I have the 560s with a cable boom microphone and it's perfect. Although I don't think the BTR5 can support a mic input so maybe just power the headphone with the mic through a headphone splitter to the PC, unless you have a standalone mic that you use. I use the setup to play Apex and COD so it's great at imaging.
Here's the mic in case you're interested: Cable Boom Microphone - Volume Control for Playstation PS4 or Xbox One Controller, PC - Boompro Gaming Mic Compatible with Bose QC25, QC35 II, QC35, QuietComfort 25/35 Headphones(150CM) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07W3W9LHV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_V6KQVP4M4FP9KSM7MTV8?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

One that came with my "boom mic adapter", doubt splitter matters though.

These because they fit the 2.5 mm
Bought these refurbed from Bose last year. Daily driving them on the train, at my desk, and on my couch w/ bluetooth+nVidia Shield and w/ this boom mic on my ps4. No regrets.
Yeah. Buy this boom mic wired or similar wired boom mic cable compatible with bose qc 35, then attach to your bose qc 35 and your xbox controller.

This is what I use, the foam at the tip always falls off so I just keep it off but it works fine. Everyone said they can hear me clearly

No mods to it, it plugs in just like the cable provided in the 560s box
I got this one, but there's probably plenty of options out there. You need 2.5mm on the end for the headphones and 3.5mm on the other end for the controller
The open back design of the Sennheisers is decently important if you want to use it as a gaming headset, especially now that there are great microphone attachments available. That mic will most likely be better than the mic on the Pulse headset, which is okay at best, which also means that the mic monitoring won't be that great too.
You'll need to get a cord with a boom mic from a 3rd party brand.
I got this one for my ps4 connectivity. Not fun but had to do it, .

Would you recommend purchasing this as well?

It seems many who tend to use the microphone for calls/gaming have to purchase this addition? Thanks again for your reply
I bought this, it works well

Christ, everyone is an elitist about headphones, don't listen to them. If you want Bluetooth you're shit out of luck really, as there's no viable option right now. If you have a 3.5mm jack, it's a little pricey but worth it, get the v moda boompro mic. Should be around 30 bucks. If you have a 2.5mm jack this will suffice https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07W3W9LHV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_4ZtrFbAQ4EK9Q
Never did. My need was to be able to use my Bose headphones which inconveniently work as a headset with a mic if you use Bluetooth. But when wired they there’s no mic.
So you might ask why not just use Bluetooth on the headphones? Well they sound is horrible. There seems to be some incompatibility on my Mac that adds clicks and pops.
So while wireless would have been nice, I got one of these https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07W3W9LHV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Ba0nFbQQQG8K1 which adds a mic to the audio cable and works pretty well.
I’d still like to solve the original problem with the AirPods as there are several other places it would be nice. But no luck yet.
Maybe something like this?
Cable Boom Microphone - Volume Control for Playstation PS4 or Xbox One Controller, PC - Boompro Gaming Mic Compatible with Bose QC25, QC35 II, QC35, QuietComfort 25/35 Headphones(150CM) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07W3W9LHV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_DamiFbEY52SQV
No. not worth it!
Get the Bose QC 35 II then this cable boom mic @ $28 on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Boom-Microphone-Playstation-QuietComfort/dp/B07W3W9LHV/ref=sr_1_3?crid=1SSLTPGHLG3KY&keywords=bose%2Bqc35%2Bboom%2Bmic&sprefix=bose%2Bqc%2B35%2Bboom%2Caps%2C186&sr=8-3&th=1
You save yourself $80. yall welcome.
I have used the one that comes with the headset before and it works, but I normally use a different cord that has a mic attached to it, like this
Perhaps this one (I have not tried it myself though) https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Boom-Microphone-Playstation-QuietComfort/dp/B07W3W9LHV/
I just grabbed this cord and they seem to be working fine. I love the headphones
I would buy a nice pair of standard headphones then attach a mic like this
shp9500+v moda boom pro or other inline mic like this
Here is the link to the boom mic I purchased for my QC 35's:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07W3W9LHV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_RrcaGb23YCY7K?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Bose doesn't sell the microphone separate so you would have to find a different mic. Headset buddy might be a decent option or Antlion modmic if you want a wireless boom mic
You'll need something like this... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07W3W9LHV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fab_xNDHFbZCHMWAS
You should just buy the regular headphones for $199 on Amazon with one of these instead. Paying an extra $100 for their crappy mic isn't worth it.
