These saved my head and ears and I love them.

I have these on my 2019 Artis 7 Wireless. I’m assuming the 7P is just a color change to match PlayStation aesthetics.
They don’t sound terrible at all and if you buy from Amazon you should be ok. One advice that makes a huge difference; use the bigger plastic ear tips. They improve the sound by providing a better/tight seal. You can’t go wrong with either one of them, I like them both only that one stays at home at all times and the other is with me to use on the go.
M40x’s stock ear pads leaves a lot to be desired in terms of comfort. You can replace them by getting Brainwavz velour pads
From what I'm reading, the AKG's could use a bit of a boost in the highs, so that might actually be a functional replacement in addition to comfort.
I love cloth/velour pads because after 30 minutes or so I start sweating with plastic/pleather, making things very uncomfortable and getting the headphones extremely dirty after a couple of weeks. So thanks again for this info as it's definitely something to consider.
Do you think these brainwavz would work on the Pioneers?
I'd personally still go with brainwavz hm5 at that price point. Idk any other model that'll still work if the hinge snaps in two (because it has Left-Right detachable cable that's usually not found on lower end models). Also as I said before, 3d printable replacement
pleather pads will disintegrate over time. I'd advise you to get a pair of velour pads like this one https://www.amazon.com/Brainwavz-Velor-Replacements-Ear-Pads/dp/B00MFDX4YO
My friend’s dog shredded my 598’s original pads, and I got these to replace. To get them on, I think I will have to use some sort of adhesive or Velcro because they don’t seem to just go on by themselves. I haven’t been able to find a video showing how to replace. They sound good. I’m able to put them on in between my head and the headband, and the pressure keeps them in place until I remove the headband

Another vote for the ATH M50x. I love using mine for practice. I put my amp in the closet and never use it for practice. It’s so much better using the headphones.
If you get them I would definitely recommend getting the velour memory foam pads. They are so nice.

Since they're for bed and you don't really need noise cancellation, or fidelity, and the most important thing is comfort. I'd recommend getting a mid-range bluetooth headphone, and then really comfortable pads for them. So for example, the Sennheiser HD 450BT always go on special and are relatively cheap. And then get these big comfy velour pads from Brainwavz and you're set in terms of comfort (yes they fit those headphones and are much bigger and more comfortable than the ones that come with it):
https://www.amazon.com/Brainwavz-Replacement-Memory-Earpads-Headphones/dp/B00MFDX4YO/
Get different ear cups. I got these and they sound much better now.
I originally got them because my ears touched the headset, and these are thicker than the provided ones. The audio improvement was a nice surprise.
You really can't go wrong with the MDR7506/MDR V6. They are fantastic. Very durable and comfortable. I would switch out the ear pads though with some velour ones like these. I have some Oppo PM-3 cans and I still use my Sonys quite regularly.
Ah that's funny, I also thought the M40x's lacked bass. With my Brainwavz on the M50x I get a wider Soundstage but a lot less bass, I have a +6db EQ from 28hz to 70hz using Equalizer APO, but I prefer the old pads by a lot!
Which Brainwavz do you have? I agree they are very comfortable, but I did not find the original pads uncomfortable either. This is of course very much personal preference.
I have these ones: https://www.amazon.nl/dp/B00MFDX4YO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fab_PU5GFbFDZCBQV
sennheiser doesn't seem to offer replacement pads for the 558 anymore and it seems impossible to tell if anyone else offering 'official' pads would actually be legit.
do you mean these for brainwavz earpads? they look substantially thicker than the ones i have now, so they'd have to be much, much softer.
honestly at this point i am definitely prioritizing comfort over sound quality. it doesn't matter how good my headphones sound if i can't stand wearing them.
Velour is a very soft fabric similar to velvet. They are more comfortable than earpads made with leather imo.
You can look at these valour ones on amazon: Brainwavz HM5 Velor Memory Foam Replacements Earpads for Over The Ear Headphones https://www.amazon.in/dp/B00MFDX4YO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_nFWZCbYANJ4JP
I replaced mine with these and it was a quick and easy fix. No more discomfort over extended periods of gaming/listening.
Hmm, well it depends on what type of pain you're talking about. If your outer ear hurts then new pads would probably help.
https://www.amazon.com/Brainwavz-Memory-Replacements-Earpads-Headphones/dp/B00MFDX4YO
These also come in pleather if you're not a fan of velour.
I also bought the brainwavz ear pads. I got the HM5 velour pads:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MFDX4YO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
They take a little bit of effort to get on, but its totally worth it in my opinion. They are mad comfortable.
I've asked this in the past, so perhaps I should have edited it instead of just pasting it. I actually put these Brainwavz HM5 Velor Memory Foam Earpads on them last night. They feel infinitely more comfortable. So much so that I am basically sickened that I didn't get aftermarket pads sooner.
That being said, I'm still ready to upgrade to some new cans that are higher quality.
Bought these a year ago and placed several pads on them. My favorite thus far is https://www.amazon.com/Brainwavz-Memory-Replacements-Earpads-Headphones/dp/B00MFDX4YO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1510876721&sr=8-1&keywords=brainwavz+m50x
Those pads promoted these cans from "next to the bed in case of midnight videos" to "office cans" and I prefer them to my hd598c's.
If you decide to go with them, check out the velour ear pads that are sold on amazon as well. Super comfy, but can get a little warm compared to the fake leather. earpads
Order the 1000x and its coming today. I think i should return it to be safe, but i will try it out.
Yes they are completely different. Im just saying the game one headband is wonderful and wondering if the 1000x had something similar along with depth/comfortable earcups.
Is it possible to swap the earcups of the 1000x with something like this?
Since you can’t buy Turtle Beach replacements, I decided to get these from Amazon. Very comfortable and not as hot as the TB ones. Not a cheap replacement, but cheaper than buying a new headset.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MFDX4YO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_Eu5Kzb55TKVJG
They have them here, they're just not as cheap. That's why I got the red ones for my 558s.
>Thoughts?
Not very precise but the soundstage.... it's huge!
Great sound for the price, though the default pads are very uncomfortable IMO.
I bought these and they're comfortable af.
You're definitely not making a mistake buying these, even if they are comparatively expensive to what you could get them for elsewhere (29€ in Germany).
I walked into a Target today and picked up a set of the Kraken 7.1 Chroma v1 for $40. They were on clearance. I took off the pads immediately as they were very uncomfortable. I test fitted several other pads I had laying around and found that I liked the Brainwavz HM5, and the pads off an old TB X12's. The brainwaves fit about 85-90% correctly, they wouldn't fall off by any means but are very comfy. The x12's fit at about 95%. I am currently running the x12 pads for now. Sound quality is decent, and the mic is very clear.
For me $40 wasn't bad for the v1 Kraken Chroma as I had other pads I could use. YMMV. I would recommend checking out you local Target to see if they have any deals before dropping full price on a comfort upgrade that doesn't address the fitment issues people with big ears have.
Cheers.
If curious, here is a link to the Brainwavz pads: https://www.amazon.com/Brainwavz-Memory-Replacements-Earpads-Headphones/dp/B00MFDX4YO
Great choice, I bought myself a set of these a few weeks ago and absolutely love them. I would highly recommend these replacement earpads. They're memory foam so are nice and soft and prevent the sweat buildup you get with the standard ones. They are also great if you wear glasses. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00MFDX4YO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Hey thanks a lot man. You know with the amount of money I might end up pouring into this I may as well have bought something a tier up like an HD600, but if a $40 set of pads can fix the driver issue I may just go for it.
These are the ones right? https://www.amazon.ca/Brainwavz-Velor-Memory-Replacements-Earpads/dp/B00MFDX4YO
Personally I don't think you should have to mod a $260 set of headphones to get the most out of them or to fix basic issues like lack of symmetry/drivers touching one ear or both, but I guess that's the reality of it in this case.
Some of these problems I am experiencing have made me consider returning them. But I just don't think it's worth the hassle, and besides, there are plenty of positives to be had as well.
You might wanna pick up some ear pads as the superlux earpads are pretty shitty.
Not only will the new pads be more comfortable, but they will make the overall sounds MUCH better. The pads i linked are quite fiddly to put on as they are for a different shape, but they DO fit, just keep trying :^)
(It should also be noted that the 668B's are quite treble heavy, if you really dont want to deal with it, maybe put (tissue?) or something in between the actual speaker and the pads, it helps cancel the treble just enough and helps the bass a fair amount, and don't we all love some bass :^)
Forced my 90mm from my old broken headsets on here. FEELS SO MUCH BETTER!!!
I might buy after market ones.
Budget <$30
I'm just looking for good pads to put on the Superlux HD668B headphones I just bought.
Someone recommended these https://www.amazon.com/Brainwavz-Memory-Replacements-Earpads-Headphones/dp/B00MFDX4YO, but in the questions people are saying they don't fit or ruin the sound or something. If anyone knows better please let me know.
Kick arse, sounds great.
Do you have a link to the ones you purchased? There seems to be quite a few alternatives, and I'm worried about getting something that is a floppy fit, etc.
I like the headphones, the pads I may change soon actually though. They attract/show dust and lint like crazy and at times I find them to be a little bit scratchy/itchy, but not that often. They have great reviews though so others seem to really like them.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MFDX4YO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
How did you install them? I have a pair of these pads on my ath-m50x but I'm having a hard time getting them installed without stretching the earpad. Any tips?
Edit: I decided to say fuck it and grabbed a credit card and used the card to stuff the rails and just yolo'd it. it may of stretched a little bit but no worries. I use this model: https://www.amazon.com/Brainwavz-Velor-Memory-Replacements-Earpads/dp/B00MFDX4YO/ref=pd_sim_23_3?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B00MFDX4YO&pd_rd_r=04Z0J5DRBSNZNKCJEAP1&pd_rd_w=QwFgy&pd_rd_wg=pLZ1S&psc=1&refRID=04Z0J5DRBSNZNKCJEAP1
I and many others swapped out the stock pads for Brainwavz velour ones, which gives the 'hawks a much more neutral signature. Audioquest says they'll be selling alternate pads shortly.
Are there no other velour earpad options?
Do you believe these would fit?
I really like the closed 598s but the earpads are a little annoying as i prefer velour pads.
What is the website used by ishca?
EDIT. I purchased the replacements linked and will provide an update once I receive them. I am not sure how to test the change in sound tho.
Questions regarding JVC HA-SZ2000s:
I consider myself a basshead and own a pair of ATH-M50x's and they're fantastic headphones, but really uncomfortable for me with glasses even with some 40mm angled pleather pads. I can't wear them for maybe more than 4 hours, and my job calls for it being a video producer. I want to try and avoid this issue with the SZ2000.
I was looking at the Brainwavz HM5 pads see here since I hear the stock pads are dreadful on the cans. Would it be better getting angled or flat pads? I'm hoping these "memory foam" ones are a lot better for comfort.
Secondly, I have a FiiO E10k strapped to my desk for my M50x's, with me being a basshead I want to maximise its efficiency (who doesn't?) so would I be OK with the E10k or do people recommend others? I'd like to listen to them on the go, at work and at home so a portable amp would be fantastic.
Thirdly, is there anything else I need or would that be it? Again, looking to really get the most out of this headset so any suggestions would be grand! Cheers gang.
If you're going to replace the pads, I'd recommend getting yourself a pair of the memory foam pads like these. They actually produce a bit better sound than the leather ones that the M-50s come with.
I got these as a gift and I love them. My boyfriend bought separate velvet covered memory foam pads for them, and they were like night and day difference comfort wise.
Thanks for that. I actually just realised it's possible to adjust the clamping force of these headphones by flexing the headband, so the standard earpads are not too bad now. I think I'm still going to buy some replacements though so my ears can fit entirely inside. Are these the HM5 pads you are using and did you get yours for roughly the same price?
do you know if those hm5 pads will fit the 558's? The memory foam on my k7xx's is so nice and I heard the hm5 pads might fit the hd558's
Well that is certainly not my experience. Perhaps your pads are a bit worn down and so are closer to the originals? I barely use my sets of pads and mostly bought them due to the hype they had.
The MDRV6 is cheaper, but out of stock on Amazon, and the 7506 is only about $10 more expensive, so I could spring for that. When you mention swapping the pads, are you talking about these as replacements? And how easy is it to swap pads in and out? Also, any idea on the comfort level (both of those pads and of the 7506)? They look like they'd be decently comfortable, and I know Sony's pretty good about that (I've tried out one of their MDRXB950BT's which were pretty comfortable).
That does! Thank you. I just tried out the 558s at my local best buy per suggestion and they fit perfectly. Would these HM5 ear pads be the best bets to achieve those same minimum dimensions on my MDR-7506s without screwing up the sound?
Wondering the same thing myself. Anyone know if these would work? http://www.amazon.com/Brainwavz-Velor-Memory-Replacements-Earpads/dp/B00MFDX4YO/ref=sr_1_1?s=audio-video-accessories&ie=UTF8&qid=1449287590&sr=1-1&refinements=p_n_feature_keywords_two_browse-bin%3A8067231011
I recently replaced the stock pads on my K553 with Brainwavz HM5 Velor -- I couldn't wear the stock pads for more than an hour without my ears starting to hurt. I still get a good seal (used in a cubical farm at work), but did not notice a change in fidelity with all of the background noise.
These are the ones that i bought. they also have pleather versions, and i think they have ones that are both pleather and velour. The earcups on the m50s and a lot of other headphones are not really attached, there's only an elastic band in the cup itself so they come right off. if you want to try new earcups just make sure they are the right size for your headphones. a quick google search should clear that up.
I'll look into those Gemini's. I'm assuming you're recommending these pads for the Gemini's? They look super soft and big, so I'm hoping they'll work out. I saw they also have pleather pads as well.
I just got the pleather versions of these for my HD485. Velour versions are available as well. I pretty sure they fit also. http://www.amazon.com/Brainwavz-Velor-Memory-Replacements-Earpads/dp/B00MFDX4YO/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1435850003&sr=1-2&keywords=hm5+pads
So I just got a pair of these in the mail, and after about an hour of use, and no discomfort at all, I'd say this was a very good purchase.
Thanks again!
One last question: what would be good pads to replace the stock ones? I've been reading reviews and the biggest complaint I've seen is about the pads and (partially as a result) the seal (especially when wearing glasses, as I do). As I've seen, just about everyone at least tries to replace the pads on their headphones with the HM5 replacements. I was thinking about giving the velour versions a shot. Is that pretty ill-advised?
Are there any replacement earpads that can fit to my Superlux HD688B's? I was thinking about these but I am not sure.
> refurbished deal
edit: ok I found it :)
> pleather hm5 replacement pads
What pads do they come with? Are these the hm5 http://www.amazon.com/Brainwavz-Velor-Memory-Replacements-Earpads/dp/B00MFDX4YO ?
Also, I saw this on amazon " If you do hear distortion, it's probably that your player can't dish up enough power, so try switching to a good amp". Is there a good sub $40 usd amp I could pair with it? I wouldn't mind spending a little more if it will improve them dramatically.
Thanks!
I got the Brainwavz pads for my girlfriend's pair and they're cool, but I got some HM5 velour pads for my V6s like the other poster. They don't fit as well at first, but holy damn... They're so comfy. Takes a day or two to get used to them with the fit but I can't ever go back. They're like memory foam pillows on your head.
Edit: These! I got the velour ones. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MFDX4YO/
Are these one good ? The M50X with the stock pads is crushing my head and I'm looking for a solution. Tried to stretch the headband but I'm worried about damaging it =/
I bought the Sennheiser HD598s and the HM5 pads based on a recommendation a while ago. How? How do you get them on there? They are completely different than the stock ones, and they just don't fit. I've been trying to get 'em on for hours. Is there a trick? Did I buy the wrong ones? Am I supposed to cut them? I have no idea.
I know it's not the typical comment for here, but I don't think it's deserving of a self post.
Before I complete the order, this is what you're talking about, yes? Just want to make sure they work with ATH-M50x.
Also, why velour? Don't they make you sweat more?

I found the order from 2016: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MFDX4YO/
These are very widely regarded:
I bought a few but settled on https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00MFDX4YO
Good earphones and aftermarket ear pads are key.
I have the Steelseries Arctis 7 with these ear pads. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00MFDX4YO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I wear these all day no issue, and I work from home.
Brainwavz velour are the closest match in terms of sound signature that I've found.
Dekoni makes replacement pads for the X2HR, available in either leather or suede. There's a product listing for them on Amazon in the U.S. but I don't see them listed on Amazon.ca yet.
Replacement pad options for the 9600 would be similar options to the 9500, such as the Brainwavz Oval. The thing to keep in mind there is that the stock pads are factory adhered to the mounting ring, so they have to be forcibly removed from the mounting ring. This destroys the stock pads in the process, so it's one of those things someone does when they know they will not be attempting to reuse the stock pads.
Modhouse makes adapter rings for the 9500 so that someone can keep the stock pads intact, but the mounting tabs are reversed in orientation on the 9600 so I'm not sure whether they'll also work with the 9600 or not.
Not at all ;)

They've gone up a couple of bucks since I bought them 3 years ago.
These BrainWavz ear pads are super comfortable, the memory foam ear pads work great.
I was going to buy another pair of ATH-M30X because the ear piece was falling apart with a bunch of black crap.
But then I realized you could just buy ear pieces (fancy ones that are 10x better than the originals after the originals wear out).
Highly recommend if you haven't already replaced your ear pieces https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MFDX4YO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Apparently I bought my headphones in 2012 and replaced the ear pieces in 2018... I guess the original ear pieces took like 6 years to start falling apart.
[Earpad Replacement] What are good velour earpad replacements for Audio Technica ATH-AD700X's in the ~$20-40 range that can be bought from Amazon?
Searching on here, most threads seem to be a few years old. Most people seem to recommend these Brainwavz HM5 Oval pads but they sound like a major pain to stretch to make fit. Would these Brainwavz ROUND Replacement be basically the same thing, but actually fit easily?

If you do buy them, i would HIGHLY recommend replacing the pads with these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MFDX4YO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
and the wire with this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00N0XP2ES/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
My m40x's broke (currently using SHP9500s, but would switch often) recently since I dropped them one too many times. Although, if they weren't busted right now, I would highly recommend them for gaming (i played tarkov with them, which is a game that requires good sound, and they sounded pretty damn good) and music. Idk about movies since I don't watch movies.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MFDX4YO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I bought these and like them. I have however switched to the HD6XX's and much prefer them over my M40x's fyi.
Budget - 2-400$ CAD, wiggle room of about 50$
Source - FiiO E10k
Requirements for Isolation - In terms of isolation, I'm not too fussed about it. These are for home use in front of my computer. Less isolation is even a little bit desirable because, while my house is usually quite quiet, my SO hates having to repeat herself when she calls me.
Will you be using these Headphones in Public? Nope
Preferred Type of Headphone - Over-ears, I have exceptionally large ears, I had to change the pads on my M40xs because they were a bit too small so I went with :
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00MFDX4YO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 These are the perfect sized pads though bigger is fine.
Preferred tonal balance - I listen to a ton of trance music when I raid so bass is very important but it needs to be balanced definitely. Guess the best way to answer this is : balanced but with an emphasis on not overly weak bass.
Past headphones - Audio-Technica M40xs, would like an upgrade after trying my friend's DT1990 Pros
Preferred Music - Trance, my go to to test headphones would be :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yo4pmauhugo
and
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVvJp3d8xGQ
and
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H36v9eSbF3o

Also, I listen to a ton of rap when I'm gaming :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLHqpjW3aDs
or
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4pTDlU3hrjM

What would you like to improve on from your set-up - I really like V-Shaped sound signatures with relatively deep bass and sub-bass. Honestly, something with a sound signature close enough to the DT-1990 Pros would be amazing, those are my gold standard.
I have some velour earpads that are great
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MFDX4YO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_2HwiSWJY8426m
Thanks for your suggestion, I'll think about it.
Also, is this the velour pads that you're referring to? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MFDX4YO
Yes, pair these awesome headphones with this adapter to be able to use the Brainwavz velour replacement earcups and they are perfect.
(I have large ears and these thicker ear pads keep my ears from touching the drivers. I recommend them to make the fit even more comfortable)
i bought a set and a velour memory foam pads to swap them out.

i've bought these before https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MFDX4YO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 for the m50x

they're super comfy for long hours.
I got these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MFDX4YO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and they definitely help the pain of my ears, I got these because they had faster shipping and a little cheaper price compared to the steelseries ones.
Afternoon everyone!
I'm sure this has been asked numerous times already, but I hope you don't mind answering it for one more person!
I'm looking at purchasing replacement earpads for my M50x. I had purchased a pair of velour earpads off Massdrop recently but cancelled because it wouldn't ship till May and I'd rather just buy off Amazon for about $10 less after considering shipping/duties/taxes.
I'm currently looking at this Brainwavz pair from Amazon and was wondering what the opinion is on readily available replacement earpads for ATH M50x in Canada.
Budget is (preferably under) $50 CAD.
I mainly use my headphones on my desk at home and work, rarely have them on in public.
Thanks for the help! Appreciate it!
These look good too, same material but thicker https://www.amazon.com/Brainwavz-Memory-Replacements-Earpads-Headphones/dp/B00MFDX4YO
Can I use these earpads with the Sennheiser HD448? They're a bit bigger than the stock ones. Does that matter?

If you're not in Canada, you'll have to look at your country's respective Amazon store, if applicable. You may also want to check eBay.
They look super comfy!!
Where could I find these replacement pads? Are these the ones?
Are they the velor pads here? https://www.amazon.com/Brainwavz-Memory-Replacements-Earpads-Headphones/dp/B00MFDX4YO
I've heard velor kills the bass
is this the one?
If you decide to get them, put on these ear pads: Amazon. The pads they come with are very uncomfortable.
I just received a pair of T50RP MK3s the other day and they are fantastic. Now I need help deciding what earpads to get for them since I wear glasses and they make my head hurt.
My current comfort reference is Sennheiser 558s. I'm torn between the velour pads, hybrids, and something more expensive like cowhide.
I would like them to be wearable for hours and not press my glasses into my skull (both in front and behind my ears)...while not being overly stuffy and sweaty. I hate fake leather with a passion, and I know PU/pleather will be sweaty and gross, like cheap office chairs. I don't care about sound leakage, which is why I have open and semi-open headphones, but I don't want the pad material to affect the sound too much.
Secondary to comfort, I want as much bass retained as possible. The MK3s are bone stock right now, I want to get them wearable before any other changes.
Thanks for any help.
Aere these the ones you're talking about?
Where could I find resources on changing Philips SHP9500 pads without ring adapters? I watched this guide on youtube and ended up ruining these pads by over stretching.
Do I just need to be more gentle? Or are there easier pads to do this with?
Probably go for these: http://www.gearbest.com/on-ear-over-ear-headphones/pp_279992.html
They're a bit uncomfortable as they come so people replace the pads with these: https://www.amazon.com/Brainwavz-Memory-Replacements-Earpads-Headphones/dp/B00MFDX4YO
Both come to just over $50. If you have a dead set hard limit of $50 maybe get the headphones and get the pads after you save a few extra bucks. But the upgrade in pads is definitely worth it. I have quite a few sets of headphones and this is the best I have for that price point.
Going up a little bit is the Philips SHP9500 at $70 which people rave about but I've never heard.
Hi, I did the foam mod on my Sennheiser HD 558's and I noticed there are these plastic inserts with cloth filters. Should I leave those out? Or are there reasons to leave them in?
Also, I need a cheap cable for them from Amazon (US) 2.5mm to 3.5mm with 3 poles/lines preferably with the 3.5mm being angled or L shaped but that part is not necessary. the original cable, 2.5mm to 6.3mm, the 6.3mm is way too big to be practical, on top of that you need a large adapter to convert the 6.3mm to 3.5mm, it's just massive I 've actually broke a laptop audio jack with it because it has so much leverage.
Last, are aftermarket pads compatible with the Sennheiser HD 558? i want to either the Brainwavz HM5 Velor Memory Foam or the Brainwavz Hybrid Memory Foam Earpad

I will put them over an orange or something, sorry to be demanding, but could you give me an idea of the difference between the ear cups? Looking at hm5, the Angled velour and the angled hybrids btw if you have paypal i'll happily send you $5 for all your help lol!

Are you talking about these?

They say "fits many oval cup designed headphones" so I wasn't sure if they would work on round cans.

I saw in the same boat as you my friend. here do this. 1. free and insta fix http://www.head-fi.org/t/493838/stretching-your-m50s-for-less-clamp-and-much-more-comfort

Love my M50x's! I highly recommend the Brainwavz HM5 velor ear pads, if you're in the market. The stock ear pads were a bit uncomfortable on my ears.
I'm not really in the market for new headphones at the moment. What I'd like to do instead is just spend some money to get the best sound out of my 558's. I primarily use my headphones for gaming (CS:GO/Overwatch), I'm not an audiophile by any stretch of the imagination.
For sound, I'm currently using the Asus Xonar DGX soundcard. This is a screenshot of the sound center: http://i.imgur.com/9P1lMqO.jpg Obviously there's not much to control. I got that sound card at the time I got the 558's because my onboard audio wasn't powering the 558's despite their low impedance. I'm considering replacing it if you guys think it would be a good idea. If so, I suppose I'd want a budget friendly DAC (under $200?) that will get me by for quite a while, if not indefinitely.
For comfort I'm thinking about just replacing the pads with these: https://www.amazon.com/Brainwavz-Velor-Memory-Replacements-Earpads/dp/B00MFDX4YO I already have an AntLion ModMic, so the microphone part is taken care of.
Let me know what you guys think. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!
I got these for my M50s and I also wear glasses. Haven't had any issues since.
So I have a potentially dumb question.
I have the Brainwavz HM5's and I love the sound. However, their gigantic pads, while very comfortable, get oppressively hot for my ears after awhile and hot and sweaty ears aren't very nice at all, to say the least. I find myself having to take breaks after every three songs or so.
Would buying these replacement velour pads for the HM5 help any?
You can replace with brainwavz pleather or velour. The velour would be better if you think pleather is too hot. https://www.amazon.com/Brainwavz-Velor-Memory-Replacements-Earpads/dp/B00MFDX4YO
The eadiest solution is to buy new pads.
I'm not too sure if they'll fit, but the HM5 pads are very good. They have pleather, velour and hybrid variants (normal and angled).
For the headrest, get a leather Beyerdynamic cushion.

He was probably talking about these: http://www.amazon.com/Brainwavz-Velor-Memory-Replacements-Earpads/dp/B00MFDX4YO
also if you want more booming base you might like the Fidelio X2s
I was searching that subreddit for information on new pads, and the consensus seems to be that (1) they're MUCH more comfortable, though (2) they may change up your audio profile by effectively de-emphasizing bass. I'll probably get a set of the Brainwavz HM5 pads regardless of any bass issues, since I spend enough time wearing my headphones each day that comfort may outweigh any changes in the profile.
Thanks for the suggestion!
Try the Brainwavz HM5. Little pricy though @ $22.50.
thanks.
edit: wait the ones i just ordered don't look angled https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MFDX4YO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Get Him a pair of HM5 Velor pads
http://www.amazon.com/Brainwavz-Velor-Memory-Replacements-Earpads/dp/B00MFDX4YO
yes, get the brainwavz replacement pads and they should fit just fine. As I mentioned, they are a little tight but they fit just fine. I and many others have used them in the Steelseries H Wireless.
To clarify the different versions you could get for this brand:
velor: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MFDX4YO
pleather: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MFDT894
Pick one and either should fit fine. If you really don't believe me, here's a review someone did on the velor version with pics of it on the H Wireless:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/review/R332AUET8BCO2I
As for differences between velor and pleather. Pleather may get warm around your ears although it's not a big deal. It seals noise better and is basically maintenance free. The velor version is a lot cooler (temperature wise) around your ears due to the material and feels way more comfortable overall but doesn't seal noise as well and attracts lint/dust, etc so may require washing or using a lint roller once in a while. Maintenance isn't hard, but it is there.
Any specific, affordable suggestions apart from velour then? Zeos suggested the $10 HiFi velours in his review, and others suggested the $22 Brainwavz HM5.
A set of Brainwavz velour pads made a night-and-day difference on my Nighthawks by removing the congestion present with the leather ones.
I'm not quite sure. Comparing the size from yarosalvm's thread and a picture from amazon they might. Would you say those are better?
Looking to change the stock pads on my ath-m50. Was looking to get more comfortable pads. Do either of these change the sound for the worse?

I have the same problem, I heard hm5 pads might fits? http://www.amazon.com/Brainwavz-Velor-Memory-Replacements-Earpads/dp/B00MFDX4YO
Wait, these are the ones we're talking about right?http://www.amazon.com/Brainwavz-Velor-Memory-Replacements-Earpads/dp/B00MFDX4YO/ref=pd_sim_75_5?ie=UTF8&refRID=10MYP9PVBKWZN53PDQP9
I bought these last year and they fit my V6's perfectly. Super comfy.

Not sure if you're talking about the pads or not but
I have the pleather because I didn't want sound leakage/lose isolation. If you're asking me to compare the superlux headphone to m50 you're out of luck because I haven't heard them :/ but I wouldn't bother at looking to get those if I had the M50 anyway.
Is it possible to get that shape to fit onto the K550's?
Use HM5 pads. I used the spare set that came with my HM5s.
Or you can go velour: http://www.amazon.com/Brainwavz-Velor-Memory-Replacements-Earpads/dp/B00MFDX4YO
Many like to replace them with these, which are much softer.
Hi guys, I'm quite new to the audio scene (as in not even in the scene). I just got gifted a pair of AudioTechnica ATH-M30X. They are comfortable, but after a few hours of use, they will start to get stuffy and kinda tight over my ears. After researching a bit, I think a pair of velour pads will solve my problems. So far, I have Brainwavz HM5 Velor Memory Foam Replacements Earpads or Shure HPAEC940 Replacement Velour Ear Pads. Can anyone tell me if either one of those will fit on the M30X? Also, any other recommendations will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance, *Sorry if my English is bad, not really my mother tongue :)
I liked using these brainwavz velour pads for my m40x's. I like velour since It's soft and breathable. Personally, I just don't like leather/pleather pads. Everyone has different tastes, though.

So they actually came in today. I'm not really an audiophile, so I'm not going to comment on high and mids or treble what not but i will say that they do sound more open. I also just got my m50x about a week ago so I'm still playing with them. I guess the sound stage is much bigger. I have no idea how to check for sound leak so cant help you there.
But the biggest change for sure is that they are much much more comfortable. I got the velor pads and they are like pillows for you ears. The clamping is still a bit tight but it less noticeable and I hope that the arms loosen up a bit over time. These brainwave earpads are also huge. stockvs.brainwave
i got these ones btw amazon
