Dr. John Hagan had it right, and his pilot study was almost six years ago. Don't expect this study to launch a revolution. Big business is totally against the concept of not eating and getting people down to a normal weight. Dr. Hagan deserves a shout-out. His book came out nine years ago and is still spot-on, as far as I can see.

The approach is not a calorie thing- it is a mental rewiring and GI tract normalizing thing and weight loss follows.

This is misleading. Maximum lifespan is not extended. The AVERAGE lifespan is extended because of a less-toxic diet.
In humans, it is well-documented in ancient history that people who fasted and practiced temperance could live well beyond 100, a fact which is unchanged today. But people die earlier usually due to the accumulation of damage and toxicities associated with a poor diet. I suggest reading Dr. Hagan.
