They're not only better for JIS derailleur screws, they're better for all Phillips screws around the house too. I haven't touched a Philips screwdriver since I got a Vessel driver with 6 bits. It's got 5 different star shaped sizes and 1 flat head.
Japanese bikes use JIS screws, not philips head. It helps when taking stuck screws off on old bike to use a JIS screwdriver. Use a penetrating oil like PB Blaster and let sit for a day. If the screw has a protruding screw head, put vice grips on the head and turn. If it has a recessed head... first clean out the slots with a metal tool. An eyeglass screwdriver... whatever but get as much rust and grit out of the slots. If you need more torque on the JIS screw driver... put the vice grips on it perpendicular to the driver and use that as an arm to turn while pushing in on the end of the screwdriver.
Picked up this set about a year ago and have used it a bunch on my cars, especially the #2 driver. The handle looks and feels like a shift knob lol. Vessel 220W
To avoid this in the future I recommend the Vessell ball grip. My understanding is the screws in most of the sticks are not Phillips and using a Phillips screwdriver can lead to stripping.
I've got a set of the Wiha microfinish w/striking caps and they really are beasts. They were bought some time ago, so for all I know the inevitable cost reductions have happened in the meantime.
I've gotten out of the habit of using screwdrivers for prybars, so I'm not sure that I like the sheer mass of the things and tend to use my Wera chiseldrivers instead.
You know, a thing you might try is to start with somebody's decent quality hex spinner handle thing (maybe a short and a long) and a bunch of really good quality bits. Don't get hung up on having sets. Maybe buy individuals for the few sizes you really need.
Heck, my guess is that most people could just buy this for 95% of their usage.

TEKTON!
(just kidding).
I'd probably just get on Amazon and look at the usual suspects. Wiha, Wera, Williams hard handle, PB Swiss, Felo, and see if any of the assortment sets have a low low price today. There's a lot of variability here.
Alternately, I expect that the average person could simply buy this
https://www.amazon.com/VESSEL-BALL-Interchangeable-Screwdriver-220W3J1/dp/B00E55DL4I
and keep an eye out for cheap blade sets since I believe the ones here are a standard hex size.
The black edition comes with a black molded hardbody so you won't need any paint at all.
Tamiya kits use Japanese screws so you want a JIS screwdriver. I use this one: www.amazon.com/dp/B00E55DL4I
This is my preferred bang for the buck servo: www.amazon.com/dp/B07KRMJTH5
If you want a more authentic servo the Futaba S3003 has always been the standard for decades
It’s a 2 in 1. Usually you’ll just find them in pocket sized screwdrivers but I may actually have some good news for you.
I’ve never used their bit driver but I like their regular drivers and Vesse makes one. Make sure it’ll be long enough for you but if so it should work. It’s most likely Japanese Industrial Standard as opposed to a regular Phillips but they seem to work fine either way.
Get yourself a set of JIS screwdrivers. I got this one for my 75 360 and it works wonderfully! VESSEL BALL GRIP 1/4" Hex. Bit Interchangeable Screwdriver (Bit 3PC. (+1, 3 / +2, -6 / PZ2, PZ3) SET. 220W3J1) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00E55DL4I/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_QDHEBRA9GHR80AB6NVX9
Well... https://www.amazon.com/Bessel-Vessel-Difference-Screwdrivers-No-220w-3/dp/B00E55DL4I/ref=sr_1_2?crid=LN4QW1LU5IX9&dchild=1&keywords=vessel+screwdriver&qid=1618624635&sprefix=Vessel+screwd%2Caps%2C193&sr=8-2 it's comfy and is worth the 15 bucks. When it comes to tools the Germans and Japanese know what they're doing.
Tip #1: If you can't find a Pozidriv driver/bit, a Roberton (square) bit works pretty well, better than a Philips at least.
Tip #2: Get a Vessel ball-grip screwdriver set. Aside from coming with Pozidriv bits, the "Philips" bits it comes with are actually JIS* bits.
Philips screws/drivers are designed to cam-out as a torque limiter for ease of assembly without stripping threads, but this can lead to stripped heads with repeated dis/reassembly.
JIS screw heads look similar but differ, being designed for a more secure fit between the screw head and driver bit; these often (but not always) have a dimple on the head, so that's a dead giveaway you've got a JIS screw. A Philips driver bit engages these even more loosely than a proper Philips screw head, further contributing to head strip-out.
Nearly anything assembled outside the US will be using JIS or equivalent screws, so having the proper driver/bit will help enormously. Better yet, a JIS driver bit also works better on actual Philips screw heads, and a JIS screw head stripped by a Philips driver/bit may still be recoverable with a JIS driver bit.
^(*Technically superseded by DIN 5260-PH/ISO 8764-1, but outside the industry ppl still call them JIS anyway as they're nearly-enough identical, and only the newer standards are readily available anymore anyway.)
This is $16 (tho, it goes down to $12 at times), has multiple inserts, a fantastic gripping head, and you'll love it:
This is the one I have and it comes with other reversible bits. Once you have this, you won't want anything else! Made by VESSEL of Japan. I got mine for $12! Sometimes, you can find them at ACE hardware stores under Craftsman name (VESSEL makes them for Craftsman on occasion)
If you're looking for a better tool someone suggest this to me:
My carb is set perfectly thanks to the last owner so I haven't needed this yet but several others have vouched for it.
1bbl bike carbs are pretty simple, as far as carbs go.. the only thing that threw me for a loop is that my goddamn Mikuni's use JIS screws and I didn't realize it until I had destroyed the fourth one holding the bowl together. Come to think of it, the carbs in that diagram look near identical to mine..
Op, you're gon' need a JIS driver. This is the one I got and it's a fucking beast.
And hey, it could be worse. It could be a fucking Rochester Quadrajet.

This vessel bit screwdriver has pozidrive bits. I have his and I'm pleased with it. I don't encounter pozidrive often but this worked when I needed it.
The best bit driver I have is this one. I feel special every time I use it ;) but I don't take it up ladders: https://www.leevalley.com/en-ca/shop/tools/hand-tools/screwdrivers/drivers/75948-veritas-magnetic-screwdriver-handle?item=05K0201
2nd is this: https://www.amazon.com/Bessel-Vessel-Difference-Screwdrivers-No-220w-3/dp/B00E55DL4I
These get notable mention for being very good and reasonably priced: https://www.amazon.com/Malco-Connext1-Change-Standard-Driver/dp/B00JJ6ODBS and https://www.amazon.com/Picquic-98881-Carded-Screwdriver-Nutdriver/dp/B0018IYTYQ
The above are all long bit handles to reach into recessed screws and hold bits firmly with little to no slop.
1" insert bit handles can be nice but the holder may be too thick to reach recessed screws or navigate into crowded/tight spots. Wera's Rapidaptor ones are the worst for this, avoid them.
I keep this Vessel Screwdriver in my house and use it for everything.
Amazon has probably what i need. Was hoping just to find the bit locally for $3-6.

Use a proper screw driver with a good handle. Hold the grip of the screwdriver firmly, otherwise you won't have enough leverage when turning.
They work with longer bits, here's a popular example: https://www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/Bessel-Vessel-Difference-Screwdrivers-No-220w-3/dp/B00E55DL4I?th=1
Look up Vessel or Anex bit drivers.

Buy real deal Vessel bits. I just received a set for my impact driver directly from Japan for $10. I also have the 6 in 1 screwdriver from Amazon.

I use these. They work well and you don't have to carry a bunch of screwdrivers.
