After breaking a glass french press on a camping trip, I picked up this stainless steel french press. It makes a great pot of coffee, it is insulated to keep the coffee hot on cold mornings, and it's pretty much bombproof. The only small downside is that you can't see how much coffee is left, so it can be hard to share remaining coffee in the pot evenly with other people.
That is the one I want. According to a price extension, Brookstone is selling it for 34 dollars cheaper. I'm not familiar with that online retailer, are you? If it's a safe and good retailer, I may buy two simply because it would be better than getting it from Amazon price wise. I can gift the other one.
I've had a this Bodum for about 18 years, still going.
This 8 Cup Bodum Columbia is the Americas Test Kitchen pick.
I have the Bodum stainless press and it's freaking great. After shattering two glass presses within 6 months, I've had this one for almost 5 years.
First they came for the Percolators, and I did not speak out because I used a French Press.
Seriously though, get one of these. So awesome.
For me, the espro is not significantly better than the Columbia and more difficult and expensive to replace parts for. $80 is the MSRP, not really the price to pay.
