Thanks! They were actually a gift from someone who was tired of watering my plants for me lol I don’t have the exact link, but I think these are similar. There’s lots of different types!
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0001IOZ98/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_BTPVM4EG7P7RXW8A7FTK
I’m not sure what they are called exactly. There’s many different types! If you just do a quick search for “plant watering system” you’ll find tons!
Here are the ones in the picture:
Blumat Classic Plant Watering Stakes | for Everyday Home or Vacation Use | Indoor or Outdoor Water Spikes for Plants | Automatic Drip Irrigation (3 Pack) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0001IOZ98/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_BTPVM4EG7P7RXW8A7FTK
Yea that looks like it needs some work to set it up but I booked marked them for reference thanks for that!
I've got these laying about
Blumat Classic Plant Watering Stakes | for Everyday Home or Vacation Use | Indoor or Outdoor Water Spikes for Plants | Automatic Drip Irrigation (3 Pack) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0001IOZ98/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_D7JBXNA79E5TGEFWRXEG
They're pretty handy tbh so might set it up again for starters
I’ve gotten good results with these Blumat cones for small plants. No timers or anything that can break since they work through capillary action. Blumat Classic Watering System
Woohoo! Congrats!!
FWIW, I use irrigation stakes now to help my plants stay watered when I'm depressed. They aren't.... happy by the time I get out of it, but they're usually alive and bounce back. Succulents would use far less water so maybe these could help them go further. I just use a big urn as the water reservoir.
Here's hoping you never need to rely on them again. :) Best of luck to you!
Hopefully that works
It’s a little stake you push into the soil. Plant sucks up water as needed. Basically a way to make any pot into a self watering pot!
I’ve had luck with these. But I suggest treat them out before you travel to make sure its all working. I found covering the bucket you draw water from prevents it from evaporating away. There are along spikes like this that you can just attach to bottles.

And they should be watering from below - filling the tray/saucer 1/2 - 2/3rds with water and letting the plant absorb.
Or just get some water stakes with wicks! https://www.amazon.com/Blumat-Classic-Automatic-Watering-Stakes/dp/B0001IOZ98/ref=mp_s_a_1_20
I got mine at Home Depot and it looked this way. It took a few weeks to recover from nursery shock. I live in zone 10A. Here’s what I did: 1) quarantined the FLF; 2) did a mixture of dish soap and water and lightly sprayed the soil and lightly the leaves; 3) light fertilizer mixed with my used coffee grounds and egg shells and added it to the soil. The spraying was done when I remembered but not too aggressively or often because I didn’t want to overwhelm the plant with unnecessary moisture. On occasion, I would do a vinegar+citronella spray but that wasn’t often because my lizard brain was worried about lowering the pH of the soil too much. I don’t water the plant anymore because I have it on a watering system and it is doing really well now (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0001IOZ98/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_api_fab_CV4BFb2MNV87Q)! In total, it took 5 months. This worked for me for my zone. I wish you the best of luck!
Edit: wording for clarity
Consider something like this:

Combined with monitoring water level of the reservoir. You can use multiple stakes for larger plants / pots.
Covers the accidental flood risk, and gives you more portability at the cost of having to fill reservoirs occasionally.
Well, I have friends and neighbors who offered for free (kids free...and I want to make clear, I love kids, but this is not parents with kids. This is grandparents with kids...sometimes grandparents can be a little more liberal in their dealings with kids). But it's too late now. They'd be super offended if my family friend didn't do it. They already know im crazy about my plants. So they'd assume I found someone I thought could do better, which would be true lol.
Also, in regards to your situation. I just bought these self watering stakes. The small ones only give like 2.5oz a day but they sell xL. Also, Amazon sells these stakes without the reservoir, and instead you use a wine bottle upside down. I can't say how well the first link works...haven't used it yet, but the 2nd link I listed uses about 1/4 of a wine bottle a day.
Also, I've read about taking a milkjug. Putting a hold in the bottom. Keep cap on milk jug. Add rocks to the bottom of jug if you're worried about wind. Then place the filled up milk jug directly on the soil. The theory is that the water will solely drip out of the milk jug.
Like I said, I can't vouch for how any of these work.
I have some of these blumats, but I am afraid of overwatering. https://www.amazon.com/Blumat-Classic-Automatic-Watering-Stakes/dp/B0001IOZ98/ref=sxts_sxwds-bia-wc-p13n1_0?cv_ct_cx=blumat&dchild=1&keywords=blumat&pd_rd_i=B0001IOZ98&pd_rd_r=1364b290-8fed-4caf-9b02-cb6ee54c8234&pd_rd_w=uhXDb&pd_rd_wg=dufYK&pf_rd_p=e7ea7987-56a0-4822-adda-f67db5e22b16&pf_rd_r=MQNZ4BY3CQK1BYMGKPTG&qid=1599158025&sr=1-1-791c2399-d602-4248-afbb-8a79de2d236f&th=1
I gave up and started using one of these. My fern is still on the small-medium side but it’s been doing really well ever since
You could go with something like this:
https://www.amazon.com/Blumat-Classic-Automatic-Watering-Stakes/dp/B0001IOZ98/
or use an automatic timer with a soaker hose if you have access to a spigot.
https://www.amazon.com/RAINPOINT-Sprinkler-Programmable-Waterproof-Irrigation/dp/B0917HZ6FN/
Would it be fine with this?, The plant only draws out water when it needs it would it work?
https://www.amazon.com/Blumat-Classic-Automatic-Watering-Stakes/dp/B0001IOZ98
alata is one of the most robust neps, that's part of why they're so widely sold :)
i'll reiterate most of what davy_jones_lover already said, but with some more specifics...
the more light the better, but don't leave the plant in direct sunlight
neps do not want to be in standing water, but want to stay moist. one thing i've found really useful for this is the auto-water things, such as https://www.amazon.com/Blumat-Classic-Automatic-Watering-Stakes/dp/B0001IOZ98/ you just keep the reservoir of the watering thing filled up once a week, and the plant will be 90% maintenance free for watering.
if you live anywhere warmer than 6a, you can basically leave the thing outside for all but the middle of winter https://planthardiness.ars.usda.gov/
if you live where you've got to bring the plant in, in the winter, it's probably worth getting a mister to help keep it moist. i mist mine a couple times a day because it's dry AF in my house (i live in the upper midwest and have forced air heating). i've been really liking this mister https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075VZ7RJM/ for 3 years now
Esh that’s a long time without water. I’d mix up a 5 gallon pale, a small aquarium air pump and get some blumat stakes and see if that would work for you.

Something like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0001IOZ98/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_NQA9FbMZSK495. For bigger pots I put two, the rest 1
my only suggestion is to make sure they're not water-logged. nepenthes like moist but well drained soil. i use the this self-waterer from bulmat and it works great for my nethpenthes :)

if you forget to water them like me, these little automatic watering systems are amazing. all you need is a big bottle of water and you put one end in the plant and one end in the water bottle. much easier to see a bottle and refill every few weeks versus remembering to water your plant. i have lots of these around my house.

Sorry about your leg homie, hope all is well. Good to know these are already widely accepted. What is the soaker drip hose? Are you talking about this: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0001IOZ98/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_RfJtFbCBTQH8Q ?
