There are 3 good books the subject:
- for small batteries: Battery Power Management for Portable Devices
- for large batteries: Battery Management Systems for Large Lithium Ion Battery Packs
- for both A Systems Approach to Lithium-Ion Battery Management
Expect to spend ~ 10 K$ and 1 year of your (free) time in the process.
(I know, I have been doing this for 10 years.)
