really? You'd get arrested for this book? Call-Me-Max-Friends-Book

"When Max starts school, the teacher hesitates to call out the name on
the attendance sheet. Something doesn't seem to fit. Max lets he know
the name he wants to be called by--a boy's name. This begins Max's
journey as he makes new friends and reveals his feelings about his
identity to his parents. Written with warmth and sensitivity by trans
writer Kyle Lukoff, this book is a sweet and age-appropriate
introduction to what it means to be transgender."
Cue the outrage!

Find them friends that are trans.Show them books about trans people. When i first came out it was hard and i wanted to go back to pretending to be a girl just to end the hate. Now im overweleming myself with positive trans content to block out the negative.

Red: A Crayon's Story may not be the best option. It kind of works as a metaphor, but it was written by a cis man and was mostly inspired by his own struggles with dyslexia as a child. It has a general "find the courage to be your true self" theme, but it doesn't directly address the situation of trans people at all.
