I'm 30 and in a similar boat, though not trying for pregnancy, just wanting to have a healthy cycle and healthy body. I've been doing cyclic progesterone therapy by myself using bio identical progesterone cream I ordered off of Amazon, and I've been off of my birth control for about 6 months now with a perfect 28 day cycle since the first month. I read some scientific articles about how to use cyclic progesterone therapy for PCOS treatment and went from there, if you're interested to try it then you can order a similar cream off of Amazon (I've been using https://www.amazon.com/Bio-Identical-Progesterone-Advanced-Delivery-Pro-Relief/dp/B01N12IXCM?pd_rd_w=abDdQ&pf_rd_p=e0d46bc2-436f-4db3-a26e-323523040b19&pf_rd_r=6ANSC41J22DQMA4ZKY5F&pd_rd_r=f1ce6dd3-03ff-4347-9bdf-2b37fdb0c986&pd_rd...) and apply about 10 pumps or 200 micrograms of progesterone during your expected luteal phase, the last 14 days of your cycle, then don't use any cream for the next 2 weeks, rinse and repeat. Good luck!
OTC from amazon, here.
I have mid LP spotting and spotting for about 3-5 days before my period, but my LP is about 14-15 days long so my progesterone wasnt THAT low.
I started applying it after I confirmed ovulation with BBT (I follow Taking Charge of Your Fertility rules) which is usually about 3DPO.
I apply in three different spots but I alternate so its not in the same spot every day. My chest/neck, the insides of my arms/wrists, and the backs of my knees/calves. I follow the directions of one pump a day, although next cycle I am considering trying it twice a day to see if that helps keep my temps elevated.

I hope that helps!
I found this one that has general dosing instructions, but my main concern is if there’s a happy medium dose to start out, and whether it should be implemented in a specific time frame within your cycle or if it’s something that can just be a daily dose. I don’t want to jack up my rhythm while I’m trying to figure this out.

So I don’t take any AA or have ever. I started on on Estradiol Valerate alone. After 6-8 months I started using this. I used it intermittently for about 4-5 months where I saw my breast growth pick up exponentially. I then got my Dr to write me a script for it and take it as a suppository now each night.
I guess you can call progesterone a AA if used in the same way as me, but I don’t really view it as such.
a lot of people get mad at me when I say this, but I have hardly ever listened to the advice of conventional western doctors. their job is to diagnose and prescribe. there isn’t a single pill in the market that heals you of anything, they’re all masks.... as soon as you stop taking any pharmaceutical, the symptoms return. sure, relieving pain is great, but at what cost? years of birth control use can sometimes completely inhibit the production of progesterone (the cream I use stimulates the creation of it.. and yes, it works for a vast array of hormonal issues, not just menopause and hot flashes haha). I had endometrial hyperplasia due to estrogen dominance and low progesterone from years of synthetic hormones (birth control pills) and what did my doctor prescribe me to “fix” this issue? more birth control. (I threw the Rx in the trash). endometriosis is complex and can occur for a slew of reasons, including liver stagnation, but the most common being hormonal imbalance and high estrogen with not enough progesterone to balance it out. as far as the liver tea, I bought the herbs loose from a local herbalist (amazon works too) and made the blend myself. and as far as the cream, this is the one I use when Australia isn’t shipping Anna’s to the USA. I hope this helps a little bit. sorry if anyone reading this gets upset by my way of living but for every disease and disorder I’ve been diagnosed with, I’ve cured it naturally without the help of harmful pharmaceuticals(besides my Celiac disease). xox!
Well, this is not a product that can be used as an alternative to pharmaceutical E. I tried it—and progesterone cream—to supplement my conventional HRT dosage. I actually saw better results with the progesterone cream when applied to my face, legs, and breasts.
The Progesterone cream rounds things out, so if you want more feminine facial features, fuller breasts or buns, etc., that's the way to go with local application. It's subtle, but if applied consistently (twice a day), it will be effective with time. Don't look for results in a week or a month, tho. More like six months or more.
I use this one.

Yeah there is lots of good resources online about it! I wish my doctors would have told me about it years ago. So I was terrified to go off the pill (on and off it from age 11-31) because I knew I would get a never ending period. Even had a lot of spotting ON the pill. For a ton of reasons I decide to take the leap but learned everything I could about progesterone cream before I went off of the pill. I use it the last two days of my period, and every day after that for a total of two weeks. I apply one pump to my boobs, once in the morning and once at night. Each pump is about 20mg. My cycle has been PERFECT ever since using it/going off the pill. Period is a bit heavy for two-three days and light the other three.
And it's fun seeing other women's experiences with the cream, increased sex drive, better moods, better sleepy etc :)
I don't think it would hurt to try! And if it just doesn't work or you have a bad reaction of some sort then just stop and only lose about $20. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Long periods are the worst. I use a natural over the counter progesterone cream every two weeks of my cycle. And my period is like clock work now (was put on the pill when I was 11! I am 31 and went off this past March) I always bled for weeks and weeks. So this is crazy. I even ovulate! (Low carb/SF/GF is probably helping too) I spotted on all different kinds of birth control as well.
"A drop in progesterone triggers the uterus to shed its lining and start a period. When that drop comes too soon, cycles are irregular and other symptom" And women with PCOS tend to be low in progesterone.

It actually prevents hair loss if you have androgenic allopecia. I use this one https://www.amazon.com/Bio-Identical-Progesterone-Advanced-Delivery-Pro-Relief/dp/B01N12IXCM/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1528464502&sr=8-3-fkmr0&keywords=progesterone+3mg
I take abut 1/5th of a pump. It's probably the best price/value but it would be better to have a weaker one that pumps like 1-3mg at a time.

I am curious as well. I am also a few months back into transition and due to heart issues, I am on a low dose of spiro and estrogen patches. My prescribing doctor keeps pushing aside my requests about progesterone ( I was on it when I first transitioned 20 years ago), so I thought I would try some OTC cream to see if it helps, even a little bit.
I just ordered this from Amazon and started using it last night... 1 pump applied to both breasts.

Here it is: Easy-Peasy!!!
You can find it on Amazon here
So I've tried a bunch of things and had varying results. What I use right at the moment are:
Vitex
Remifemin
Those are the pill supplements I take. I'm not sure how much the Vitex is really helping. I'm about to run out and I'm not sure if I'll buy it again. As far as the Remifemin goes it really helps with the emotional crap. I notice when I don't take it. That said, I have been meaning to just get some generic black cohosh since Remifemin is a bit pricey and that's what the main ingredient in it is.
I also use a progesterone and estradiol cream. This is the progesterone:
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N12IXCM
It's the most cream for the best price I was able to find. It helps me feel...more normal I guess. I feel less like I'm about to fly apart with it, plus even when I skip my periods, with it I feel like I'm kind of in a cycle versus all over the place if that makes any sense at all, it probably doesn't, sorry. And I just started on the estradiol cream so I can't say whether I really recommend it or not. With the creams I kind of feel like I'm playing pin the tail on the donkey. I'm not really sure what I'm doing. I wish I had a better understanding of what is going on hormonally in my body in relation to the symptoms I'm experiencing. I've watched at least 30 Menopause Taylor videos and I'm probably more confused now than when I started. Nothing really helps my brain fog, but I've got fibro so….
Now for vaginal dryness - my god, that is the bane of my existence, and I don't even have a sexual partner. I've been so uncomfortable just existing. Actually my whole body is dry, but that's another kettle of fish. Anyways, I have been able to achieve a certain amount of relief doing a couple of things. First, coconut oil. I buy a giant tub from Costco and I literally put it on after every time I go to the bathroom. That alone brings a lot of relief. I think I probably have some atrophy as well, so I did some research and found these studies on DHEA:
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26731686/
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7812532/
Apparently one study used DHEA in pill form orally. I would love to do that, but there is an increased chance of hair loss with that because DHEA can be turned into testosterone. I already have some trouble with hair loss so that's why I went for the local application.
So what I do is get the completely overpriced Carlson Vitamin E suppositories, some micronized or dissolvable DHEA pills and some generic tampons from Walmart. I throw the tampon out, pull out the plunger of the applicator, and coat the inside of the applicator with some coconut oil. I open a DHEA pill (or crush it if it's a solid) and pour the contents inside the applicator followed by the vitamin e suppository, I put the plunger back in the applicator, then voila! I've got my own DHEA vitamin E suppository. You can get DHEA suppositories pre-made but they are crazy expensive. If you've got the cash have at it! For real, I'd be doing it if I could afford it. Bonus: DHEA also helps with libido. Speaking of, one thing that also helps is being sexual active which if you're dry can be a challenge, but getting blood flow to the area will really help the everything down there in general so… Either alone or with a partner, get your jollies as often as you can.
Now things I would like to try but haven't been able to afford just yet:

DIM - I actually did try this, and didn't notice a huge difference, but I've seen some people rave about it here so I want to give it a second shot
Maca
Hylauronic Acid for vaginal dryness - there have been some studies on this that have actually been noted on this board. The current products designed for vaginal use are crazy pricey though. I did come across one woman here mentioning she used just a regular dropper of the stuff, so I really want to try that I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

In the past I did try Evening Primrose Oil, Black Current Oil, and Red Raspberry Leaf. I'm open to trying them again, but I honestly don't remember seeing much of a difference. I know some women who have had great results especially with the Evening Primrose Oil for hot flashes. Since that isn't a huge symptom for me, maybe that's why I didn't notice a difference.
Aside from all that, in my opinion if you can get on HRT, go for it. I would in a heartbeat, but I'm again waiting on that vaccine. Unless you have one of a small number of health conditions, there are loads of HRT options out there. And even if you have a heart condition, or are susceptible to cancer, there may be one or two options even for those cases. I do wish there were more reliable, safe treatments for this. You'd think in this day and age there would be, but like so many things for women the medical community has fallen short. Wishing you the best with all the crazy hormones!
I remember reading the post and clicking the link.

Having tried multiple approaches for getting E into my body over the last seven years, I would rank them in the following descending order of effectiveness:
This list is based on my opinion, and your results may be idiosyncratically different. That said, getting estrogen directly into the bloodstream is the most effective method of distribution, and injecting it IM in a light oil allows the depot to slowly seep into the bloodstream over the subsequent 3-7 days. The problem with Oestrogel is that it is applied topically, mixed in an alcohol that's intended to dry quickly. You're just not going to get as effective a delivery in that lightweight, rapid absorption as if you would get if the drug were sitting in a deposit ('depot') in the muscle (usually glute), gradually seeping into the bloodstream over multiple days.
Notably, a few years ago I began applying small quantities of oestrogel to my legs, face, and breasts because in experimenting with it, I would notice slightly improved feminization in those areas post-application. Continued application resulted in a cumulative benefit that was very rewarding. I also added progesterone cream purchased from amazon to these same topical areas (as an additional supplement to my regular HRT dose of EV) with great results. Progesterone is known for rounding out body parts, particularly boobs, but I found it also worked to round my butt, my cheeks, and my jawline.
Fairly recently, Dr. Will Powers added topical estrogen/progesterone creams to his regimen for breasts and face, which gave me a confidence that I had stumbled onto something legitimately beneficial. The result for my face, breasts, and legs is added smoothness and softness, with a more filled-out, curvy, and naturally feminine appearance.
Obviously, you can't rely on this alone, and my HRT regimen includes EV (IM) and Progesterone gel-caps rectally.
I had been on and off the pill from age 11-30 and was afraid of going off for good because every time I went off I just bled and bled... Even had a lot of spotting ON the pill.
For a ton of reasons I decided to take the leap and get off the pill this pst March, but learned everything I could about natural progesterone cream before I stopped taking it for good. I use it the last two days of my period, and every day after that for a total of two weeks. I apply one pump to my boobs, once in the morning and once at night. Each pump is about 20mg.
My cycle has been PERFECT ever since using it/going off the pill. 30 day cycle! I still can't believe it. (Period is a bit heavy for two-three days and light the other three). I also ovulate!!!!
And it's fun seeing other women's experiences with the cream, increased sex drive, better moods, better sleep etc :) (I also experience all of those benefits the two weeks I use)
I knew I was naturally low in progesterone (most women with PCOS are). And I had all of the signs of estrogen dominance the first month I went off. Low progesterone is very common with PCOS and we don't make progesterone if we aren't ovulating... it's a vicious cycle.
But also! being gluten free/ sugar free/ low carb helps too - with acne, weight and my cycle.
If you find yourself having signs of low progesterone/estrogen dominance then you could give the cream a try. And if it just doesn't work or you have a bad reaction of some sort then just stop and only lose about $20. Let me know if you have any other questions!

And go see any doctor and all the doctors if you are covered girl! Never hurts to get blood drawn/hormones tested. And don't let anyone tell you that your abnormal period is NORMAL. Just being a symptom is frequent in patients doesn't make it "normal". Keep doing what you're doing and I hope a doctor/diet/maybe progesterone cream will be able to help you ❤️
(And side note- I got my period ten days early last week after breaking from my usual PCOS diet. So I know that food plays into my cycle for sure. But it has ended after getting back to my usual way of eating and using the cream.)
Yep I was terrified to go off the pill. Terrified.
I had been on and off it from age 11-30 and was afraid of going off for good because every time I went off I just bled and bled... Even had a lot of spotting ON the pill. And of course I thought my PCOS was bad enough and surely going off the pill would make all the symptoms worse!?
For a ton of reasons I decided to take the leap, but learned everything I could about natural progesterone cream before I stopped taking it for good. I use it the last two days of my period, and every day after that for a total of two weeks. I apply one pump to my boobs, once in the morning and once at night. Each pump is about 20mg.

BUT your hormones may be level enough even off the pill. I knew I was naturally low in progesterone (most women with PCOS are). And I had all of the signs of estrogen dominance the first month I went off.
So I'm happy to say that since being artificial hormone free that nothing bad has happened. My weight is exactly the same, to the pound. My hair is exactly the same. My cycles are the same but without any spotting AND I ovulate now. My skin is the same. I do have a sex drive now (fiancé is very happy about that!) and I just feel more in tune with myself... it's hard to explain, but I feel different every week depending on what part of the cycle I'm in. There are some good reads online that tie in seasons to your cycle - like your period is winter time - you want to be alone and are feeling a bit down, then summer is when you are fertile and feeling frisky and confident etc. I actually enjoy feeling ALL of the emotions a woman should feel!
But also! being gluten free/ sugar free/ low carb helps too - with acne, weight and my cycle.
I also use Spironolactone 50mg once a day, and that is what is keeping my skin and hair loss in check.
If you find yourself having signs of low progesterone/estrogen dominance then you could give the cream a try. And if it just doesn't work or you have a bad reaction of some sort then just stop and only lose about $20. Let me know if you have any other questions!

I'm so sorry that you are going through this! So scary and frustrating! to not be in control of your body. I agree with everyone else that you should try to find a doctor that will help, or maybe try a fertility or metabolic endocrinologist.
I got my period when I was almost 11 and the first period never ended, so of course, doctors couldn't figure out why so they put me on the pill when I was 12 ♀️
Every time I tried going off the pill, same thing - lonnng, heavy periods. So of course I would always go running back to birth control. But I'm happy to say that I have been off of it since March and haven't had any issues...
Now I use natural progesterone cream!
"A drop in progesterone triggers the uterus to shed its lining and start a period. When that drop comes too soon, cycles are irregular and other symptoms" And women with PCOS tend to be low in progesterone.
I don't think it would hurt to try! And if it just doesn't work or you have a bad reaction of some sort then just stop and only lose about $20. Let me know if you have any other questions!

I'm not saying that any of that will help... maybe get blood work done to see what your hormones are doing and if you are deficient in anything. Good luck hun hug
