Well, you have a couple of solutions.
One, get a notebook that does fit in your pocket. If you choose this, look for a notebook that is NOT spiral bound. You want a pretty thin one that is stapled through the center. It's cool if you can find ones that are fine-ruled so you can fit more words per page. One of these will fit in your back pocket and you will hardly even know it's there.
Two, start carrying a small rucksack that has room for your bigger notebook. You can put a bottle of water, tissues, hand sanitizer and a spare face mask in it as well.
I do the latter. The notebook I use is this:
But I use an older version that is not spiral/ring-bound. I bought a bunch in bulk a few years back. It's got a bunch of pages and a fair amount of lines per page.
I have written entire scenes in that notebook. Sometimes I jot down things I want to write about a character or scene so I don't forget.
One thing I do is, I convert my drafts to a format for kindle then when I'm at work on my breaks, I'll proof-read. I'll make notes in the notebook about corrections I want to apply.
I write down all sorts of ideas, snippets of conversations, scenarios etc. You WILL forget these things if you don't write them down. I can't tell you how many times I've looked in one of my notebooks after a long time and seen some quick dialogue/setting that came to me while I was out and about that I completely forgot about.
I from time to time use stayfocusd on google chrome and I'm good about only using chrome so that works pretty well. One thing I do is reward myself for things like letting stayfocusd do it's job [i.e. not turning it off]. I'm sure apple aps and extensions will do the job too. I just have always used windows and google.
I use droid for a lot of my organizational system but I also use those aps in conjunction with a quality notepad that'll fit in most pockets with an erasable ink pen in the spine. I've proably bought about 30 frixion gel pens/refills in the past year and a half... I barely ever lose them now. also the spine of the black n' red notebook is very resilient to shoving the pens in the spine which is nice.
I've been using a pomodoro system loosely for about the past 6 months but I'd say I use it 3-6x daily, 4-6days/wk... Better than nothing.
Depending on how hard I found it to start the individual pomodoro session and complete the session I'll reinforce myself by adding usually around 60 cents to $1.20 to a luxury expenditures virtual piggy bank on top of taking 5-10 min breaks. I'll leave it there for now.
