Thank you!
Please understand that I'm biased, but I would begin with mine because it's chronological, it goes deeper into the evidence, and all of the information was cross-referenced from a variety of sources. Some of the other books are fantastic at providing details about how the police department was investigating things at the time, POIs that were ruled out, etc so if you're more interested in that kind of stuff, I would recommend Sudden Terror or Hunting a Psychopath. If you're looking to just get a solid intro to the case, mine would probably fit the bill https://www.amazon.com/Files-Rapist-Golden-State-Killer/dp/0999458108/
I'm the author of the book Case Files of the East Area Rapist / Golden State Killer: https://www.amazon.com/Files-Rapist-Golden-State-Killer/dp/0999458108/
I wrote a book on the case: https://www.amazon.com/Files-Rapist-Golden-State-Killer/dp/0999458108/, which involved a very heavy dive through thousands of pages of original documentation and police files and some in-depth study. Even though I locked up and/or passed on my files a few months ago, I still chime in and help when I can because this case is just one of those things that I can't let go!
I also created the http://www.coldcase-earons.com website.
Edit: added link
No, I'm not a copy/paster :)
I wrote the book Case Files of the East Area Rapist / Golden State Killer (20% off right now, lol), and the websites goldenstatekillertrial.com, coldcase-earons.com, visaliaransacker.com, and coldcasewriter.com. And I mod this subreddit :)
Now that I list all of that out, that seems like too much. We used to call that a "Type A Personality." I should really take a break!

It's #9 in the "Serial Killer" charts on Amazon today, so thank you to everyone who has read it!
Thank her for what? She didn't do anything other than write a book on the case that was filled with info that's been around for years.
There are also other people that wrote books about the case much better than she did, two of them being detectives that worked on the case:
Michelle McNamara had nothing to do with solving the case, yet for some strange reason certain people seem to think that it wouldn't have been solved without her. Or course that's just ridiculous because she had nothing to do with investigating or solving it. But now I almost can't read any article about earons with out her name being mentioned even though she had nothing to do with the case.
The only people that deserve a thank you in this case are the police that finally solved it.
The "Case Files of the East Area Rapist / Golden State Killer" book was published first and covers the case as it stood pre-arrest. It's in the process of being updated for a second edition, which should be available sometime this winter. The second edition will take out a whole lot of irrelevant sightings and information and it'll add a lot of stories about the investigation, how people overcame the challenges associated with the case, and of course, the arrest and impending trial.
The "Secret Origin of the Golden State Killer: Visalia Ransacker" book was published post-arrest, and it contains very detailed information about the Visalia crimes (along with some arrest information) and how they connect to the broader case.
Yup.
Can also get this cataloging of each crime:
Small member mentioned extensively.
After consulting with a lot of different folks, we've decided to do a limited reprinting of both books. Amazon should have some copies by the end of the week. I think the price will be around $30 for the EAR/GSK book and $22 for the VR book -- sorry if that's a little steep, but we need to cover costs!
Note: Apparently some of the first-run copies might say "2nd Edition" on them. This was a weird mix-up -- it's merely a second printing, not an updated edition.
The EAR/GSK book will be here: https://www.amazon.com/Files-Rapist-Golden-State-Killer/dp/0999458108/
The VR book will be here: https://www.amazon.com/Secret-Origin-Golden-State-Killer/dp/0999458116/
