Yeah the newest textbooks touch on it a bit. We went through a few different ones and this was the most modern one. IIRC part of one chapter is focused on colloquial forms used in Jakarta or on lowbrow TV shows and occasionally elsewhere in the book they would mention grammatical distinctions of a particular form that might be used in common speech vs. written.
