I plan to get the Razer Blade 15 Advanced 2021 RTX 3080. I want to know if I'll be able to drive 2 1440p 165hz monitors with this thunderbolt dock. Is that possible? Is there another dock I could use that would work. Or would I need to utilize thunderbolt for one monitor and hdmi for the other?

Yes I am. The key is the dock has to be a "Thunderbolt 3" dock and not just a "USB-C" dock if you want two extended displays on two external monitors from a MacBook Pro. From a Windows laptop, you can run two extended displays with only a single monitor output from the laptop so any usb-c hub with two display outputs will work. Not so with a MacBook where the hub MUST have both monitor outputs and only Thunderbolt can do that. I use this one with one monitor plugged into the DisplayPort and the second into the peripheral usb-c port for dual extended 4k/60hz monitors. Plugging both monitors into both DisplayPorts doesn't work -- you only get one mirrored display.

Thought I'd drop this here. You CAN get native 5120x1440 on a laptop on the AOC Agon 49". It's amazing! Hopefully this helps someone get this setup working. Comments below:

Monitor is amazing. The tricky setup was with a laptop. My Macbook pro (AMD Radeon Pro 555 pro video card, 2017 model) would not natively display 5120 x 1440. It would not do full resolution over usb-c or HDMI (would only go to 3840 x2160). I read it might have something to do with the handshake over thunderbolt 3 in mac (if you boot to windows via boot camp, 5k would work, so it's not hardware). But w/ the right adapter, I can happily report it works!

I also had to manually change the display refresh rate. 5120x1440 at 75hz was what worked. I had to download DisableMonitor, a utility from github to do so. There are a few other software packages that let you change refresh manually in MacOS, but this one was free.

Two adapters that worked (amazon links):

1) Belkin Thunderbolt 3 Dock Plus w/ 2.6ft Thunderbolt 3 Cable (Thunderbolt Dock for macOS and Windows) Dual 4K 40Gbps Transfer Speeds, 60W Upstream Charging. $200 (little pricey, but great doc so far).

2) Cable Matters USB C to DisplayPort Adapter with 8K HDR DisplayPort 1.4 - USB Type C and Thunderbolt 3 Port. $18. And the Cable Matters 8K DisplayPort to DisplayPort Cable (DisplayPort 1.4 Cable) with 8K 60Hz Video Resolution and HDR Support - 6 Feet. $13. Way cheaper! I ended up sticking w/ the Belkin doc and DisplayPort cable.

Two cables that did NOT work:

1) Moshi USB C to DisplayPort Cable 1.5m/5ft, Support 5K@60 Hz, 4K HDR, VESA Certified, Aluminum Housing, Thunderbolt 3 Compatible.

2) Cable Matters USB C to DisplayPort Cable (USB-C to DisplayPort Cable, USB C to DP Cable) Supporting 8K 60Hz in Black 6 ft.

I ran the USB up port to my PC, then the usb-c to the doc (which is connected to the Mac). Works the other way around too (usb-c to PC, USB up to Mac)

Caveat: The kvm works but I have to switch between usb-c and usb up port manually in the monitor display (you have to switch the display port anyway so it's like two extra clicks, not an issue at all).

So I can use a single usb and mouse to control both! (plug both into back of monitor).

Also, I HIGHLY recommend the RK Royal KLUDGE RK71 keyboard. It has both wired and wireless mode (I just use the bluetooth to both pc and mac), can swap between pc and mac mode, and bluetooth up to 5 devices. You can just turn off the RGB if you don't like it. But it's an amazing keyboard!

Alright so I got the new thunderbolt 3 dock and it still does not work....

Problems:

1. Netflix does not load on external display connected through thunderbolt 3 dock. Causes external display to turn off and only internal display displays netflix through web browser despite setting brave broswer/ chrome to run on the dedicated nvidia gpu through nvidia control panel.
2. Display will not turn on or display if connected to left most display port 1.4 port but works on the right display port (this is odd and this problem is consistent across 3 thunderbolt 3 docks, 2 of which are from belkin and 1 is from wavlink and the wavlink seems to be using the titan ridge thunderbolt 3 controller if i'm not mistaken BUT the display port works when connected to my wife's alienware m15 through thunderbolt 3 hooked up to intel igpu)

1. Tried turning dock off and on
2. Tried switching display port cables
3. Tried restarting computer several times
4. Tried power cycling the thunderbolt 3 dock AND monitors
5. Tried with and without any usb peripherals connected.

Currently I have a regular usb c to display port adapter that works perfectly with my monitor and I am able to use netflix on the external display with no issues.

Let me know if you need any more information tom. I think it's suspicious that the left most display port on all 3 docks don't work with the mag 15 but they work with an alienware m15 with no issues. Something is seriously wrong with the thunderbolt on this machine.
