I've got one at my place in the Bay Area - it's a Saluspa Hawaii and was totally worth the $.
I really only use it in the Summer/Spring/Fall months - heating it once it's 50 degrees or less out just seems like a huge energy suck. I don't think I'd fair so well in snow/ice/freezing conditions.

We've got a inground one at our place in Tahoe.
