It's a shame Black Rednecks and While Liberals isn't available on Kindle now. It just says "Item under Review" and "The Kindle title is not currently available for purchase". Its been like that for weeks. I wonder if this is just an innocent copyright or formatting issue or if the Amazon ban hammer has stuck again.

I am not comparing apples to oranges by comparing the people who support the killing of police officers in New York, who "burn this bitch down" or "tear it down" with the murderers of matt Shepard, for both are the groups creating the tension in the situation. The reason the government can use force and you cannot is that we have given the government that discretion as part of the social contract. If you would rather live a life that is brutish, nasty, and short, you are free to leave the contract, you just can't stay here after. But you will
Just keep pretending you are being oppressed by the system. Assume everyone who disagrees with you is a white cis middle class male who pays his taxes and you're in the clear. Surprisingly enough the country works; you've just seen all these great movies and hear about the few instances where something goes wrong that make national news because of their rarity and you want to rebel against something. What do you think is going to happen when you've pissed enough people off? When a majority of the public hates your movement?
As for your "systemic racism" here's a Dr. Thomas Sowell book that may interest you. There is also a free audio copy on YouTube the last few essays deal with the lingering effects of slavery, of education in minority communities, and the civil rights movement. (don't worry Dr. Sowell is black).
You don't like the government, or even the concept of government do you then? But you want the government to change for you and your small group, well at least your belief in the death of democracy is consistent.
You're trying to light a fire and blame the fire department when the house burns down, you are living in the republic Gracchis, and you want to provoke a Caesar.
You should read Thomas Sowell's "Black Rednecks and White Liberals" next and see how it compares.
The book was actually lauded when it was released as a window into the mind of someone who wouldvote for Donald Trump. That was... until he was actually was inaugurated then started making decisions. More recent reviews of the movie are pretty hate-fueled with their aim being to never let anyone like him be elected again, and to demonize any experience that validated his election in the first place. Contrast the reviews of the book and that of the movie and the difference is sometimes night and day.
Vance himself considers the hillbilly culture toxic, and sincerely wishes to fix its many problems. He also derides gov't run programs like food stamps. (as a former cashier at a major supermarket, I actually empathize with this opinion) “I could never understand why our lives felt like a struggle while those living off government largesse enjoyed trinkets that I only dreamed about.”
If you wanted something else to help understand or identify with the type of cultural issues that he was exploring, may I suggest White Liberals and Black rednecks by Thomas Sowell.
Awesome! I now have some idea what you're talking about regarding the election. What's somewhat less awesome, now that I know what you're talking about, your argument looks like a lot of whataboutism without any relationship to a discussion on racism. Perhaps you could provide a link with some evidence that the two are related in some meaningful way?
It was wonderful that you made one point about racism in the US. It was regarding lynching, I'm struggling to find any data regarding lynchings post 1968. Since you seem very concerned with the problem maybe you'd care to link an article regarding the effects of modern day lynching in the US? I'd be fascinated.
Frankly, I'm much more concerned by the effects of liberal racism.
>Nearly a hundred years of the supposed “legacy of slavery” found most black children [78%] being raised in two-parent families in 1960. But thirty years after the liberal welfare state found the great majority of black children being raised by a single parent [66%].
Again, I'd recommend reading Thomas Sowell's books, perhaps starting with "Black Rednecks and White Liberals"
