I dig that above cabinet lighting. Now I have another project lol. I saw some battery LED's on Amazon that look pretty good and control via a remote but I was thinking I'd like to be able to automate them.
Here's what I'm leaning towards just because it looks so easy:
Under cabinet lighting will make the counters pop (inexpensive remote one on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Brilliant-Evolution-BRRC135-Remote-Night/dp/B01JTA4QXI/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1547238584&sr=8-3&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=under+cabinet+lighting&dpPl=1&dpID=41YdmWYpKfL&ref=plSrch)
You can also add some white marble cutting boards or trays to the counter and declutter/consolidate Kitchen aid in the fat left corner caddy corner, it matches the cabinets and will fill that space and make kt visually cohesive
I would leave the trim on the doors (they're all one unit) but paint out the trim on the floor. Also remove the picture above the closet/dining room.
On the wall opposite the sliding I would put a giant art that ties in the colors of the cabinets and counters (charcoal, tan and white) try to find something scenic that gives you a 'view'
Also replace the curtains with clean white to complement the chairs.
I would paint the cieling in the hall the same colors as the walls but the walls don't really need to be repainted
I posted asking about these a week ago or so and got bad reviews back. I’ve had these in my cart on Amazon for a while and they get pretty good reviews for battery life (as long as you use good batteries) so you might try them, even though they’re twice as much. We just installed an ikea kitchen and found their under-cabinet lighting options to be surprisingly pricey. My husband found these on amazon.
The price is right, the reviews are good. Haven’t put them in yet yet but plan to in the coming weeks...
They are battery powered led lighting pucks I bought off amazon.

These aren't the exact same ones, mine are rgb and these are solid white, but they are the same brand I believe.
Seeing that these are just standard AAA's couldn't you just use rechargeable batteries? That doesn't change the battery life but eliminates the waste. I was planning on getting these ones. Even after seeing your deal I'd probably still get these as I like warm white and don't need the colors. Also since yours are from Aldi you can always return them if you're not impressed.
You can also get something like these battery op puck lights for about $30 and it’s a pack of 6 on Amazon. Not as fancy but still does the job for a temporary home worker.
We never bought black out curtains, so with the late sunset now her room is bright enough for her to see clearly (she goes to bed at 7:30pm). Sometimes during the day she asks for a tent to read in, and I’ll construct a dark blanket fort. When we do that, I give her a little tap light I got from Amazon to use. She calls it her campfire.

I bought them for a project I was doing, but I only needed four. The other two float around and are shockingly useful. Maybe something like this could work for you too.
I use these in my detlof cases and really like them. They're wireless and have a remote control with dim and timer settings!

For more expensive ones that need to be hard-wired, IKEA's Norfly (not sure on spelling) are great.

These are the lights, they are just battery powered but I like them because they come with a remote, and you can set them to be on timers.

Disassembled and Spray Pained Black
I’m think somebody recommended these puck lights to me before on Amazon
I bought one of these to start mine off a week and half ago. I bought a 3’er. Having cords is no problem for me, and size was no issue. Cool thing about these is if you want to add alight you can chain them together with the outlet they have on the opposite end. I paid less in the store than this online Home Depot page shows for one half the size. Not sure why it’s so expensive today.
I saw someone mention you might need a cordless version. There are 100 versions of this same thing on Amazon that are wireless and work many different ways. You’d just have to search for one with a timer, or a hub that can be wall plugged through a timer, so you don’t have to use the remote manually twice a day. Sorry, man. I’d be happy to keep searching to find one with a. Timer for you, but I got a big day tomorrow.
If you're looking for good puck lights these are the best I've found: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01JTA4QXI/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A11OWZFCGTC6EW&psc=1
