You don't have to sell now. Set up a management team, so you are not needed in the day to day. And then go out and shop your company around.
Built to sell can be a good read for you: https://www.amazon.com/Built-Sell-Creating-Business-Without/dp/1591845823
I was recently talking with various potential buyers for my blog. This is what I learned:
This book does a wonderful job at covering it even though it’s not specifically talking about blogs https://www.amazon.com/Built-Sell-Creating-Business-Without/dp/1591845823
Apologies for the late response. It's been a crazy day.
My main reason for picking React and Postgress over bootstrap and SQLite was that I just felt more comfortable with the formers. There are many different stacks you can use to implement something similar to this project. I think it's important to pick whichever you are most comfortable with.
But at the same time, I like to make every decision with scalability in mind and thinking like I'm building to sell. And if I was a buyer I would rather invest in the future (React) versus present(Bootstrap). But that is just my personal opinion.
As far as the cost, you are right, I could definitely do this with less than $50 a month (which I've been paying from my AWS credit BTW). I think keeping your cost low as much as possible is also a big factor in the survival of your startup in the early days. So if you can keep your costs low while keeping scalability in mind, you should absolutely do it.
As far as the business side, I have to say money is the only thing I have not yet made from this project. But I also have to say, I don’t think I could gain such a great experience and learning this project provided me in such a short time by spending any amount of money anywhere else.
Also, keep in mind, it has only been 100 days of part-time work. From the beginning, I tried to keep my expectations very low as far as the money since that could easily make me quit this project like many other projects in the past.
With that being said I will try my best to get to a positive revenue as soon as I can, while I continue to provide useful features for my users.
Nevertheless, I appreciate you taking the time to read the story and leaving feedback for me here ♂️
I hope my answer doesn’t disappoint you in any way
Best of luck! ✌
I would highly recommend the book Built To Sell: Creating a Business that can thrive without you, which is literally the story of a man who owns a design agency and is trying to figure out how to take himself out of the picture. In the book he's trying to sell rather than switch to a more passive model, but the lesson (which is - stop being a generalist, start niching down to your core competency and eschew all else) is exactly what you're looking for regardless.
Sounds like he read Built to Sell
The big question for me is why should I buy it. It is a solo project. Yes there is a product but only 1 dev. If you leave i need a small team to learn the code to make any changes. The same can be said for the sales, marketing, product,...
First i would build it in a scalable business, next comes the valuation.

Thanks!
TropicalMBA podcast was super helpful. The book Built To Sell was influential on our thinking.
I'm a fan of Derek Sivers and gobble up quite a bit of his content.
