I’ve never done any refinishing, only complete builds but in “building from scratch” the only tools in that kit that would be useful are the sander and circular saw. No matter whether you’re refinishing or building you need a sander. Also a battery powered sander is a no-go for me. Nothing worse than having to stop working because your battery ran out. I’d recommend this sander and either a bunch of sand paper in different grits 80/120/180/220 or a shop vac and adapter to connect to the sander.
Not saying it’s the end all be all - but for the price it was definitely worth it in my opinion.
Hook it up to a small shop vac and it does a great job with dust extraction too.
I have one of these, which does what I want it to do. I don't really see the need for a much more expensive and involved system for sanding a flat board. If you're looking at sanding complex curves and such, it might be different, but I would also expect you to know what you need if you're sanding complex curves.
For the circ saw, buy a corded one for your first, especially instead of buying an “off brand” cordless one. The batteries for the “off brand” cordless could disappear in the future if the brand dies. A corded one will survive any brand issue and will have a lot more power. https://www.harborfreight.com/power-tools/power-saws/circular-saws/corded/12-amp-7-14-in-circular-saw-with-laser-guide-system-63290.html. Is a suggestion for low price. Cordless one require nonstandard blades and lack torque/power that makes them harder for new users.
Sander: buy a random orbital sander with variable speed, it will do every sanding job needed. https://www.harborfreight.com/28-amp-5-in-random-orbital-palm-sander-63999.html or Bosch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BD5G9VA The Bosch will last a lifetime and do everything. Buy nice or buy several.
Edited to add: For the angle grinder, be sure you need that tool. A Dremel might be more appropriate depending on what you want to do with it. A BOSCH 4-1/2 Inch Angle Grinder GWS8-45 would be my suggestion for an entry level one.

I'm tired of never having the right tool for the job. I plan to order a router and sander. I have no intended use for them at the moment but just want something versatile. My portable workbench also functions as a router table. I'm open to any brand, most of the tools listed just happen to be bosch.
Looking at this sander: Bosch ROS20VSC. Most I want to spend is $100~
Considering the Bosch 2167 Router combo kit with plunge base or the Triton. Most I want to spend total is $300~
I like the Triton because it also has a built in lift but apparently it's pretty heavy and not great for hand use so if I got it I'd likely pair it with this bosch palm router. Since I wouldn't need to buy a lift it would only be $50 more than the 2167 combo + lift.
I have this Bosch, and it does a fine job.
I bought this as one of my first purchases for serious woodworking. It's one of my favorite tools Bosch ROS20VSC Random Orbit Sander with Carrying Bag, 5-Inch, Blue https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BD5G9VA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_NVliAbDCQNV1Q
If you get this version of the ROS20VS it's a little cheaper. It's the same sander, comes with the same stuff, it's just a soft case instead of a hard case. This is a good starter set of quality sandpaper.
