I absolutely love my Baskerville muzzle! My rottie is able to eat, drink, breathe/pant and take treats with his on. They’re also adjustable so if the size isn’t just right, just soak it in warm water for a few and mold it to your dogs snout.
We haven’t kept it on for more than 45 minutes though (vet visits). It cuts down his reactivity dramatically.
Update: This one!
if you need a bigger muzzle you can check amazon. they aren't very expensive and your dog will be a hell of a lot more comfortable. https://www.amazon.com/BASKERVILLE-Prevents-Drinking-Comfortable-Adjustable-Lightweight/dp/B005184AG6?th=1&psc=1 you can get a size 6 baskerville muzzle for $26USD which is not expensive at all
Muzzle train your dog and have them wear a basket muzzle when out on walks. Here is a great article on Karen Pryor’s webpage about why muzzle training is so valuable and how to go about muzzle training your dog. In addition to all of those benefits, muzzles give a very distinct f*ck off vibe to anyone who would normally be prone to stopping to chat, leaving you to walk in peace. People will also tend to give you a wide berth when walking, which can help with any social anxiety you might have. Baskerville Muzzles are consistently voted one of the best commercially available muzzles on the market, plus they are relatively cheap and available on Amazon.
I have also found an “In Training” vest such as this one is another, slightly less reliable but much less intimidating method of telling people to give you your space. And since it mentions nothing about service dogs, a simple “In Training” message won’t get you in any legal hot water (this can be a concern depending on the laws of your country surrounding false representation of service dogs, plus faking a service dog is just an all around terrible thing to do). The downside here is you might get more questions about what your pup is in training for, in which case a simple and curtly delivered “to not be a brat/jerk/bad dog”/ “to ignore other people/to be a good pup” can quickly and easily deliver your “f*ck off” message.
Sorry this turned into a novel!
