These are great jars for grain
You can find these at Target/Walmart even your local grocery if they carry them. I've found them for $10 a dozen at Safeway & Albertsons

You can freeze it. I did that for a while before getting a pressure canner. There are specific canning jars made for freezing, I personally liked these ones for freezing stock.
However as far as keeping at room temp in a pantry? Pretty much requires a pressure canner.
