I imagine Oculus will have recommendations on cables, they might even include longer cables with the standalone camera. A 10ft extension combined with the cameras cable should be way more than you need and that's only $6.50 on Amazon. A 2 pack of 6' cables (should be enough for most) is $10.
Some on-board ports dont push out enough power. If the powered cables don't work, I suggest you try an ad-on card with a molex connector. I used an amazon basics 10 ft hdmi extension and this usb cable : https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00C7SA21U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_1_ugkoCbSFC7DQ4.
10foot USB extension is $8 on amazon. It changes your life
I’m not sure you want that one even if it is active (I’m guessing it is b/c of the bulky connector but I can’t really tell for sure) you should be paying closer to $20-30 for sth like this. I use this one https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-Extension-Black-Feet/dp/B00C7SA21U/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1545613356&sr=8-4&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=cable+matters+active+usb+3.0+extension+cable&dpPl=1&dpID=41hjFzug68L&r...
I've successfully used these for extending the sensor cables
https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-SuperSpeed-Female-Extension/dp/B00C7SA21U
While they are USB 3.0 cables if you use them with the supplied USB 2.0 cable that comes with the additional sensor they will work perfectly. Just get the total length you need as the longer you try to make the run the more chance you can run into issues without getting active cables.
Also try to use the supplied cable that comes with the sensor as it will force the whole connection to USB 2.0 which uses less bandwidth.
I just bought these ones from Amazon: Cable Matters SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Type A Male to Female Extension Cable in Black 10 Feet https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00C7SA21U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_VfiuAbT8YG60H
I don't know much about active/non active extensions, but these work perfect for me and they are pretty cheap
All I have plugged in are my mouse, keyboard, webcam. I guess I could just disconnect the webcam till I need it. I downloaded the drivers from Inatecks website so I think thats good to go. I am using extension cables. 3.0 USB extensions I got from Amazon.
I got 2 of these last week and I use one on a sensor and the other for headset extension and haven't noticed any problems and they gave good connection on the first plug in.
Depending upon your computer placement you may not need any.
The 2 front sensors that I have plugged into USB3.0 only need to be 6 to 8 feet apart, slightly more if you want to push the limits. If you need an extension for one of them you should use a 3.0. My computer is off to the side so I used a 10 foot extender by Cable Matters for the far front sensor.
I have seen people mention they used all 2.0 with good results though. Since you ordered 2.0 already you might as well give them a try.
The rear corner sensor has a USB 2.0 /16 feet extension cable included so it was able to be routed outside the perimeter my play space to where I needed it.
So wait, did you pick up a USB 2.0 one? Or 3.0? Link me? Don't see any Amazon Basic 3.0 extensions!
There is this one. Also need a few longer DVI cables, this might be the time to spend a little cash and just get everything I need in a $20 swoop :/
Took a bit of trial and error, but it works perfect now. Back sensors are connected with monoprice 16 foot USB extensions and these 10 ft USB extensions. I used this HDMI extension and those same 10 ft USB extensions for the headset. I chose the Startech USB 3.0 adapter and have the headset and 2 sensors plugged in to that card. The third sensor is plugged in to the top USB and the 4th is plugged in to the back. I put the sensors on these stands to mount the sensors. I took a while to figure out what combination of ports worked but in the end the results are awesome. Gorn, in particular, is fun to be able to run around in an area this big.
No idea about Amazon.
You may need some USB extensions, depending on how you plan to run stuff, these are known to work:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C7SA21U
https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-SuperSpeed-Female-Extension/dp/B00DMFFL2W?th=1
A few other things:
As others have mentioned, the Odyssey's tracking relies on the room having enough light for the cameras to see.
While the Vive works great in total darkness, you have to remember to turn on the lights at night to make the Odyssey work.
And one other thing I should mention is that the cable is a bit short on the Odyssey, I had to buy some extension cables from Amazon to be comfortable I wouldn't accidentally yank out or break the connectors.
I went with these:

You might need a USB extension cable or 2, but measure your room before getting some, the extra sensor comes with an extension cable, so you might only need one for one of the sensors that come with the rift, measure the room and if you need one, I use this one from cable matters
I I have been using this usb extension, this hmdi extension, and this hdmi repeater since 2018 without issue.
If your rig is close enough to your PC, you could use extensions for a couple of the devices, but try to stay under 10' for the extension, and make sure you get a good extension cable.
Here's my setup:
I run my simucube 2 pro (wireless wheels) and heusinkveld ultimates to their own dedicated USB ports with 2 of these extension cables:
Then I have my SRS wind kid/Apex P1X sim dash/Prosim H pattern shifter/Heusinkveld handbrake/wireless keyboard/wireless mouse plugged into this:
All manuals usually say plug directly into USB port on your computer. Some get away with using a USB hub with everything plugged into it, and others have issues. Keep in mind that USB extensions get wonky over 10'. USB hubs get wonky too. You want to make sure you're spreading the connections out across all of the USB ports available. A USB hub with 10 ports can't increase the capacity of the single USB port on your PC.
the clean 30' run would be tough, but you should be fine for the 15' run with this cable:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C7SA21U/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I run my simucube 2 pro and heusinkveld ultimates through the 10' extension directly to the computer. Then I have my shifter, handbrake, dash buttons, wind kit, and wireless keyboard plugged into the usb hub below. Then another 10' extension from the USB hub to the PC. Haven't had any issues.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0797NWDCB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1
Running 10' extensions to a usb hub, and then another 10' extension from hub to PC would buy you some more reach, but you could run into issues with all of that, and it still might not even get you the 30' that you're looking for.
I use this cable to add 6' for my DD1 without issue
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00C7SA21U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_1uUTFbMQPQSGF
Nice. I originally ordered this but, somehow, the package was damaged in shipping and and sent back to Amazon. So, instead, I used this..
CHOETECH 3 Pack 1m/3.3ft USB Type C Cable Nylon Braided USB 3.0 A to USB C Cabl $11 right now
Along with this passive USB extender: Cable Matters USB to USB Extension Cable (USB 3.0 Extension Cable) in Black 10 Feet - $7.99 right now
This combo works great for me and I haven't noticed any major issues besides the Oculus Link Beta software not always seeing my Quest lol
I use https://www.amazon.ca/Cable-Matters-SuperSpeed-Female-Extension/dp/B00C7SA21U/ and https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00L1K1KDE/
Quality matters when going 10ft. Cable matters usb/displayport extensions work for my ceiling mount set up for my Rift S.
I tried amazon basics that did not work, and monoprice ones. But cable matters ones work perfectly for my Rift S
Now that the Quest 2 is out and in my hands, I have this to say regarding your list of hardware problems:
ok, so what is happening is. the cable is vibrating causing vibrations in the mic. (static/buzz)
the fix! is to get a 10 ft usb 2.0 or higher extension to dissipate the vibration threw the wire. thus removing the buzz.
here is a link to one on amazon, https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-Extension-Black-Feet/dp/B00C7SA21U/ref=sr_1_4?crid=1NNTYY3U4I65T&dchild=1&keywords=10+ft+usb+extension+cable&qid=1595558207&sprefix=10ft+usb%2Caps%2C144&sr=8-4
lol this had took me a year of testing shit to find the problem.
Is this the extension cord you are referring to?

I had both of these already in my house. The extension I was using for rift CV1 and the anker powerline for an old google pixel I don’t have anymore. They work together.

Using this passive extension with the Anker cable and working without problems. https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00C7SA21U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_16S1DbCDRSDEY
However using a USB 3.1 Gen 2 port.
For USB, I'm using the Cable Matters 200008 10-ft extension cable. It might not be a active extension cable. I'll mention again, but I had no problems up until today.
If you bought a $10 HDMI extension cable, you could run it up through the pole and it'd look 10x better.
I haven't had any issues, even on games that don't have native WMR support. My only issue was the short cable with the Odyssey, but I picked up these three items to extend the cable and stick them to my desk and it's working perfectly and now has the same range as my vive did.
Something I should add, the og vive with wireless and a das would cost less than a vive pro, but you'd have wireless, which improves immersion drastically. Not to add another thing for you to consider and further complicate your decision making process.
I use these cables with my Odyssey with no issues:

HDMI Extension: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01D5H91KE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
These cables work fine. I did have trouble with a certain port on my desktop (headset would disconnect periodically for a second) -- switching to another fixed that problem.
I taped the two cables together & it is a bit stiff, but it is only the first "leg" of cables which you don't lift/move frequently.
This is the one that was recommended in another thread https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C7SA21U/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C7SA21U/
USB extender DID work, although the above HDMI didn't work when connecting HDMI directly and USB3 via extender it detected headset and worked fine.
This 10' USB extension and this 10' HDMI extension have worked flawlessly for me with the same headset!
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C7SA21U/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01D5H91KE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 These two are the ones I got.
About the tracking... it's spotty but in no way does it take away the pleasentness of gaming. It's only when the controllers are out of the sensor's vision is when it gets spotty. It jumps back in as soon as there's vision. I wouldn't worry too much about it.
I'm running a similar setup to what you're looking at, just a bit shorter and less expensive. I couldn't see the need for the extra five feet.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C7SA21U/ https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008D5ETHE/ https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GHL72XS/
Some zip ties, heat shrink and cable sleeving keeps it nice and tidy. I keep it clipped to the side of my desk with a binder clip to keep tension off the back of my computer. It also makes it nice and easy to disconnect when I'm not using it.
Other people have reported having good luck with the Vive box.
https://www.amazon.com/HTC-Vive-Link-Box-pc/dp/B01LXR6DKV/
If you go that route you'll also need to find a power supply and you still need to find cables.
I didn't have any luck with the Insignia cable from BestBuy. It's seems pretty hit or miss.
What does it mean to buy an ACTIVE USB extension? I was looking at this one, is this ok?
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C7SA21U/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A1AMUYYA3CT6HJ&psc=1
I am. This one, to be exact.
For the time being, I've ended up plugging all of my sensors and Rift into the motherboard, and my keyboard and mouse are in the Inateck card for the time being. For two of the sensors, one of them is going through this extension cable, and the other one is going through the included 2.0 cable that comes with the standalone sensor, while the third one is connected directly to the motherboard.
I did indeed run the Fresco registry tweaks and power management settings in OTT, and it always runs as admin when I start it up. Hopefully we'll be able to get this sorted out properly, as you said :)
Just getting back to you on this, I did as you suggested, here's a video showing how it turned out. One sensor is connected directly to the motherboard, another is connected directly to the mobo with the extension cable included with a standalone sensor, and then another is connected with this cable to the Inateck card, along with the Rift plugged into the Inateck card. I'm using the latest Fresco Logic drivers, with USB Selective Suspend disabled, Fresco Registry Tweaks enabled, and "Disable Fresco Power Management on start" checked in Oculus Tray Tool.
I have 10 ft. extenders. If you have hdmi you might want to try that. Otherwise, give me a few minutes and I'll link my cords.
EDIT:
These both work consistantly for me.
Around eye level angled down would be my suggestion. Which gets you optimum floor coverage.
Take the sensors off the base and attach to something like this.
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1772848
Edit: Plus your idea of the two sensors at the back of the room to act as the "front" of the VR space would be ideal. You will likely want to get some good USB 3.0 extensions to go that distance though.

I extended my cables 10 feet using cables and the sleeve provided in another thread. Works great and gives me that little bit of extra room I needed. I'd consider extending cables on both sides of the breakout box if you were going for 25 feet, and it may not work.

That said, you may be disappointed. I'm constantly having to go back to my PC. Games crash, sometimes a lot. The audio settings get screwed up every other time I play (it seems like) and I don't have sound coming out. I know this will all get better in time, but right now it's a pain.
So my point is that extension is possible but bear in mind you can't control everything from in VR-space

First of all, this is AMAZING and everyone with a vive should do this. Even if you don't extend your pay area at all, having the extra cable length feels great.
Actually, even though the room setup says it only does 4m x 4m, when I loaded up a game the chaperon bounds did appear in the full area (probably 6m x 6m). So that's awesome!
In regards to latency, I don't have a scientific method for measuring it but I have not noticed ANYTHING. I even set the headset on the ground (to measure the tracking wobble it gets at rest) and it's the exact same as I get with the smaller tracking area.
I also ordered the open cable wrap. it was easy to setup and works really well.
I used the cables you recommended: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00C7SA21U/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_YGxdxbPW3R45Z
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FT9VW0O/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_WTxdxbG2WKX4D
I have successfully extended my cables after the breakout box with the following cables:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00C7SA21U/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_YGxdxbPW3R45Z http://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-2-Pack-Extension-Ethernet/dp/B00JJ517VI?ie=UTF8&keywords=2m%20HDMI%20EXTENSION%20Cable%20Male%20to%20Female%20v1.4%203D%20High%20Speed%20With%20Ethernet%20BLACK&qid=1460783173&ref_=sr_1_fkmr3_3&s... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FT9VW0O/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_WTxdxbG2WKX4D http://www.amazon.com/Techflex-Split-Sleeving-Ft-Black/dp/B007VSTFMI?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00
My tracking space is still only 4m x 4m, but having the longer cables is really nice.
Maybe try a USB cable extension with a shorter charger?
Cable Matters USB to USB... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00C7SA21U?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
A little late on this, but with all the unhelpful comments i think I can add something. Are you using a USB extension for your headset? Because what you're experiencing is the USB disconnecting. NOT an HDMI issue. The reason you still hear audio is because your HDMI works fine. The screen blacks out because it loses power. The app (and steam) automatically shuts off when you unplug the headset sometimes. It restarts itself because it senses the USB again.
The USB is probably losing connection due to either a power surge or power inefficiency. I would check the headset itself to make sure the cable is plugged in snugly to the slot.
If you're not using an extension, try putting your headset USB on the PCI USB 3.0. Some motherboards can start having issues with USB not reading correctly. Happened to one of my other towers.
If you are using an extension, buy this one instead. It's the most consistent for everyone that's tried it, including myself.
Lastly, you could try a complete fresh install of windows. Make sure your windows drivers are totally up to date, and that the MOBO USB's aren't losing connection (you can look in the logs for specific USB slots under device manager to see if they have problems)
Hope this helps!
EDIT: someone said something about USB selective suspend, that is definitely something you should turn off. Go to power options>advanced settings>USB and turn selective suspend off
