Are my lights any good?
My lights are about 6” away from the plants. Should I have bought something like Mars Hydro?
I have a shelf setup, so I thought something long and tubular would have been good. Not sure about Mars Hydro and how it would fit with my shelf setup, because their products are generally a square shape.

Thanks so much! I'm using these lights from amazon, got the 6-pack for $60 and I'm pretty impressed with them. And the shelf was only $15 from ikea!
Depends on how much left you have to flower, but You can get a cheap lights if it’s only used for cuttings/clones/seeds and put the lights very close.
I just got these to root my hundreds of indoor plant cuttings and they’re loving them. The lights are about 6” away.
All depends on the footprint to fill. If you are using leds you will hardly notice an increase in your bill. I use these to start veggies and mount them under shelves. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082ZL2L3N/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_XSKKPG68G3GVVEEGSF25 they work great for sun hungry veggies so I imagine it would be enough for bonsai.
Light intensity decreases the further it is away from the plant so it’s possible your plants are too far or your light is too weak. You may have to double up on bring them closer while watching it closely for burn. I have this one in my ikea cabinet with the plants being about 6in or so away from the light and it has only been a couple weeks so I’ll have to wait and see. I have my succulents about 4in away from these same lights and they’re super happy. Hope that helps!
Yes I do, thank you for being patient with me btw, I know how annoying the “new guy” can be lol. Here’s the link;

I recently ordered another set of grow lights and somehow managed to order two different kinds from the same brand: Yellow lights Pink lights
I'd like to order some more, but I'm not sure which ones to get. My plants seem to be responding well to both - I haven't noticed any major differences.
Obviously the color of emitted light is different, but I'm not sure which one is better for growing succulents, if one is better? Would love for someone to shed some light on this issue.
These are the lights I have.

Do you think they are adequate, or do I need something else?

Did I make the wrong choice? Should I have bought different lights?
Is there a definitive source about how much light is needed by which plants?
Also, these are the lights I bought. Are they any good?

I put them in a dome and place it inside of a cabinet dresser lol
I use a 2ft t5 light 24 watts
Something similar to this
> I really hope you keep us updated.
So far, still doing alright. Pics from today: https://imgur.com/a/rlnHr5x
There is another 24W strip light above it now, as I had an extra unused single of these ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B082ZL2L3N/ ) so it's adding some light to the plants leaning forward.
My wife isn't a fan of the more acidic taste the Orange Hat's have, but I love them. I just graze snacking on them whenever tending the rest of the plants. Still flowering, but I've had to prune the growth on the top since the height is maxed out. (I suppose I could attach the lights to the rack, separate them from the base, and go higher...but, meh.)
The tank is almost solid roots (last pic). I think the pump is clogged with roots, but its doing fine with the air stones I added at the start. (Did upgrade to a more powerful and also silent Danner AP-20 air pump.)
Just harvested the last of the bok choy from the other one... let one of this variety ( https://www.rareseeds.com/store/vegetables/greens-oriental/purple-lady-bok-choy ) grow to seed and it got massive, covering about 9 pod positions: https://imgur.com/a/hHu8xrC
And my experimental tower (more on that here https://www.reddit.com/r/Hydroponics/comments/q72lvs/presenting_my_hydro_clown_car/ ) is getting intense. The Cucumbers are doing shockingly well, and the rest hasn't died yet at least: https://imgur.com/a/NDeOplN
Hey, I ended up buying these.
Unfortunately I had to ship them from the US (uses US plug also) but I have found them to be great and my plants seems very happy under them (plenty of new growth).
If you're dead set on buying from the UK...I can't offer much help as I was constantly frustrated by the limited selection of blurple only lights or they operated on fixed timers (9/12/15 hours etc) which were really annoying.
I realise the Barrinas aren't the most affordable option (after shipping) but I figured if they worked well it would be worth it. I did see that there is a voucher offered for 20% off when I visited via the link though :).
I will say that although I have doubled up on the lights for each shelf, I actually think you'd be ok with one light per shelf if preferred. At 24w they do a really good job given the distance. From memory I can easily get at least/around 500 foot candles at the foliage level almost anywhere under the lights. I'm happy to take a couple readings if you want more details.
You can get lower watt versions that get good reviews although I can't vouch for them personally.
Here's an early photo of what the lights look like once attached. Not all my plants where in place their but gives you an idea.
I hope that helps. Happy to answer any other questions you might have. Good luck looking!
Oh man everyone’s been posting those lights lately. Definitely a steal. I almost ordered them, but they looked like they have an opaque cover, so I went with these instead. I haven’t gotten them yet but reviews are good, plus they have reflectors.

Before I ordered those I also got some of these and they’re giving some succs by a window some nice color they didn’t have before.

Now that I see your setup I’m tempted to rearrange the top shelves of my tall unit. I was only using them for storage because I didn’t want to climb a ladder to water. But I never even thought of hanging plants from it. 🤦🏻♀️
