It's historical non-fiction, but a fantastic story; Chasing Venus is about the first world-wide collaborated scientific endeavor. The Transit of Venus (the planet venus passing in front of the sun) happens in pairs, but over a century apart. It happened in 2004 and 2012, but won't happen again until 2117.
Anyways, it's the story of hundreds of astronomers racing around the world to meet a deadline to observe the rare event in 1761 and 1769. Trying to obtain as much accurate information as possible from as many different points as possible, they hoped to finally be able to calculate the size of the solar system, or the actual distance from the earth to the sun.
Depends on what you're looking for.
Just a general good read book about astronomy:
Chasing Venus by Andrea Wulf
Coming of Age In The Milky Way by Timothy Ferris.
