 McCarthy bae
edit-
I remember the first time I stickied a "McCarthy was right" post, a couple of years ago. There was a lot of backlash by misled people spouting all of the lies you commonly hear about that hero.
It's nice to see the change in sentiment around here.
Also also read Blacklisted From History, the go-to book about the truth about McCarthy. Warning, it's pretty dry, but you're guaranteed to learn something you didn't already know, however much you think you do. The parts about total black holes in history (Like certain newspaper days/articles surrounding McCarthy events "going missing" from microfilm libraries) alone is insane.
The book you'll want to read is Blacklisted from History.
Basically, every primary source we'd use to confirm or deny the public facing image of McCarthy is missing, and presumably destroyed. We're instead expected to trust second hand sources of dubious veracity, often from the exact people McCarthy was accusing.
They may not 100% match up, but they significantly match up.
And for those not familiar with the Venona Papers, these are Soviet archives that were briefly available in the early 1990s after the fall of the USSR that largely validated Joe McCarthy. The key book on the topic is M. Stanton Evans' Blacklisted by History: The Untold Story of Senator Joe McCarthy and His Fight Against America's Enemies. A good chunk of Ann Coulter's book Treason: Liberal Treachery from the Cold War to the War on Terrorism is based on Evans' book.
Nothing McCarthy did lost him the support of the public. He lost the support of the public based on things reported about him that were entirely false. The internet didn't exist, it was harder to see through the communist bullshit.
I'd recommend giving Blacklisted By History a read.
If you are actually interested, check out this book: Blacklisted by History.
I am reading through that right now (actually listening, as I got it in audiobook form), and it's shocking how lied to we are in school, with regards to McCarthy.
You should read Blacklisted by History, by Stanton Evans. Turns out the Venona Papers vindicated McCarthy.... And then let that sink in. The communist have been infiltrating our government since the 1920's..
Read a little tome called Blacklisted by History.
It goes into a lot about the infiltration of communists in the US government as early as the 1920's and their roles in the cringe fringe left and goals of destabilization of the US.
Read up on what really happened. It's really quite fascinating, especially if you are into conspiracies.
Are you aware of the famous Joseph Welch "Have you no decency?" moment? This was supposedly McCarthy's Waterloo, shamed and destroyed for accusing Welch's assistant Fred Fisher of having been a member of the National Lawyer's Guild, a Communist front group. As it turns out, Welch himself had already outed and fired Fisher for the same reason. His public "outrage" was just a show.
>Implying the red scare was not based in reality
McCarthy was unequivocally correct about communist subversion. Saying that the intentional destruction of our culture has happened simply because people fell asleep at the wheel and allowed it to happen only demonstrates the inability and ineffectiveness of ruggedly individualism to combat what is an existential threat to the Western world.
McCarthy is infamous because the education system told you that. How much do you actually know about McCarthy? This is exactly my point, education has been coopted for so long you just believe McCarthy was wrong for no reason other than that's what you were told. https://www.amazon.com/Blacklisted-History-Senator-McCarthy-Americas/dp/1400081068
Should it be any surprise that a system co-opted by commies has attempted to brand a guy who went after commies as the bad guy?
All the votes were counted, academics studied this issue to death -- they considered each ballot again and again, added up tallies, etc etc. The final consensus is that Mr Bush won.
This has become mythology somewhat like McCarthyism. (McCarthy was an overbearing buffoon, but this does not mean that he was wrong, as the Venona transcripts show --this is fascinating reading, how many of McCarthy's "victims" were not victims at all, but were working with the USSR...)
"Evans presents irrefutable evidence of a relentless Communist drive to penetrate our government, influence its policies, and steal its secrets. Most shocking of all, he shows that U.S. officials supposedly guarding against this danger not only let it happen but actively covered up the penetration. All of this was precisely as Joe McCarthy contended...."

“The depression was the calculated ‘shearing’ of the public by the World Money powers, triggered by the planned sudden shortage of supply of call money in the New York money market. The One World Government leaders and their ever close bankers have now acquired full control of the money and credit machinery of the U.S. via the creation of the privately owned Federal Reserve Bank.” Curtis Dall, FDR’s son-in-law as quoted in his book, My Exploited Father-in-Law
The book Blacklisted by History is what opened my eyes on the subject.
Stefan Molyneux did a lengthy presentation on it, based largely on the book.

Have you ever read this book - it's 672 pages defending McCarthy and its thesis was he was actually on to something
It seems like history has really had its way with the Senator and a more objective reexamination might be worthwhile?
Yes, they declassified decrypted soviet cables in the 90s literally proved him right on everything.
Of course, you probably think McCarthyism has something to do with a House run initiative HUAC that blacklisted actors and stuff...which is nonsense because he was a senator, not a congressman.
Here is some light reading you will never even attempt, on the subject
https://www.amazon.ca/Blacklisted-History-Senator-McCarthy-Americas/dp/1400081068
Remember that these decrypted cables were merely DECLASSIFIED in the 90s, they were known truths to those in government in the 40s
here is a link to the declassified venona files directly from the NSA. here is a link to the Wikipedia article about it. From the article “Some of the decoded Soviet messages were not declassified by the United States and published until 1995.” Blacklisted By History was published in 2009. Now if that’s not enough sources for you I’m very certain google can accommodate the inquisitive mind who would like to truly learn more about the Venona files and Joe McCarthy.
I always see Hollywood Communist propaganda about McCarthy in these threads.
Before you peddle the bullshit you've been taught by the media and, sadly, your schools (McCarthy was right), read the truth.

Frankfurt school tactics:
It turned out McCarthy was right and our government at the time was completely infiltrated by communists in the highest levels of government influencing Truman.
Bear in mind that the left deliberately keeps the evils of socialist and communist history out of academia. That’s why you will have some trouble finding sources. Same with Wikipedia, the MSM, Hollywood.

Actually, you've been lied to about Joseph McCarthy, it turns out he was very justified in looking for communists in the US Govt. Stefan Molyneux goes into it in great detail in a video of his. There's also a good book on the subject.
Hi HHH! I would like to educate you more - but I'm off to the beach now! (Sunny day in Bondi!)
From http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/Articles/The%20Enemy%20Within.html
We now know that many of those heralded as innocent victims of a McCarthyite witch hunt were in reality bona fide Soviet agents — some of them working in the White House, State Department, and OSS. Prominent among these were Alger Hiss, Duncan Lee, Maurice Halperin, Carl Marzani, Lauchlin Currie, and Harry Dexter White. (There were scores of others.) Many of them had been named first by former Communist spy Elizabeth Bentley.
And read the book:
https://www.amazon.com/Blacklisted-History-Senator-McCarthy-Americas/dp/1400081068
It's different in that the "1950's era anti-communist witch hunts" were right.
Oh, nobody told you this? You don't say.
Still waiting for the evidence of Spencer being a "self described Nazi".

>you know "commies bad" only happened after the cold war right

Incorrect you prion head birdbrain. The "alliance" with commies was a matter of circumstance, a deal with the devil, so to say, and the allies were planning to attack them as soon as they were done with Germany.

General Patton said, on record, that "we defeated the wrong enemy" after the war. This was a high profile general, who had said before the war "And when we get to Berlin, I am personally going to shoot that paper hanging son-of-a-bitch Hitler. Just like I'd shoot a snake!".

Among the general population of USA, there was a disdain for the commies, called pejoratively as Pinko (coined in 1925).

Laws like the Hatch Act of 1939, which was aimed against the Communists, and Public Law 135 (1941), which sanctioned the investigation of any federal worker suspected of being Communist and the firing of any Communist worker were passed at the height of the war.

In 1943, 90% of Americans said they'd rather lose the war with Nazis than end segregation (Source : Troubling the Waters: Black-Jewish Relations in the American Century, Chapter 3, Page 81). Furthermore, the Nazi eugenics program was inspired by California.

Nazi Germany and USA had much more in common than USSR and USA.

The Dunning-Kruger is strong with you. Don't worry though, it's just your genetic retardation, an immutable characteristic, so to say. Just don't reproduce.

>Nazis and ethno nationalists don't get on
Most of their disagreements are on methodology. There won't be many, among the already <0.1% Neo Nazis, who'd complain if they get a white only ethnostate.

>that's like arguing ISIS would disappear in an all Islamic homeland
Brainlet analogy. ISIS is funded by Saudi Arabia and operates on non "Islamic" homeland. 1448 odd Neo Nazis remaining in the Ethno States of America won't pose any threat nor would have any motivation to do so.

There are other books by historians and investigators with a similar theme, but the conclusion is indisputable. McCarthy was right on many of his accusations, and suffered a smear campaign after he died conducted by journalists and other social influencers who were secretly sympathetic to the USSR, and felt threatened by McCarthy and what he represented.

I would say he was terrible if I still believed what I was taught in high school. He was proven right decades after he was demonized. Here’s a list of books for further reading.
tl;dr he never revealed his infamous list of commie spies to congress or the public to prevent a witch hunt. The list was then later verified by two separate communist defectors and decrypted Soviet cables (Verona)
I watched this whole 3 hour video it was very interesting. It’s about the below books.
