Grow Light, BLOOMSPECT Dimmable SL1000 LED Grow Lights Full Spectrum for Indoor Plants with Samsung Diodes, 1000W Plant Growing Lamps with Reflector H https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08CZGXFRK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_FoGeSxzotHWGo This is what I use, cheap and works well
Just ordered THIS one on a lightening deal - thank you!
You gotta get a better light.
You can try to move those closer, not sure as I haven't tried with those. They won't be powerful enough for veg & flower though. Not 2 at least. Again I have no experience with those.
If you're looking for just a smaller grow, you can nab a decent board style light for cheap.

There's one for 50 bucks, it would be a massive upgrade from the cfls
Probably should look at the Mixjoy/Spider Farms/Mars Hydro lights tbh. 1000/2000 series (150+ range) would be efficient for a small space.
I have a Mixjoy GL4000s, I'm very happy with it. Also the qb lights are very efficient as they run on the cooler side, and use far less electricity.
You can do about 100 (real) watts from Amazon for about $50 with dimmable capabilities. I got two of these and have had good success with them. They are probably sold under a few different names. The dimmable option is what makes this, IMO, a good buy. They are cheap, but so far so good. Two grows in now.
I have that same exact light. I love it for starting seedlings, but you're gonna need a better one soon. I recommend this Bloomspect LED only $40 on Amazon and it can do 1-2 plants. I'd also recommend to try to do more with fewer plants, but I can't say I didn't learn that the hard way haha. Happy growing!
You can get a starter quantum board, at least 100 watts at the wall for $40 on amazon at the cheapest.
I Use a Bloomspect SL1000, which is a Mars Hydro TS600, 100w rebrand.
It was $40. It's not perfect, but it's cheaper than 10+ LED bulbs would be anyways.

Another vote for the Bloomspect lights on Amazon. I have three of these SL1000 lights, each covering a 3x3 area or roughly 6 plants in my setup, and they've been excellent. I'll be picking up a couple more to increase my grow capacity during the colder months.
Whoops, totally forgot to mention the light. I already own two Bloomspect SL1000. They do put off a small amount of heat but overall don't get very warm.
I do own a small space heater, but it's a large open basement and I don't have a tent or anything. I was hoping to grow in the open to keep things simple. Do you think that is doable?
I think these desk lamps are probably too weak for most purposes. It's honestly really hard to find a good one since most grow lights you find online are made in China and the specs may be lies. Even if they're correct, it's hard to determine what numbers actually matter.
I personally use this https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B08CZGXFRK?pf_rd_r=4YBGNRWYX67P8XN0EZWS
As far as I can tell, it's bright as heck, silent, and my plants are doing all right.

what do you think about this one ?
buy this
i have only one plant growing in a 2x4 tent and its doing amazing since i switched to this light
the dimmer really helps
Neither. You want 3000k to 5000k LEDs for plant vegetative growth. Anything above 5000k is too blue, and doesn't have enough red light for your plants. When People say 6500k they're talking about florescent lights, but they put out different wavelengths to achieve 6500k than LEDs do.
I'm not sure what your budget/other restrictions are, but I would look for something marketed as a grow light, has 2x the wattage/led, has a built in dimmer, and doesn't have a usb style plug. This kind is what I'm using for mine, it's at about 80% power and about 1ft above the enclosure, and my plants are going nuts.
If that's not your thing, these are much closer to your initial choice both in style and price, but will make your plants significantly happier. They don't have any dimming, but they're not as strong, so dimming them isn't as big of a concern.
wattage is not super reliable since there are so many other factors. I'll just recommend this light since it's pretty affordable and the plants I keep under it are growing despite only getting 80% brightness for 8 hours daily

Right now just two budget led boards.

No it isn't only the light. Substrate, nutrients and proper watering are all important as well. I do think the light is one of, if not the most important factor, though.
I'm using one of each of these two lights and I've had great success for my first grow. Check out my post history if you're curious:
The first light I linked is on sale for $40 right now! Im sure it isn't quite as nice as the spider farmer or Mars hydro lights but is probably the most bang for your buck of any light I've seen on Amazon. $40 is such a great price and it's a really solid light.
As someone who is just finishing up his first grow I will tell you what I did.
First thing you need to do is figure out your grow space and how big it is. Are you going to use a closet? A basement? Buy a grow tent? For one plant you should only need a 2ft x 2ft space. You could probably even get away with it being a bit smaller.
Second thing you should do is ask yourself how stealthy this grow needs to be. Plants get really friggin' smelly as they get into late flower so if you're concerned about other people smelling your plants then you really need to plan for that.
First thing I would buy is your light. I got this one for $40 and it's been awesome for my first grow!
You'll have a lot of people recommend Mars Hydro or Spider Farmer brand lights, and while I'm sure they're great they are also more expensive. If you're willing to spend a bit more go for one of those brands but if you want to save some money and still get some nice looking plants the one I linked is great.
You're going to want a couple of small fans, a hygrometer to measure the temp and humidity in your grow space and ideally a pH meter and TDS meter (not 100% necessary but very helpful.
Get some soil and either a 3 gallon or 5 gallon pot. Fox farm is an affordable, popular brand of soil and should have enough nutrients to last your plant for the first 4 weeks or so of it's life.
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. I've learned so much from this sub and would be happy to pass along the info I have learned here!
I'm definitely no expert but my understanding is blurples are inferior in almost every way. Will they work? Definitely. But you should definitely invest in something like this:
That's one of the lights I use and it's been great. It's power draw is 100w. It's not one of the really popular brands which is why it's cheaper but it uses Samsung diodes just like the name brands. I run two lights just like this and my plants are doing great so far.
This one here is one of the most popular lights I see people talk about in this sub. This is the 100w one but they make 200, 300 and 450 watt lights as well. And probably others.
I want to stop highjacking this thread but feel free to message me if you want any input on lights. I'm new to growing indoors myself but I've done a ton of research so I feel pretty well versed when it comes to lights.
I'm running one of these:
And one of these:
I recent started my first indoor autoflower grow myself and was also on a tight budget. Even a tad tighter of a budget than you have. I spent a lot of time researching things like lights, grow medium, nutrients, seeds etc etc
My grow is in my spare bedroom closet so I didn't need a tent. It is a 2x2 space though so I imagine you will need similar stuff to me.
The first thing I looked into was my light. I planned to grow two autos in my 2x2 space and based on the research I did I determined I would need somewhere between 100-200 watts of good led lights. Grow light brands like Spider Farmer and Mars Hydro get a lot of love on this sub, and while I'm sure it's deserved, I was looking to spend significantly less money than those brands typically cost. I settled on this one. It may not be quite as good as those other more expensive brands but it does use Samsung diodes and MeanWell Driver (just like spider farmer). The main selling point for me, however, was that it's $50 on Amazon right now. I've had really good results with this light so far.
For grow medium you cant go wrong with the fox farm brand. Ocean forest and happy frog are their two most popular kinds in this sub and they are both very affordable.
As far as seeds go I just purchased some from Twisted Tree. They are out of Michigan and honestly I don't know if they will ship to outside the US. But their prices really can't be beat. $12 for two packs and $25 for 5 packs and based on everything I've read and people I've talked to they are supposed to be excellent genetics.
I did quite a bit of research on nutrients as well. Jack's nutrients is very cheap and everyone who I've spoken with who has used Jack's has had nothing but good things to say. What I use is called Jack's 321. It comes in 3 parts and you mix it yourself. It's much, MUCH cheaper than buying liquid nutrients like advanced nutrients or the fox farm trio.
As for tents, I only just purchased my first one yesterday and I bought it used. If you check out Amazon you can find some 2x2 tents in the $60-$80 range I believe.
I'm certainly not an expert so take everything I say with a grain of salt but if you have any questions about anything you're more than welcome to pm me. Good luck!
As for all the other little things you'll need (small fans, pots,
Probably not. I'd go for something like this it's gonna be your cheapest option for getting good results

It's not the best, but it has 100w true power, full spectrum, $40 shipped to your door, it's a Mars Hydro TS600 clone/rebranded.
$40 100W light. I bought mine for $75 but price decreased a lot. Check my posts if you want to see some pics of my bud light
That's about all mine was good for. Just got this. Way brighter than I expected it to be.
