Breaking Gravity is a thrilling nonstop ride from cover-to-cover that has earned 100+ 5 Star reviews from Amazon and GoodReads. "A hugely entertaining book!" (Amazon Review). Dale Adams is about to change the world forever, but first he'll have to survive the next three days.
"...grabs you by the throat early on and doesn't let go!" - Al Letson, Host of Reveal on NPR
.
IT WAS JUST A HOVERBOARD. NOBODY WAS SUPPOSED TO DIE
Dale Adams has worked hard to leave his troubled past behind for a brighter future at Emory University. But when he makes a discovery that will change humanity forever, avoiding the spotlight becomes the least of his concerns.
Small experiments have attracted big attention. And not all who notice want Dale to be successful. Or even alive.
As Dale's world collapses around him, his fate intertwines with that of a girl he hardly knows. Their only hope for survival is to disappear into Atlanta's seedy underbelly, the very place Dale has tried so hard to leave behind. Time is running out, but if they can survive long enough science will be rewritten by the most unlikely of authors.

Dale Adams has worked hard to leave his troubled past behind for a brighter future at Emory University. But when a freak accident leads to a discovery that will change humanity forever, avoiding the spotlight becomes the least of Dale's concerns. His revolutionary technology might just get him killed.
The business student has just unlocked the secret to controlling gravity, and now every science book on the planet will be rewritten by the most unlikely of authors. But Dale's early experiments have attracted high-level attention, even before he's had the chance to share them.
Oblivious to the mounting interest, Dale uses his ground-breaking innovation to create...well, a toy: The world's first real hoverboard. Within days of presenting the product to his class, Emory University is beset by a rash of misfortune and tragedy.
As the world begins to collapse around him, Dale's fate intertwines with that of a girl he barely knows. Time is running out, and it quickly becomes clear their only hope for survival is to disappear into Atlanta's seedy underbelly; the very place he's tried so hard to leave behind.

SYNOPSIS:
Breaking Gravity follows the story Dale Adams, a student at Emory University in Atlanta who has the misfortune of unlocking gravity.
At first blush, discovering a way to completely control gravity––to reduce it or amplify it; even reverse it––sounds like a good thing doesn't it?
But one of Dale's earliest experiments with the discovery leads to his launching half-empty paint cans into oblivion. Unbeknownst to Dale, the BOOM he hears when the cans leave the workbench are caused by the cans instantaneously breaking the sound barrier.
The cans are traveling so fast, in fact, that they actually burn up while leaving the atmosphere.
This flags the attention of NASA, who at first don't believe the data. Outside of magnetic rail guns in a laboratory or ballistics requiring cutting-edge chemical propulsion under very controlled circumstances, there simply is no practical way to achieve the kind of velocities necessary to create enough friction to burn objects up while leaving the atmosphere!
Yet NASA recorded six such events in the space of five minutes.
And the data is clear, the recorded events are real. Fearing the data may be evidence of some sort of new weapon, the matter gets turned over to the Department of Homeland Security and then to the NSA.
Oblivious to the gathering storm clouds, Dale creates a hoverboard and then submits it as part of a class project. The class is being taught by a world renowned business celebrity and the project is testament to the epic magnitude of getting into the class: Dale would present his business idea to a panel of real Venture Capitalists and Angel Investors.
Toward the end of his presentation, Dale admits that he was originally going to pitch a different product the group: a battery that would last forever.
The battery was based on the principals of a shake-light. You know, the kind you shake a couple times to power it for a few minutes? When you shake one of those devices, a magnet travels up and down a copper coil creating little pulses of electricity which is sent to mini-capacitor for temporary storage.
Dale had pulled apart a shake light and then hacked it back together with some special sauce. He was able to create a shake-light that would shake itself forever. Unfortunately, Dale couldn't turn his prototype off and it quickly generated enough energy to overwhelm the capacitor, causing the whole thing to melt down. But all the device would need is an inexpensive censor that would switch power generation on and off automatically as needed.
Imagine that? A battery that would generate it's own power. What if they could be used to power an entire household, forever? Or, better yet, miniaturized to run individual appliances?
Within a few days of Dale's presentation, Emory University is beset by a rash of misfortune and tragedy. Even Dale is touched, barely escaping death in a violent car accident.
Just before the ice breaks for Dale, he accepts a ride from a classmate he barely knows. Jessica Osgood is very uptight and bookish, but otherwise typical of Emory student. As one of the most elite private colleges in the county, Emory University attracts students from families of wealth and power.
That's Jessica's background, one she believes she shares with Dale.
On the run, Dale's carefully groomed Emory persona is on a crash course with who he really is. And Jessica is about to find out how the other half lives.

SYNOPSIS:
At first blush, discovering a way to completely control gravity sounds like a good thing. That’s what Dale Adams thought, anyway.
But one of Dale's earliest experiments with the discovery leads to his launching half-empty paint cans into oblivion. Of course he had no way of knowing that the BOOM he heard when the cans left the workbench was caused instantaneously breaking the sound barrier.
Those cans were traveling so fast, in fact, that they actually burned up while leaving the atmosphere.
This flags the attention of NASA, who at first don't believe the data. NASA regularly protects space shuttles against heat generated during re-entry. But outside of magnetic rail guns in a laboratory or ballistics requiring cutting-edge chemical propulsion under very controlled circumstances, there simply is no practical way to achieve the kind of velocities necessary to create enough friction to burn objects up while leaving the atmosphere.
Yet NASA recorded six such events in the space of five minutes.

Just before the ice breaks for Dale, he accepts a ride from a classmate he barely knows. Jessica Osgood is very uptight and bookish, but otherwise typical of Emory students. She spends winter breaks in the Caribbean, summers in the Hamptons.
That's Jessica's background, one she believes she shares with Dale.
On the run, Dale's carefully groomed Emory persona is on a crash course with who he really is. And Jessica is about to find out how the other half lives.
