I think you have your technology crossed. DMX is typically a Lighting Control protocol (used in theatres etc). Phantom Power is basically sending 48v DC power down the line to power active components of Microphones (and other audio gear).
According to one Amazon listing, the BM-800 comes with a DC Adapter. You could use this or if you don't have it then you will need a Phantom injector like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Behringer-PS400-Micropower-Phantom-Supply/dp/B000FG795I/ref=sr_1_7?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1515335820&sr=1-7&keywords=phantom+power or a mixer with Phantom built-in. It is possible to get a USB Mixer with Phantom but I would recommend ones which plug into the mains.
That makes a lot of sense now it's explained. Thank you for that, I've been looking online for the past 3-4 hours and people have mentions about these loops but not gone into much detail. This is the phantom power supply I'm using: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Behringer-PS400-Micropower-Phantom-Supply/dp/B000FG795I/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1514669590&sr=8-4&keywords=phantom+power+supply
found it i think https://www.amazon.co.uk/Behringer-PS400-Micropower-Phantom-Supply/dp/B000FG795I
maybe one with a headphone port also? (i know its recommended only if you have 50+ ohm head phones i have that but no amp/dac never thought of that)
Thanks! I'll probably purchase those and this power supply for it. I'm assuming it will suit my needs, but if you have any other suggestions let me know.
You're going to need a preamp or a mixer that provides phantom power. Try this.
Condenser mics require 48v phantom power; the sx does not provide power through its mic port. You’ll need something inline like this to provide power to your mic.
I'm just gonna get a behringer ps4000 for the XLR power thing https://www.amazon.com/Behringer-Micropower-Ultra-Compact-Phantom-Supply/dp/B000FG795I .
Ooh, then you'll want to note that sound card doesn't have phantom power, meaning condenser mics won't work with it. Meaning you'll need to get an in-line phantom power supply between the mic and that, something like this.
Personally, I would vote for just replacing that sound card with this. More expensive than the phantom power supply of course, but having everything in one is nice.
