I went with one of these led's, works good it's been about 6 months with no issues.
I use these on my 5th without any issues, and they don't blind anyone at night and are a nice upgrade. Like any other H4 you have to trim the tabs for install.

Here's what I replaced the stock lightbulb with. I only used one so I have a spare. Beamtech H4 LED 8000 LM
I ordered these on Amazon, work great.
BEAMTECH H4 LED Bulb, S1 Series 8000LM 50W CSP Chips Conversion Kit Fanless Cool White All In One Plug N Play Halogen Replacement Pack of 2 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XHD78DQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_XQQZZRTPRG8CW8C60PNS?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I've had these installed for 3 months and many other people have used them. They are a direct replacement but I found you will need to remove the left headlight assembly. There are some YouTube install videos for these.
maaaybe? I've never used LED bulbs before. Not sure how hard it is to remove that.
Edit:
This is what I bought - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XHD78DQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 And like the regular honda bulbs i don't think it emits light from the tip (the honda halogens are dipped in something opaque)
I picked up https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XHD78DQ about a year and a half ago. Its a tight fit but I like the color and have had no issues since I put it in.
I actually have the second one since they come as a pair if you want to pay for shipping from San Diego.
I installed these in my 2010. Great beam pattern, bright but not too bright, passive cooling, no active fans. Be sure to preserve the dust boot. Not easy to do, but find YouTubes that show you how.

I think they put out a cleaner white, but it's definitely a cooler color temp. I personally like the visibility they give me over the halogens, and they don't blind other drivers (no one blinks their hi-beams at me).
Idk if the 2nd gen has the same lights as the front, so make sure to check. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XHD78DQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_3PAgiuIZSVS9D
I can't find the photo I took with them running. Hopefully the Amazon listing has some photos. They output a 'daytime' color temp, which tends to look blue-er that halogen, but not actually blue.
Just make sure to aim them if you install them. I had to lower the beams a lot with these.
Yes, there are a few H4 LED replacements that offer dual color temps. However, all I have found so far just switch colors when turned on and off, rather than having one color temp for lo beam and another for hi.
Having to turn the headlights on and off to change colors doesn't really work on a bike, since typically they are always on.
So you have your work cut out for you. Maybe wire in a relay lighting harness so you can manually turn your headlights on/off to cycle colors on one of the dual-color LED units. Or, just pick a single color temp and get those LED H4 units.
I don't know anything about HID H4 replacements except that you can't just pop them in your existing headlamp housings, as they won't work right.
I used Beamtech LED H4 replacements on my Vstrom. Specifically these:
which I like more than some others because they have a compact base and fanless heatsink.
They've been great overall - good pattern and coverage ahead and to sides, almost like the stock halogens. But, they're single color temp.
Hope this helps.
BEAMTECH H4 LED Headlight Bulb,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XHD78DQ?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf
These are the bulbs I put in~$40, the rubber gasket fits perfectly without any melting/overheating, and no fan noise at all (they’re fanless with a heat sink instead). Headlights and fog lights are both H4
I went with the Beamtech H4 LED from Amazon and am happy with it.

Pretty much any LED bulb that accurately mimics a halogen filament will do the trick.
I bought these for an H4 headlight I had 5 years ago, and amazingly they are still on sale today:

I am kind of anal about headlights but these actually met my standards. They aren't super bright but they are better than halogen and will give you the right beam pattern.
I purchased these because of suggestions on this forum.
I installed these and they made a huge difference
Headlights are a must, I used these. Great so far.Beamtech
I bought these two months ago from a suggestion on this forum. I would definitely buy them again.Amazon headlights
I have these BEAMTECH LEDs pretty inexpensive and a big upgrade from oem
Beamtech H4 LED Bulb 8000LM https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XHD78DQ/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_EH19KZAS31GJYKQFP62B?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I have these

Second the Beamtech's, great upgrade for the price. If you have ever wondered about upgrading to LED's this is a great $39 option.

I replaced mine with an LED if you want me to ship you the other one (came as a pair):

There is some confusion (maybe just mine) and debate over whether the shunt type R/R actually dissipates excess power through the regulator, or through the stator. Could also be some of both.
I could very well have had both a bad stator AND a malfunctioning original R/R. That would explain a brand new stator starting to fry inside 10000 miles, and why all the problems went away after I upgraded both components.
I also don't know the details of series R/R's (I'm more of a microwave electronics guy than a power electronics EE). Details are almost certainly proprietary/patented/trade secrets. Shindengen's diagrams just show a generic "Control Circuit" (https://www.shindengen.com/products/electro/motorcycle/reg/) doing the interesting parts.
also, more germane to the original discussion: it's kinda funny how there are really only a few LED bulb designs being sold by a bunch of different vendors.
For example, I bought these "Beamtech" H4 replacements off Amazon:
Superbrightleds.com is selling what appears to be the exact same unit, only with their branding instead of Beamtech's:
I also realized that I had given someone the impression the LED H4's put out 8000 lumens per unit. It's actually 4000 lumens each for 8000 lumens total. Whoopsie.
Long time listener, first time caller, but I got cheap $40 Chinese LEDs for my '07 sport and they are superb. Not sure if yours will need the same shape.
I suspect those will mostly serve to annoy you. First up, those tiny heatsinkless bulbs do not have sufficient light output to act as headlight bulbs, they're designed for accent lighting and fog light enclosures, not headlights. (Well, they're also designed for ripping of rubes. They serve that purpose pretty well.)
Second, these do not mimic the filament pattern of their equivalent incandescent/halogen bulb, so they will not throw light correctly with your bike's reflector, and will mostly waste what little photons they do emit illuminating the sky and the ground 1.5" in front of your tire, in addition to shining in the faces of oncoming drivers since they will not create the cut-off your headlight housing is designed to produce at horizon level.
TL;DR: Pony up the additional $20 on some Beamtech modules which will actually work correctly.
