Rob Meyerson recently released a book called brand naming and also a domestika course around it. Honestly both are a great read & watch if you want to invest in them but I'm going to give you a quick abridge version.
A good name needs to highlight three key areas: Strategic, Creative, & Technical
Figure out first and fore most what you would like to communicate with your brand name. What are you about? What does art mean to you? What does your art mean to you? What would you like people to get out of the name/your art?
Come up with as many ideas as possible, then try to find fun ways to put it together/shorten/say it in a different language/create something new/etc...
Then you're going to weigh them on those 3 areas to figure out the best name for you.
Strategic - The name chosen evokes a certain idea/emotion. It should be:
Creative - its has your own take on it. It should be:
Technical Qualities - the legal hoops
Not gonna get any easier finding a good name but hopefully these are some useful metrics to keep track of some of the key areas you should think about. Check out the book or course if you wanted to dive deeper :). The Course is on a discount now too!
