What is Reddit's opinion of BLACK+DECKER Indoor Space Heater, Infrared Heater with E-Save Function, 1500W?

So based on the figure shown on the Amazon. These Edison bulbs (which I picked due to shape and look for my fixture, not energy) run about $7.20 per year based on 3 hrs per day at $0.11 kWh. Or about $0.60 a month

Now a LED bulb of 10W (equivalent to this bulbs brightness) at 3 hrs per day at $0.11 kWh is about $1.20 a year or $0.10 a month.

That’s a difference of $5.19 a year.

Based off a quick google search it looks like convection space heaters are the most efficient. They run between 750 - 1500 watts, like this one.

Again using the same calculations, of 3 hrs per day at $0.11 kWh that’s about $7.53-$15.06 a month. Or $90.35-$180.69 a year, all though I know you’re definitely not using one all year around most places.

So in just one month of using a space heater you’re already spending more money than if you switched bulbs for a year. Plus the bulbs are multi functional, with light and heat!

You also have to take in consideration how many bulbs you’re switching, I don’t think your should do your whole house. And off set that cost vs the cost of how much a space heater is as well.

You could also have summer LED bulbs (if you already have them) and winter bulbs (something that gives off heat). This way you’d save both during the summer via ac fighting against your room temperature and on how much your lights draw and in the winter on your heating bill.
