I juice celery. Usually whole bunches, but scraps work, too. Throw whatever random fruits / vegetables you have in a batch. It's always interesting, different, and healthy. Also, you can make vegetable broth if you don't want to drink it.

I just got this one for $100 which is something quid.
I was worries about noise too, but it's no louder then my food processor, and much quieter then my blender.
I have this one and I love it: Breville BJE200XL Compact Juice Fountain 700-Watt Juice Extractor. I chose it because at the time it had the most reviews on Amazon.
OMG, guys... I just finished making this in my new Breville Juicer and it was amaaaaazing! I only used 3 strawberries and added about a half cup water. The boyfriend and I drank it down. It was very refreshing and tasted SO much better than making it in my poor (now broken) blender. I did need to put a towel under the juice catcher so it didn't spill out (the motor is so freaking powerful on this sucker).
The only thing I might consider adding at this point would be a little non-flavored Benefiber powder just to add back what you lose by not having the pulp. I really do think I could do a green juice & a Slim Fast for breakfast b/c just after that drink I feel stuffed!
I got this juicer for under a hundred dollars and it still is. I haven't done a fast but I do drink one big veg juice a day.
Agreed, you can buy something like this off twitch ;) http://www.amazon.com/Breville-BJE200XL-Fountain-700-Watt-Extractor/dp/B000MDHH06/ref=sr_1_1?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1409004633&sr=1-1&keywords=juicer
