This is my Black and Decker Cup At A Time coffee maker that I bought in January 1994. Model is DCM6.
This coffee maker saw daily use from 1994-2005, 3-4x weekly since 2005. It still brews a great cup of coffee every time and has held up very well for almost 25 years old.
The B&D one cup model is now called Brew 'n Go, and it is model number DCM18. By all appearances and by progression of the model number series, it is the exact same maker... albeit it is only made in black now, and it comes with either a beige/black or stainless/black travel mug. Amazon link
I got a Keurig for Christmas. It was cool; no doubt. But I'd had one of these for years. It uses regular grounds; doesn't take long to make a cup. The K-cups were so expensive that I ended up donating the Keurig to the office.
> not because it's the best or cheapest method
I would hope not.
Because it is about the most expensive way to have coffee.
And it's not really that much more convenient than my Brew-n-go
> If you only drink one cup of coffee a day, wouldn't it be better to use a single-cup brewer over time?
Absolutely.
That's why I have a Brew-n-go.
I've had my current one for about 5 years. The previous one lasted about 15 years before it burned out.
A little background here. I am from Nicaragua, and i've been a coffe drinker since before i was a year old.
We are given cafe con leche mixed with sweet cookies mixed in as a mush as kids.
Anyway, i've tried all kinds of coffee brewing types. From the chorreado wich is the way the haciendas/fincas/plantations make coffee, to french pressed, cuban style (stove top), etc etc.
I am not looking for a better way to brew coffee, i basically use this little coffee maker 'cause i'm too lazy to make coffee any other way in the morning.
I am currently using Dunkin' Donuts coffee which to me is pretty good.
I have tried maxwell house, folger's, and they taste terrible. My question is, is there any coffee out there that tastes like dunkin' donuts coffee? I am just trying to save some money as dunkin donuts coffee has drastically gone up in price since the company changed its image and trying to be more like starbucks.
I like central american coffee cafe britt from costa rica, and especially dipilto shade grown from nicaragua, hell even cafe 1800 is ok, but using this single serve coffee maker i am looking for a coffee grind like dunkin' donuts. something not too strong, and that makes a good tastintg cup of coffee...
so , anyone care to suggest a coffee grind/brand?
My preference is this.
My personal opinion is that Alexa is better at home automation than Google is, especially for Routines, but Google should still be able to do everything you want.
Using a smart plug to start your 1 cup coffee maker shouldn't be a problem as long as you get one that has a regular push-to-start switch, the kind that actually resets the thermostatic shut off; an example of that is the Black & Decker Brew 'n Go.

Smart lights are also not a problem since all you need to do is put them in the light socket; those can be dimmed as well as give you the option to get RGB lights for various colors. For a floor or desk lamp that you would always want just white light you could use a smart plug or a smart dimmer, and use standard LED light bulbs.
Most smart bulbs and smart plugs that are listed as working with Alexa will also say they work with Google Assistant.
One advantage of a smart lock would be that you could remotely tell if the door is locked/unlocked, and could unlock it for someone at your door without having to get up. I do not have a smart lock but there are many that say they will work with Alexa and Google Assistant.
Hi All. I'm in the market for a coffee maker and figure I'd run it by the experts as I figure my coffee game can be improved.
I have been using the Black and Decker coffee maker linked below for over 5 years and is super simple. Fill up the back portion with water and has a re-usable filter where I can put ground coffee and in a couple minutes a cut of hot coffee is made. The machine heats the water for me and have no complaints and coffee tastes fine to me.
Wondering what you would recommend as a step up from this? I would like to use pre ground coffee and I'm lazy so the faster I can make a cup the better.
I looked at the Clever Dripper which looked interesting but I'm unsure if you can use pre ground coffee with it. I saw the AeroPress as well but looks too complicated. Not sure if there are any good options out there that can make a quick cup of coffee and wondering what you recommend.
I generally think you are over thinking it. This sub has a lot of people really into the technical side of brewing, and suggestions like AeroPress reflect this, even whil it's a decent suggestion (disclaimer: I love mine). I think you would be more than happy with whatever options your local walmart/department store could have.
I think the one cup drip above is good but from a brief search I'd also suggest maybe:

I found these by searching "one cup drip coffee maker" in Amazon.
This one comes with a travel mug!

I drink coffee every day and most of the time, multiple cups throughout the day. I barely discovered Keurig coffee makers a few years ago and my first thought was how wasteful the disposable pods were being that they're single serve.
I've had this Black and Decker single serve coffee maker for 7+ years and although it still works, I got a newer Black and Decker coffee makerthat allows taller cups to be used. These coffee makers even come with a re-usable coffee filter that uses a steel mesh screen so the only thing I throw away are the coffee grounds.

I use this coffee maker and It's the best drip i've had so far, especially with the re-usable filter it comes with.
It's only 15 bucks too.
Thanks. I bought a Brew and Go from Amazon.

Black & Decker DCM18S Brew 'n Go Personal Coffeemaker with Travel Mug by Black & Decker http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00005MF9C/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_.q2Itb1X6M0Z3 This $15 coffee maker has treated me very well. It's a really basic set up that takes 1 table spoon of ground coffee and makes a pretty decent cup. I have one that I use every day and I bought while I was in college so it's two years old now and is still working just fine. Pros: perfect as a one-cup wonder. Con: only takes cups of a certain height.
