I did notice my iPhone wasn’t receiving enough power when connected via usb through tablet- so I added a separate MagSafe charging mount for the phone.

CarPlay/AA usb adapter (make sure to install APK on device first before installing to confirm it works)
Feel free to ask questions about it I'll try to answer them all. So far theres no lag or performance issues using it this way so I think its great

I'm not sure it will (I use it with android Auto), you're likely going to need a box like this to enable Carplay.
