thank you!
i have been playing with a few things similar...
for example, you can get these buggers and a small piece of double sided gel tape and fit a leap motion sensor in the frunk.
the leap motion sensor is a high speed stereo ir camera sensitive to 850nm, as well as a structured ir light projector. surprisingly it doesn't interfere with lighthouse tracking¹. it works very well and very fast/fluid as a hand tracking toy :) but unfortunately it gets a bit hotter than i'm comfortable with by itself (~50c uncomfortable to touch longer than 5s) and downright scary while in the frunk.
anyhoo, the leap motion sensor software package comes with a vr visualizer tool. with a minor bit of finagling, coercion, and soundly drubbing w11's camera privacy permissions, you can enable direct stereo ir camera view on the leap motion. as the leap motion in vr mode is configured to use the pose of your hmd as the origin of its tracking system, the net effect is that it works [intense disbelief + happy/very surprised words] well as a passthrough stereo camera...
... at 850nm infra-red!!!
it's absolutely fascinating seeing the world only in 850nm! unless there's a significant 850nm light source (like incandescent or halogen lightbulbs²) mostly you will see nothing except the sparkling of your base stations. turn on a halogen light and things become interesting :)
your monitors are black rectangles. monitors don't emit 850nm
most things look familiar, but a very stark and abrupt grayscale with an unfamiliar gamm
