> But it's the god damn THEME that's so important man! The message to our next generation!
Yeah, that was Obama's message in 2008. It was Bill's message in 1996 (he literally wrote the book on it). It was Jeb!'s message. It was Romney's message. "We're going to make next year better than last year" was popular back when Reagan was pitching it against Carter in 1980.
The message isn't anything new. The policies aren't new, either. Bernie's pitching FDR's platform, for christ's sake. And it is absolutely a "power grab". Bernie's not running for President so he can sit with his thumb up his butt. Neither has Bernie's campaign been anything close to squeaky clean. He's been happy to sit back and let right-wing fearmongers do most of the anti-Hillary heavy lifting. But "Hillary's outraising me, so she's corrupt!" and "Hillary campaigns for other Democrats, so she's corrupt!" and "I'm not talking about the email scandal, but other people are wink wink nudge nudge SHE'S CORRUPT!" aren't exactly clean shots.
The "Hillary's not really liberal" card gets played pretty much continuously. The "Hillary is a liar!" card gets played continuously. Dishonest attacks against Hillary are absolutely legion. Bernie's pulling fast and loose from the Ralph Nader playbook. He's even worked in the "Hillary doesn't care about the environment" card, which was so ironically-devastating against Al "My Middle Name is Climate Change" Gore back in 2000.
Bernie's doing exactly what mainstream democrats hate. He's ginning up "phony democrat!" stories aimed at the front runner, whining that he can't win because primaries are unfair, and generally poisoning one group of progressives against the other. All so he can stay in the spotlight just a little bit longer, before flaming out at the convention.
