Always backcountry. Canoe/portaging and hiking. I just use one of those plastic carrier thingies. They have little prongs inside to cushion the eggs from the numerous impacts. I've only ever broken a single egg on 5-6 trips. I put this inside a freezer bag to contain any possible messes.

Could always bring our own egg carrier along with our reusable bags :)
Or the hard egg containers used for camping? Such a fake dilemma anyway, but the answer to this fictional problem is these things: https://www.amazon.ca/Coghlans-511A-Egg-Carriers-Holds/dp/B000LC84PK?th=1&psc=1
I would suggest New Yorkers always keep a few eggs on hand just in case they see Jared and Ivanka out and about
