Changing your own oil isn't difficult. I recommend this oil drain pan: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JJ63RNS/
It doesn't have a lid, so you will have to dump it out after you drain your engine oil into it but it has high walls and it has a built in spout to pour it out. I've owned many drain pans but this thing rocks. I've had mine for years and it's held up great. I usually keep an empty oil container around from the last time I bought oil and pour it out using a funnel and take it to the parts store.
For oil filters, go OEM unless you really read up about oil filters. Some filters are rather generic with their bypass valve pressures and OEM filters are calibrated to your engine. This wasn't really that much of a concern with older cars but newer cars are more specific.
I just use that to transport. But this pan is the shit.
I’m still on the fence about the drain valve. People swear by it, but knowing my luck I’ll knock it open while driving and have to buy a new block. I don’t think it has a magnet either?
