I agree saying claims like "all journalists" may have been a bit much from me, but that there is a problem with journalists - to some extent - is still pretty clear.
> You appear to be repeating trump's "enemy of the people"
Reminder that nobody was talking about Trump, we are both probably equal non-Trump supporters, and calling out channels of misinformation is in the interest of everyone regardless of political preference.
> That Mark Twain worked as a journalist should not be forgotten.
Agreed, that lends a lot of credibility to his vilification of journalists. As he said, "I know from personal experience the proneness of journalists to lie." And there are more journalists who also write openly about the problem with the profession. One example you might like is by an ex-CBS journalist:
What did I say that was not honest? The managers directly responsible for WTTV news are not the managers that are directly responsible for the cable fox news.
I was not able to find this story from a major news source only from liberal sites. The lawsuit that they filed was defeated and they lost a subsequent lawsuit to pay for WTTVs defense. I appreciate that you think this is a big deal but I don't think we have the whole story. I think WTTV management probably did the wrong thing in this case but I do not think this can be a total condemnation of Fox News.
Here is a link to a New York Times bestseller about years and years of liberal bias at CBS news. The book is written by a former CBS reporter who won ten Emmys for journalism and the Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Award.
p1, I see your point. I appreciate your candor and decorum. However I a present couple of links that I would like you to look at.
p2 I understand that to be true and that was all I wanted; an admission of bias. I still maintain that capitalism does not preclude a corporation from being liberal. NY Times is not a good example, but you see my point. They are not in it for their health alone.
p3, I was inappropriately labeled as a shill / troll/ neoconservative / blind fox supporter and it was my knee jerk reaction of having to defend what I already knew as true. I haven't seen anyone claim to be an Anarcho-capitalist so it was my assumption. Though I believe I am right, I agree to disagree.
The page should only take you only a few (<ten) minutes. See the targeted consumers graph It is black and green. Skip down to here
>Simply put, management, especially in TV programming, is geared toward whatever generates profits.
& here :
>We've already noted that most media consumers like ideas that a slightly ahead of the status quo, as shown by the green area in the normal curve represented below.
I think this sums up where we stand and it is from the link I provided. 4 is you and 3 is me.
>wp3 From the standpoint of many conservatives TV news tends to be liberal because it features stories on gay rights, civil rights abuses, antiwar demonstrations, women's rights, environmental issues, etc. -- all seen as being liberal causes.
>wp4 But, from the standpoint of some liberals television is conservative because it's seen as being pro-business, without giving adequate time to alternative, non-mainstream views.
This looks good still though its from 2003-4 it serves to prove my point. The book Bias, by CBS insider Bernard Goldberg
Please read the 1'st paragraph of the product description. >Think the media are biased? CONSERVATIVES HAVE BEEN crying foul for years, but now a veteran CBS reporter has come forward to expose how liberal bias pervades the mainstream media. Even if you've suspected your nightly news is slanted to the left, it's far worse than you think. Breaking ranks and naming names, Emmy Award-winning broadcast journalist Bernard Goldberg reveals a corporate news culture in which the close-mindedness is breathtaking, journalistic integrity has been pawned to liberal opinion, and "entertainment" trumps hard news every time.........................................
Note that was 2003, it has only gotten worse IMHO. I enjoyed the conversation and challenge and I hope we both can take away something positive.
PS don't send Chavez a post card yet, I saw where he was cracking down on the inter-web ~! (*yes that is a joke)
Yarr
Captain XXXX XXXXXX
Do you know why he’s a Fox News contributor?
And he’s not conservative.
>conservative as well as a Libertariantard
What a delightful display of ignorance.
But please tell me what that post you looked up had to do with anything?
>About the Author Bernard Goldberg is the winner of seven Emmy Awards, and was once rated by TV Guide as one of the ten most interesting people on television. Having served for nearly thirty years as a reporter and producer for CBS News, he now reports for the critically acclaimed HBO program Real Sports, hosted by Bryant Gumbel. He has written for the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. Goldberg lives with his family in Miami.
You are just knocking it out of the park.
