloyd will give you a non stick surface that lasts quite a while, it won't stay non stick forever.
My current thoughts on Detroit style pans are here:

TLDR; go to Home Goods and get a cheap nonstick pan. I normally recommend a lasagna sized pan, but they should have square cake pans as well. You can check Walmart, but for the lasagna pan size and the $10 price point, the quality was too low (super flimsy, flaking coating).
Have I got the perfect brownie pan for you!
Every brownie has edges. I purchased this item years ago. It works, but it's a pain to clean.
Everybody loves the edge. Next time use this pan.
NTA
I suggest buying an all edge pan for all your future cakes.
You could try a tin like this: https://www.amazon.com/Bakers-Edge-Nonstick-Brownie-Pan/dp/B000MMK448
The All Edges pan!
https://www.amazon.com/Bakers-Edge-Nonstick-Brownie-Pan/dp/B000MMK448
> No one loves Brownie crust.
Oh yeah? Well then, how do you explain this?
https://www.amazon.com/Bakers-Edge-Nonstick-Brownie-Pan/dp/B000MMK448?th=1

I found it on Amazon!
https://www.amazon.com/Bakers-Edge-Nonstick-Brownie-Pan/dp/B000MMK448
I have to use this Edge pan!
I don't understand those freaks that like the edges. They also coddle those psychos by making an "all edge" pan. :)

Behold, the (Edge-Only Brownie Tray)[https://www.amazon.com/Bakers-Edge-Nonstick-Brownie-Pan/dp/B000MMK448]

Then you won't like this.
If you want to spend the cash on it, they make specialized brownie pans just for this.

You won't have to if you use this pan

Or make them in one of these.
If you love edges, you would adore the Baker’s Edge Brownie Pan. I highly recommend the investment. You can also make lasagna in the pan.
Appears it's out of stock right now though. Cupcake tray works too.
There is already an edge-only brownie pan for edge lovers. The middle only people need some love too.
Or buy this.
Not a crazy idea at all! Also, they exist. There are a few other similar styled ones out there too.
No no no. You need to cook them for a bit more time, and in this pan.

A brownie pan that for all edge brownies
Meh, that's ok. The edge is the best part of the brownie anyway.
