These are great: CMT Carbon Poles. You may need to replace the tips after a while or you can follow Andrew Skurkas guide on putting nicer ones in. I personally love the locus gear cp3 because they function well and have an awesome aesthetic.
If all else fails Amazon has them for $45. And the foam grips are $5 cheaper.
I use BD carbon cork but they are expensive and honestly overpriced compared to other poles. One of the most popular carbon sets are these
Since you bought them over 2 years ago you're probably SOL on getting a return from either MEC or black diamond. I would test your luck with something like WD-40 like another commenter said. If it comes to the point where you need to buy brand new poles I would recommend the Cascade Mountain Tech carbon fiber poles as a cheap but quality replacement so you don't break the bank on trekking poles.
If you are looking for more budget options the Cascade Mountain Tech poles get suggested a fair bit. They come in both carbon fiber and aluminum models. You can get them at Costco (or it might have been Sam's club) or on Amazon.
I have a pair of the carbon fiber ones and a pair of basic REI aluminum poles. I have no complaints about either brand.
Check out these: Cascade Mountain Tech: Cheap but durable. Andrew Skurka likes them. https://smile.amazon.com/Cascade-Mountain-Tech-Adjustable-Trekking/dp/B00XM0YGW8/ref=sr_1_3?crid=39T3YO9A55QCA&dchild=1&keywords=carbon+fiber+poles+hiking&qid=1622520996&sprefix=Carbon+fiber+poles%2Caps%2C226&sr=8-3
Hiking Poles. The catch is you have to go hiking with him. REI has some great stuff, but I got these on Amazon $45
I really wish I could teleport places to join other people and get them outside and hiking.
Oh "Dad do you want to go hiking" doesn't work. "Dad, Saturday morning I'll pick you up to go hiking" Flexibility is part of dealing with Parkinson's. We need to reduce our stress and be flexible. I worry about those off days when my body just doesn't kick into gear, but 9 time our 10 I am fine and halve a great day, solution "Don't worry about if it an off day, it will be a great day for a drive and we will ride out nature preserve to just watch the birds".
The real gift is time. Spending your time with him.
Carbon fiber, and cork handles. The cork is great as it helps the poles to not get all slimey. Click lock is also highly desireable.
I got my Cascade Mountain Tech poles on Amazon. No Costco required. Very happy with them after a three day shakedown on the A.T. last fall.
UL trek poles my mother in law gave me for my birthday about 6 years back have been a lifesaver on day hikes and multi night treks alike. They're sold through Costco or on Amazon. Cascade Mountain Tech Carbon Fiber Quick Lock Trekking Poles. They're $35 right now. Thank me later.
Available on Costco's website? I don't see them online. They can be ordered from Amazon for +~$15, probably about the same or a few bucks more than it would cost someone to ship them.
Looks like 70$ on Amazon. Are they still the most budget friendly at that price?
Try these cascade mountain tech poles. I have them and love them. I've put them through a couple hundred miles and accidentally stepped on them a couple times and seem to be doing great. Pretty light weight (about 8 oz per pole). I love the long cork/ foarm handles and straps. My only beef is that the tip covers fell off somewhere when hiking. But I've heard people bought them for as low as 28 dollars at costco in the northwest. When I find them at costco I'm going to get 4 or 5 pairs and give em out to friends they are so good.
At that point you're probably paying the same or only saving a couple of bucks from a direct Amazon order, so probably not worth it.

I got the highly recommended Cascade Mountain Tech poles from Amazon here
Are the Cascade trekking poles on Amazon the same as you can get at Costco? Costco is sold out, and also I only need one set...
you can still get those on amazon for $43 I have them and they are pretty nice
Go for a nice long hike/walk. Time spent with my kids is the best gift they can give me. I've got everything I need, but hiking poles and good socks are appreciated.
I'm using these and would highly recommend. I think they're around the 1lbs mark

How active is she?
Anything that gets her outside is good.
Hiking poles are cool, about $50 for reasonable ones. Mom shouldn't be hiking solo, so more a one on one (gift of time) and limited (30 to 90 minutes?) time. If you have some nice trails it is worthwhile.
What type of Art has she done?
Peter Dunlap-Shohl is a fantastic artist, who after years of art still continues on with his computer.
There is another cowboy artist who learned a "fast dot" method of his black and white drawings. When you zoom in it a series of dots (can't think of his name at the moment). Bob Sharp. Remembered enough details to find this article.
I have a hard time using my hands, but between word recognition and Grammarly can still write tons of text.
We can still do drawings. My Staedler Mars technical pens were gifted as I don't use them any more but doesn't mean the creative flow isn't still there. So talk with her about her wishes and desires. I should take up knitting to help with movement to delay arthritis, but not sure if I can do that anymore.
Accept. Adapt. Adjust.
Spotted an interesting advert:
The Parkinson's Protocol by Jodi Knapp.
There is an Australian publisher that has published her works on solving diabetes, thyroid, and now Parkinson's.
Well, I am a bit OCD, so I start looking to find background and published papers.
I had to laugh as the book is an epdf for $149 but on sale for $49, better act fast before they run out of e print! Sheesh!
Everything I read about Jodi Knapp and "The Parkinson's Protocol" is pure crap. Book reviews by leading doctors have no details. But act fast before it too late.
Groundbreaking research - meh, not much has changed.
If you want groundbreaking research, please check out https://tmrwedition.com/ which has great information in a hard to find format. (Sorry, love the website but hard for me to process).
I'd much rather see people spend $49 on a pair of Hiking Poles Amazon Link. REI has great stuff, but I'm a beginner and liked using hiking poles last weekend (easy 3 miles, but 500 ft elevation change meant big steps).
These Cascade Tech carbon fiber poles are pretty great, lightweight at 1lb for the set, and recommended at their pretty low price. Currently $43 on Amazon; however, Costco frequently has them for $30.
Also, I highly recommend this Tillak UL camp chair. It’s more durable than cheaper options on Amazon, and slightly lighter, at about 1.5lbs. Even better is the Helnox Chair Zero, but it’s a little pricier. I have both. The Tillak is a little more comfortable, the Helinox packs smaller and lighter.
I'd pay the extra $10 and save 2 ounces per pole with these carbon fiber ones.

For hiking poles the Costco ones have become beloved. I've seen posts announcing when they were in specific stores along with their 17 dollar 750 FP down quilts. I couldn't find the poles in my stores so I paid a bit more for then off Amazon and have been very happy with them. I'm pleased that they appear to be the same price now as when I bought them a few years ago.
You could go Cascade Mountain Tech for $45. Great carbon fiber poles with cork grips, and you would have two of them. There available on amazon prime Here
These are what I use and a good budget option. Basically you want something with cork handles to absorb sweat and a locking mechanism similar to these.
According to the comparison chart on this Amazon page a single pole is 7.8oz.
These are pretty well recommended for their price if no one else offers a trade.
The same trekking poles are sold on Amazon for $45 if you can't find any in stores. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XM0YGW8/
YMMV regarding finding them in store. I got them on Amazon awhile ago for roughly ten bucks cheaper. Here is the link.
If you can't find them locally you can order them from Amazon. A bit more expensive but when you account for shipping, etc., you're not paying much more.
the cascades are cheaper on amazon right now, I have them, but have never used them yet, however there is good reviews on them.
Yeah, so these, the Hiker Hunger ones, and the CMTs are probably made by the same Chinese company. With the CMTs being ~$20-40 cheaper (Costco vs. Amazon, etc.). Here's /u/andrewskurka's first review of the CMTs, and long term.
I use these.
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XM0YGW8/ref=twister_B00YHMJ6BQ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 $48 on Amazon and work good enough for me. They've held up pretty well, in spite of me beating them up and abusing them.
Ditch the bowl, you don't really need it and can eat straight out of the pot.
A ULA Ohm 2.0 could save you ~7 oz depending on which removable parts you take off and/or straps you trim.
Your midlayer is pretty heavy. Check out local thrift stores, you should be able to find something for around 10 oz or less (saving you 4 oz).
Does your entry for long johns include a top? Or is it just the bottoms? If you have a long sleeve top, ditch the sleep shirt and just use the long sleeve.
Do you really need the battery pack? I assume you will be listening to music which is why you need it? I didn't see your phone on the list though. Personally, I don't listen to music while I hike and not doing so would save you about 10 oz. But I realize people have different preferences. I guess what I'm saying is to consider if you really need it and maybe try without to see if you can adjust.
Ditch the Sawyer Squeeze and just use iodine tablets. I prefer aquamira, but if you're using chemical treatment anyway, save yourself the time/hassle/weight of the filter.
For hiking poles, I use the Cascade Mountain Tech ones frequently available at Costco for around $30. Also available on amazon. Make sure you get the flip lock version. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XM0YGW8/ref=twister_B07CSKLDKQ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
