This cheap canagrow light from amazon. After this grow I’m upgrading to tent and Mars Hydro TS 1000w.
The idea was to spend as little money as possible to see if I could do it cause I, as my wife says, “collect hobbies.” So I built a cheap bucket and got some fox farms nutes and used some quality soil from ACE and threw some found seed in it in October.
The light is really important. This would be good for your budget and should be a lot better...

Is this the case for all of this style of LED? Previously I saw you had a thread about this canagrow cob saying it was pretty good and possibly upgradable.
It seems like a good option for the space bucket I'd like to build but I dont want to get into anything unsafe like the one in this thread
Thanks in advance
Thanks for the reply! I ordered one of these because I wasn't sure. Are there any lights I should be looking at I can spend 200usd?

I got this light for my girlfriend, and I have one of the double types. It's really good bang for your buck but the light is super violet. Sadly I haven't found any really good LED white lights around your budget. I measured the power draw of that 100W unit and it drew 52W from the wall which was the best I got from trying 5 different lights from Amazon.
I like seeing growers that do what they have to do to grow. Not everyone has a ton of money, and having any information on what others can do cheaply beats no information at all. That being said, I'd personally just stick with LEDs instead of CFLs, and get the highest wattage ones you can find of the right spectrum.
I've bought these before and they worked nice for my size grows as well, if you have the money to buy cheaper lights...

$20-$30 each give or take, and I use 4, 2 of each, along with 6 Great Value brand 100watt LEDs from Wal-Mart, and man, that's all I need for 3 medium plants in my 2x4 grow tent. I do have flowering spectrum LED lights I swap out with the daytime lights I usually use during bloom.
$10 bucks buys 4 100 watt LEDs (lol maybe 23w) from walmart.
Maybe I just like LEDs. I can move around the lights as I see fit in the fixtures I have, instead of one box being on top, unable to be moved besides up and down.
OUCH! that hurt my wallet just by clicking on it, you think either of these would work for a small size op:
