Mhh I would say to boot with Linux, and put the usb driver on the win file system, maybe try to find the driver directly and put it on the driver folder that worked for me in some old windows systems, or if your computer has bluetooth buy an compatible bt mouse hope that helps...
I purchased this mouse from Amazon for $13. Pairs easily, good internal battery & recharge. Use it on my flaired Chromebook, and also on my Thinkpads; all ok.
At first, it was fine. A few days later, the top scroll wheel became tough to roll. Much later, it got better. (Crazy, I know!) Anyway, maybe you get what you pay for.

What's your budget?
This $12 one works "ok" for me. I do have BT problems but I really suspect that's more a problem with software than hardware.
Can always go with something cheaper: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KNQRQ3P/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_TV5Z9K4YMXS0AGTYEF8B
