Tell him to get one with grips that are perpendicular to the lifting plane, like this. I have this one, and the bar wobbles a bit when you're going up in weight. I think this is due to the angled grip and uneven pressure in your palms when you press. Being off just a little bit causes the bar to wobble in your hands. Kind of scary when you have 300 pounds over your head and it starts to jiggle.
