My post was a couple weeks ago at this point and everyone wanted an update so here it is! I was asking for a good and lightweight formula that didn’t smell like sunscreen and this is exactly what I wanted!
I waited to make this update since I wanted to use it for awhile and make sure my skin liked it. It does! It goes on super easily and the lemon smell is perfect! It’s not too strong but feels so nice. Every time I put it on, I feel so refreshed from it.
I’m so excited because now that I found this, I can finally look into chemical exfoliation. I knew not to do that until I had a good sunscreen. Thank you guys!!
Edit: Since a lot of people have asked me, I bought this on Amazon here: [link]
I think there are just a lot of different listings and multiple packagings. This is the one I ordered. (though mine was sold by Garden Japan) Seems real to me. It took forever to ship so I imagine it's actually coming from Japan.
Biore UV Aqua rich watery essence. You can find it Here. Its Japanese. I love it because it goes on in a thin film.
Biore Aqua Rich! It's water-based and just sinks into your skin like magic. I'm obsessed with it! I live in Asia where it's very cheap (Not that it's that expensive on Amazon, but still double the price I can get it in Hong Kong) and I bring it home for friends, like a drug mule of Japanese sunscreen lol.
15 bucks on Amazon - not bad!
It doesn't have any whitening effect whatsoever. It's actually the consistency of a serum. It's the lightest feeling sunscreen I've ever found, while somehow being extremely high SPF. It also doesn't smell like normal sunscreen, barely has any scent at all other than a light "clean" smell. Not sticky, nothing like American sunscreens. I use it under my makeup and on my chest. It's kind of expensive so I use regular, cheaper stuff for the rest of my body if I'm going out in the sun.
Gals (and guys), if you care about keeping your skin looking young, buy it and wear it daily, even in the winter. You won't even feel it on your face, you'll have less wrinkles when you're 40 and everyone will be like "but how" and you'll be like "altruisticshawty just gave us that hot tip is all".
Edit: Amazon link for your convenience
Biore 50! You have to order it online if you’re in America. It’s an Asian beauty product. It’s so light that you can’t even tell you’re wearing anything. I am awful about reapplying. I wore it when we went to Disney world and didn’t even develop any color, let alone burn. biore on amazon
I had this same problem until I found Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence Sunscreen SPF50+ PA+++ and I will forever repurchase this stuff. I think it's Japanese and I ordered it from Amazon cause I needed it ASAP this past summer for a trip but I think you can find it on other Asian beauty websites as well.
I agree asain sunscreens are superior and there are tons on amazon. I love mine but I use it for my oily skin so probably not the best for you. If you search “sunscreen for dry skin” in this sub, there’s tons of recs.
This is the most popular rec I see; Biore Sarasara UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence Sunscreen SPF50+ PA+++ 85g (Essence) [link]
Oh, good question. I’m pretty sure I buy the 2019 formula with the cursive “aqua rich” and the first thing I would assume is that you got a old product BUT with a quick search I found this on amazon ([link]) take a look if you have this 2018 version, in the description it says:
“This is the 2018 version of this product. The 2014 printed on the package represents the year this product won the Best Cosmetic Award. It is not the manufacture date nor the expiration date.”
I also have issues with skin burning and sunscreens. Although I have had burn-free success with mineral sunscreen like the other person suggested, I would be wary if you have dark skin/ hair because sometimes mineral sunscreens can leave a white cast. Recently I got this Japanese Biore sunscreen off amazon and I love it, I was worried it would irritate my skin since reviews commented that it was scented but I had no issues. It’s also decently priced if you want to give it a look
I buy mine off Amazon, I think I have had my latest one since around September last year. Oh no, what is the one you got like? Where did you get it from? Here is the one I have.
Have you checked out r/skincareaddiction? They're usually want to suggest a ten-step skincare routine but can definitely help with the basics, too.
If you're looking for somewhere to start personally I would suggest checking out the brand CeraVe. They're drugstore and moderately priced ($10-15). Their moisturizer is amazing and although I find they break me out I've heard great things about their cleansers from hoards of people. In my opinion you also can't go wrong with Cetaphil cleanser/moisturizer. As far as SPF goes I find that Asian brand SPF is way ahead of the game. This is my personal favorite but US drugstore SPF will also work just as well at protecting your skin.
I was looking at ordering this one and it says in the review its a bigger bottle at 155ml but perhaps the review is wrong [link]
Wearing sunscreen daily may be helpful (if aren't already doing so). Avoid sunscreens with zinc oxide and titanium dioxide as these leave a white caste. A good one to try, if you want to,is the Biore UV Aqua Rich.
Amazing! It looks like you're finding milks aren't effective, but what about gel sunscreens? I'm especially curious about the super popular UV Biore watery essence: [link]
oh haha well sunscreens come a long way since then!
you should def check out some asian as well as european sunscreens
asian sunscreens are cosmetically elegant, meaning they go on nice, dont leave a white cast, finish nice, smell nice, and protect better than their American counterparts too because they're legally allowed to use filters we're not
european(and aus) sunscreens protect the best and have the most uva protection but go on a bit greasy.
This one is recommended a lot, but im not too fond of the alcohol content i prefer this one
I love Biore Watery Essence and it's on Amazon prime - get the one that says 1.7, like this one: [link]
It will last about 4 months with daily use.
You might need to expand your search into Asian and European sunscreens. In the US, typically if it doesn't have zinc oxide (which leaves a white cast), it contains avobenzone (which can sting your eyes; it also degrades as the day goes on). Asian and Europe have approved more modern, more gentle, more effective UV filters that we don't have in the US yet.
I'm a fan of Ultrasun SPF 30 Family. For me, it's an ideal sunscreen. It contains photostable UV filters that last all day, it's water resistant, fragrance-free, and so gentle that I can use it on my eyelids without any irritation whatsoever. No white cast, and it's not too shiny. I get mine from a website called FeelUnique and it arrives in about 10 days.
Biore Sarasara UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence is also a popular choice; it's even available on Amazon Prime. It is also water resistant and shouldn't sting eyes (I believe it contains octinoxate, which can cause very slight irritation to my eyes, but it doesn't sting like avobenzone does). I haven't used the reformulated version, but I assume it has fragrance. I've heard mixed things about a white cast, but I think most people don't find it to have one.
I need a larger size of Biore sunscreen and found this on Amazon. How do I know that it’s not fake?
This is my HG sunscreen: Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF50+/PA++++

For those who live in the US and ordered Biore Watery Essence on Amazon, how long did it take to arrive? It has been 3 weeks since I've ordered, and Amazon seems to think that my package is lost, but maybe that's normal? (My store source says Kyotoite Store)
YES!! And if you hate thick ones, try an Asian sunscreen. Biore sunscreen is on amazon and it's pretty great, but there are a ton of good options now, just check r/AsianBeauty or r/SkincareAddiction. My favorite Western sunscreen is probably Elta Md's, but there are a ton of good options available now. Even powder sunscreen!
