I use this Anker speaker…long 24H play time…it stays in the shower. I don’t need to charge it for weeks! I also use one in the car, since it sounds better than the factory speakers in my 2007 Toyota RAV4 :-)
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016XTADG2/
Only thing it doesn’t have is skip forward or backward, but I only spend 15 mins or less in the shower so this isn’t a problem for me :-)
We've got a very similar setup to what you're describing for music on our patio. I power a Chromecast audio off one of those big travel battery packs, and use an Anker self-powered portable speaker with an aux port with the Chromecast physically plugged into it. It's been working great for us for 3 years now!
Connect with a community. A big one for me is Reddit because it’s the best Pelo community (duh), but plan rides with friends, follow people with hilarious usernames, follow people who have similar output, join live rides. Immersing yourself will naturally help you push harder.
I have this $20 speaker I bought a few years ago and it balances perfectly on my bike and has great sound output and I don’t have to worry about future hearing loss with headphones
Decide whether or not you’re going to work out after you work out. This sounds silly, but rhere has only been 1 time where I regretted working out, and that was because I had a cold brewing. I nearly never regret a workout. That being said, listen to your body!
Yes, it's a good little speaker, with surprisingly nice sound for its size. I use one as a laptop speaker and it's way better than the built-in audio -- not that that's saying much! It doesn't go lower than this price.
If you are still in the market. This meets your requirements and has $2.00 off coupon. Total of $25.
Upgraded, Anker Soundcore Bluetooth Speaker with IPX5 Waterproof, Stereo Sound, 24H Playtime, Portable Wireless Speaker for iPhone, Samsung and More https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016XTADG2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_WAEXB7ZB9QRGT2B96QG9
I got this one from Anker a few years back. Anker makes really good, affordable stuff.
It's small, holds a charge for ages, and the sound is great. Last year I used it for a listening test in a small lecture hall with about 100 students, and it worked perfectly.
We've had an Anker sound core in our kitchen for a couple months. It's been dropped in aoli, hot steam table water, dented, battered, bruised, inspected, detected and erected and Somehow it's still kicking. Plus replacements are only about 30 buckaruskis. Link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016XTADG2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_6csHCb68F0ARZ Edit: my auto correct apparently doesn't like the word aoli
Anything with a 3.5mm jack. Attempting a bluetooth speaker in portable mode would make the whole thing, not-so-portable.
Ok so I am about to buy this dongle, can you tell me if it will give my PC Bluetooth? My PC is Windows 10 64 Bit. https://www.amazon.ca/Anker-SoundCore-Dual-Driver-Bluetooth-Distortion/dp/B016XTADG2/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1514757500&sr=1-1&keywords=anker+soundcore
Anker soundcore could be a viable option.

Hoping to get some help with portable bluetooth speakers. I bought one of these from Anker, and it's great except for one really annoying thing. It can only remember one bluetooth pairing profile. So, if I want to switch from my phone to my wife's phone, or the iPad, or whatever, I have to clear its bluetooth memory, go into pairing mode, and pair to the new device.
I like the size, the sound quality, the battery life, the brand (I have other Anker products that I love), but I want it to be able to remember multiple devices pairings so switching is simple. Searching for that specific feature on amazon has been difficult, so I'm hoping I can get some recommendations. Thanks!
Many people are commenting as if OP asked generally about radio and sources of music. I get that. Makes sense.
I listen to Dean and Rog in the mornings via Tune In via Alexa Dot, over a decent Anker Bluetooth speaker and/or my home stereo, but as soon as a commercial starts, I stop it.
I start my morning with, "Alexa, flash briefing." Then I get headlines from NPR, the weather from KPRC (Ch. 2), and local headlines from ABC-13. (I've configured the news brief via the Alexa app on my phone.)
When commercials play on The Eagle, I switch to NPR or to one of my Amazon music playlists or channels.
In the truck, I usually start with NPR, but I'll hop around through the classic rock radio stations and even some of the C & W. Or I'll play my music via the Google Play app.
I always recommend this speaker to pair with a dot. It never goes to sleep for me either. https://www.amazon.com/Anker-SoundCore-Bluetooth-Dual-Driver-Distortion/dp/B016XTADG2/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1490723211&sr=1-3&keywords=anker+soundcore
I have this one and it's fucking amazing. Bought it for my hotel room in Vegas last year and it was a great thing to have. Anker in general makes very good products.
Also used it in my Uhaul when moving with Spotify, which you can download music onto your phone so it doesn't stream data. Perfect.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016XTADG2/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
If you leave it plugged in, it never loses connection.
If you unplug it, it doesn't either, but after a set amount of time it will beep to ask you to recharge it (several days, depending on use)
Great speaker, on sale now for 43.
I just use an Anker speaker. A friend recommended it, and it's been a great choice.

The battery lasts for a loooooong time. It is supposed to last for up to 24 hours on a full charge.
The sound is pretty good. I live in an apartment, so I don't need anything huge, and this one is more than enough for me to listen to in the living room and kitchen.
I have it connected to the WiiU with the USB cable, so it charges whenever I play, and I haven't had to touch it in weeks now. Overall, I've been very happy with it, and would definitely recommend it.
But like mentioned, as far as i know, it needs to be wired to have more than one speaker at a time connected.
You may need to get a bluetooth speaker instead, i don't know that there's really a way to do this. I highly recommend this Anker one, it's the best thing you can possibly get for $40.
This may or may not be helpful, but I went on a long quest to find the best mp3 of rain sounds. Many videos are short and the long ones can just be a short clip stitched together.
Somehow, after tiring of paying for Pzizz, I stumbled across a 10 hour recording on Archive.Org. Not only is the fidelity great but the intensity changes. This may be AI generated or could actually just be a damn good 10 hour recording.
Either way if I need a good relaxing sound to read or sleep to I play this on my phone through a bluetooth speaker.
While I recommend both the Anker Soundcore Bluetooth Speaker as well as the Amazon Basics Bluetooth Speaker for their portability and sound, I personally prefer the former for its much fuller sound. (Both links show the black version of the device, although both come in different colors).
Google home mini does not sound that good really. You might actually get better sound from some cheap bluetooth speakers. Look at some of the Anker and Aukey bluetooth speakers on amazon.

Received my two N920s from FromJapan recently https://www.reddit.com/r/minidisc/comments/n8la7o/unreasonably_excited_to_get_back_into_the/
Just had to make a video, hope you like it. Sabotage!
While FromJapan is not cheap, the whole thing was still worth it compared to eBay. Their website works well and they did a good job packing the devices well and shipping them to me quickly. I’m now a fan of FromJapan :) Happy to answer any questions you may have.
Both devices are in good shape overall. One of them had a faulty headphone jack and the left channel was cutting out, but I was able to fix it by re-soldering the connections on the board!
MD is just so cool. Brings back good memories. It’s a shame that there’s no viable future for this sort of media.

Great golfing speaker.
I use these Anker speakers, they have pretty good bass, reasonable small footprint, are weatherproof, and have good battery life: https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B016XTADG2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
You can heare them in use here, the first dead men tell no tales is out on the front fence and faces away to the street, the second is the talking skeleton (in the rib cage) and third is the singing pumpkins: https://old.reddit.com/r/HalloweenProps/comments/yj3ygb/aussie_halloween/
A soundbar isn't what you're looking for.
> The power cord must end with USB-A and receive power from a computer (no wall plug here)
> Ideally available in a color that isn't black or grey (so it can be easily seen and found)
Those pretty much eliminate soundbars.
Here's a well-known brand with a 24 hour battery.
If you have to have one that's a different color, this should give you options.

You didn't really define what you mean by "budget", but here are a few options that all come in under $40 US.
The Anker Soundcore 1 sounds great for podcasts. Also handles phone calls well. Has 24 hour battery life, which in my experience is a conservative estimate if played at moderate volumes. It's not waterproof though. Very hard to beat at less than $30, especially if you're primarily listening to spoken content. I've owned this one for a few years.
Anker also makes a splash-proof (IPX5) proof version of that speaker with improved sound, the Soundcore 2. It's usually available in the $35-$40 price range, though you may get it for less on Prime Day or the occasional sale.
The Anker Soundcore Sport is another good choice. It's the most portable of the three, at 3.4" square and with a lanyard to hang it. IPX7 waterproof. Sound quality is somewhere in between the Anker Soundcore 1 and the Anker Soundcore 2. You can get this at Target for just under $30. (Usually around $40 on Amazon for some reason.) I use this mainly as a shower speaker and have been happy with it.
Yes. I have an Anker Soundcore and an Anker Soundcore Sport and they power off after 10 minutes with no sound being transmitted over BT.
The Soundcore can also be connected via aux jack and I'm not sure if it also powers off after a period of inactivity.
No, the code is for the full size, gen 1 soundcore.
Yes, the Dot is not very loud. I use these Bluetooth speakers on 2 of mine and it makes a huge difference.
I have two of these and love them
I only played with one in the store, but was able to get it to full volume and it didn't seem worth it. I bought a Bluetooth speaker instead for 35 since I can use it for anything, not just a moto z.
I have this Anker BT speaker and love it. Will probably connect it to my Dot tonight.

Thank you! I've considered Z120s as well as some other Logitech speakers, they do have good options. The problem is, I sometimes use my laptop away from my desk, like in my bed, that's when wirelessness comes in handy. Also, I might use it the my kitchen too from time to time. So, yes, I won't be using bluetooth features always but, in my case, it is a must.
And what do you think of Anker Soundcore or Cambridge Soundworks?
I bought an Anker SoundCore, and it's pretty good. I have no complaints.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016XTADG2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I have the Anker Soundcore, it's VERY good bang for the buck. I drive for a job and it's lasted a 20 hour week on a full charge.
Made me COL. (Chuckle out loud.)
I have an Anker Soundcore that I use in my kitchen and when I'm shaving/showering.
I have a Dot in the bathroom hanging from a wall mount and the other Dot is at my computer station just off the kitchen.
That one ties into my good old JVC stereo amplifier via a Bluetooth adapter and I can crank anything from the interwebs over my REALLY old, refurbished Infinity speaker set.
Now, on Saturday nights when the neighbors across the back fence are having their weekly outdoor party, blasting the music with lots of accordion and singing in another language, I can drown it out with Lynyrd Skynyrd, Styx, AC/DC, or whatever I like.
The one issue I hope Amazon will resolve soon is that I can't have the Soundcore connected to both dots, so I can't go from the back part of the house out to the kitchen and have the other Dot take over voice commands for that speaker. I have to disconnect from one, then connect to the other.
