Maybe a book from the past, like Sunset's Chinese cookbook. It's actually very good, especially considering it came out in the 70's. I learned to cook "Chinese" from it. Nothing too out there, and I don't use it anymore, but I keep it out of nostalgia. It has ingredients that were available (though sometimes difficult to source) in the 80s, but those are generally available at a regular grocery store now (hoisin sauce, oyster sauce, 5 spice, etc). Just an idea.
